What Insiders Are Saying
An all-day, cafeteria-style spot at the western edge of Soho.
Left my wallet in the restaurant and I got it back with everything in it; I adore the customer service and honesty of the staff. Been raving about the staff to my friends. Way to go!!!
Great place but a little off the beaten path. Very good if you're downtown though.
Buon ristorante, ottimo il servizio, un po rumoroso.
Already have. We enjoyed our evening immensely and our server was a joy.
Everyone in our party of 8 loved their meals. The staff was very helpful with suggestions and alterations to accommodate an allergy.
Very enjoyable brunch with excellent service. The food was exceptionally tasty and beautifully prepared. We were pleasantly surprised by our meal and the ambiance. Kudos all the way around.
Was really looking forward to their brunch menu but arrived and was told they were only doing a continental buffet.
Had a very good experience. The food is made of very fresh ingredients and bread seemed to be backed on premise. Definitely a restaurant we will return to visit. On Friday night the adjacent streets are relatively empty so plenary of free parking close by if you are coming from out of town. Staff is very friendly & helpful.
Great food& nice staff for family.
I visited third times. It was really wonderful place to spend great time whenever i went the restaurant .
I ate there with two childhood friends who I am lucky to see twice a year. We ordered wine, appetizers and main meals. The service was poor to say the least: wine came about 10 minutes after ordering and my steak, ordered at medium rare was very, very rare - about 30% was inedible, however, no staff came by to ask for further cooking. Though it is no ones fault, there was an altercation while we were there, including the police. No one came to apologize or mention it though it was disruptive and disturbing. I had a gift certification and had to ask twice for it to be taken from the bill, and now I am incorrectly charged on my bank statement! Lastly, our server brought some small soft serve cones, which is a lovely gesture, but 2 of our party couldn't eat them and they were left there to melt (though we had told her they wouldn't be eating). You can do better, for the value, within a small radius given the location.
We called to confirm our booking on Christmas Day for lunch.
We get there and it’s a large hall of a place with no Christmas lunch menu, only dinner.. yet we were told it’s lunch.
We travelled an hour to get there.
Not happy Jan!
We found an ideal restaurant and had a lovely meal and perfect atmosphere.
The waitress let it be known she was unhappy to be working on Christmas Eve. Can’t fault her, but it was definitely a buzz kill and took away from the family gathering.
Superb customer service. Thanks so much for a terrific experience.
This restaurant was FINE for Thanksgiving. I wasn’t aware that the regular menu would be completely off limits.l- Thanksgiving only. The food was very average and the portions were small for $60+ per person. Our waiter and the manager were super friendly and accommodating but the food and overall vibe were average. Most likely would only come bank for the attractive staff.
Good LaFrieda burger but too out of the way to find again. Also it was lunchtime and the place was dead.
Expensive for what you get.
Really cool ambience, great drinks and food, friendly and atttentive service in a neighborhood you don’t normally think of for a fri night girls dinner
Amazing lunch spot in Hudson Square. So many delicious choices it’s hard to recommend just one but the classic meat plus three, hotdog, protein bowls are all fantastic.
service was not good and the food was way overpriced
Food was great. Very spacious. Server was very rude.
A hidden gem with excellent food and a fun vibe.
The food was delicious, comfortable ambiance and the staff’s service was excellent.
Why don't more people know about this place? Yes, it's tucked into the Arlo hotel but don't let your typical New Yorker disdain for hotel dining let tourists have all the fun! It also happens to be right across the street from a cross-fit gym, which means their menu is super Paleo-Friendly. Ok, I admit. I had to have a biscuit. I didn't care if it threw me out of ketosis. It was worth every buttery, hot, flaky bite. Better than my Granny's even. Meat and Three is a take on old fashioned cafeteria dining that was popular in other places that are not New York. For me? Totally exotic. Harold's take is sophisticated, casual clean eats. Airy modern setting. Good looking bar, Outdoor courtyard. A total find in a scene plagued overcrowded restaurant neighborhood. You should go.
Servers were attentive but got many things wrong. Food was decent.
The appetizers were generous in size & so good.
The Berkshire pork chop was the best I have tasted in NYC....& I cannot forget the biscuits!!!!
My husband & I will be back as well as check out Brunch
Service was terrible.
