Made a reservation in advance of the Michelle Obama event at the Tacoma Dome. Even received and confirmed that we would be there! Reservation was 2.5 hrs ahead of the event, but when we showed up, no reservation! Got two stories from the hosts- one was that OpenTable had crashed and lost all the reservation. The other was that Harmon is no longer using OpenTable, and that it was OpenTable’s fault because they had not removed Harmon from the app. Wound up having to eat crappy super expensive stadium food. Good thing Michelle Obama was so awesome the lack of real food didn’t ruin a special day we had been planning for months!
Upon arrival to our 5:45 reservations we were told Open Table server crashed and they didn’t have any of the Open Table reservations. It was an absolute poorly handled mess. Michelle Obama was in town and tons of people were in the area trying to scramble to find dinner. The restaurant refused to even acknowledge that I was able to show my reservation on my Open Table app. Huge fail of both Harmon Pac Ave and Open Table.
Terribly mismanaged. Went before Michelle Obama event, was told their Open Table "crashed" and they were not honoring reservations. They would not even look at the reservation on my phone. We were 45 minutes early, and they still did not seat us for another hour. The kitchen was so backed up that our orders were never filled, and we had to get chili to go and eat it standing outside in order to get to our event on time. Being so close to the Tacoma Dome I would expect that they would staff up to handle crowds before events. I'll never go here again!
They did not honor our reservation or any other reservations made on open table due to large event going on and told us it would be a 1.5 hour wait so had to go to another restaurant
I made reservations via OpenTable one week prior. Upon arrival we were told that the OpenTable server was down and that they had no reservations and that tables were first come first serve.
They didn't attempt to honor our reservation or allow me to show them confirmation via email of our reservations. Nor did they seem to care or offer any type of restitution. Michelle Obama was in town and every restaurant/bar downtown was slammed.
When we walked to the a restaurant just a few store fronts down the street we were told OpenTable was not down nor had it been all day. Interesting.
Luckily we found a bar down the street that worked hard to seat us and had a wonderful evening.
I've been a loyal Harmon patron but will never go back. I felt they not only treated us poorly - it appears they were dishonest. Horrible customer service.
Made reservation via OT before a Tacoma Dome show. They did not honor the reservation from any OT reservation holders and we were left scrambling to find something to eat nearby to avoid an hour wait.
Super unprofessional and incredibly disappointing to find out they were going to do this upon arrival. At the very least, it would have be courteous to send an email or text beforehand since OT has this information.
What’s the point of using OT if you’re not going to honor reservations when people need them most (pre-show when things in the area is super busy and time is limited).
I would not recommend coming here when there is an event at the Tacoma Dome. They were incredibly unprepared, understaffed -- it took us an hour and 20 minutes to get our food AFTER we ordered, and that was after waiting 40 minutes to place our order. The food was good though!
Dinner before Michelle Obama speech, so obviously packed. However we were told “The Open Table” system crashed and all reservations were lost, so had to get on list. Waited 50 minutes for table and almost 90 minutes for simple food, that was cold and expensive. Brought our salads after almost done with main course. Ugh.
I would recommend them, however they didn’t actually have our reservation made through open table. We had a larger party (10 people) and food took over an hour to receive and we didn’t have much an an explanation to why it took so long. The food is good and the location is fantastic.
Juicy hamburger with tasty tomatoes even in winter. Don't often have fries but these were great. Size is too big for me, but provided a second meal, so not a bad thing. Was there after lunch crowd so really quite quiet which made visiting easy
We were at a relatively small table for 5 people. We made it work but there were better options that were not offered. I arrived after the initial group was already seated or I would have asked for a different table.
We were told when we got there that they had "received a lot of reservations" that day and had to cancel all reservations that were made. I had out of town family meeting me there and had made a reservation for 10 people. They were unfamiliar with the area, parked (including paying for parking) only to discover that we couldn't eat there.
The hostess told us that our reservation had been transferred to the Hub, which is not even in the same neighborhood, nor does it have the same type of food as the Harmon. We accepted on her promise to call the Hub to ensure they had a table for us; unsurprisingly, they did not have a table for us when we got