We went for brunch. Don’t waste your time with the buffet. The shakshouka is amazing.
It was okay. The service was slow, the restaurant use to have a great menu, however recent shake ups prove to have killed business. The restaurant was empty besides a few guests. The food was good but small portions left little value to the meal. From my experience in the F&B industry, in the future I would bring back the menu from the restaurants namesake, or risk not being there much longer. Probably won’t return
My wife & I stayed in the hotel. We made reservations for Sunday brunch. The restaurant is chic and the food was amazing! I had the German pancake which took 15 to prep, krazy good.
Menue has changed. Hardly any meat as before. Almost empty. Must bee on hard times
The food is always very good. However the menu rules keep changing. When they opened the “Meat + 3” was one entree and choice of 3 sides. Now they give you specific sides with each entree, including a not so great cucumber salad with all entrees. Also they eliminated a sampling of appetizers that was wonderful.
The service is probably the worst part of the restaurant, next to the cocktails. The service is usually slow, and they seem to only have one or two waiters available at any time. I spilled my drink, asked for help, and the waitress dropped two cloth napkins on the table for me to clean up the drink myself. Not that I’m a princess but any restaurant I’ve ever been to, if someone spills, the waiter or bus boy cleans it up or at least helps. Another customer spilled something and I saw another waiter do the same thing. I will say that when the other person spilled their wine, which was a pretty big serving, the waiter refilled it.
Cocktails are usually passable but this past time were truly bad. I ordered an espresso martini that was 3/4 full, and it was beyond bitter and not balanced in flavor. I then ordered a cosmo and it was also not good. I think if it were better managed and the staff were trained properly it would be a great neighborhood restaurant.
Overpriced for the type of food/style and portion
Great time for New Years
This place, while fun and casual, carries itself with a sense of Southern dignity. The concept of a meat with three sides that you can choose is a great idea, especially for group dining. I have ordered many of the sides, and the overall quality of the dishes is consistently high. The herb salad, while simple, is absolutely delicious. When I order their great burger, I substitute the herb salad for fries. Service feels personal in a really nice way. Its a comfortable place for solo or group dining, which I really appreciate.
Horrible service. DO NOT GO HERE ON A HOLIDAY. Has reservations for 7:30 and kept getting told to wait until we gave up and left empty handed and starving at 10:00pm!!!!!!!!!! Horrific thanksgiving experience and will NOT be going back ever again.
Absolutely shocking!!!! Please do not go to this restaurant it could possibly ruin your whole evening.
The food was deeelicious! My family truly enjoyed themselves, and the servers were fantastic! We will definitely be back!
Great option for our Thanksgiving afternoon meal! Laid back, casual atmosphere, traditional style Turkey and fixings were served family style. Service was slow but understandable for a holiday. Although busy and scarce, our waiter was pleasant and helpful with water refills. I was impressed with the amount of food for the reasonable price per person.
The worst dining experience I've ever had in my 8 years in New York. Completely ruined our Thanksgiving! They beyond overbooked and anyone with a reservation waited AT LEAST an hour and a half for their table. Oh and heaven forbid you ask for an update on your table (politely I might add ), the blonde woman, who is apparently one of the owners, will berate and verbally assault you! I witnessed her do this to several patrons including myself. Not to mention no apology was ever given for the wait nor was any compensation. You have at least 75 very hungry and rightfully annoyed people waiting to be seated, the last thing you should be is verbally abusive.
Finally got seated 90 minutes after our reservation time only to be severaly disappointed by the food. Mediocre at best. The meat is completley tastless and I swear the mac and cheese is just Velveta. The poor over worked waiters were the only salvation. They managed to keep their composure and patience in the midst of pure chaos.
So to sum it up, if you enjoy verbal assault for mediocre food then sure, try Harold's.
We dined here on Thanksgiving. The food was served family style and was delicious... AFTER WE WAITED 2+ HOURS JUST FOR THE APPETIZERS!!! Our reservation was at 5:30, we were seated at 6:30 and didn’t eat our entree til almost 9! WAY OVERBOOKED. The price tag was high ($55 per person) but we expected that in NYC on Thanksgiving. They were nice enough to comp the kids meals and desserts but a 5+ hour meal was a disaster.
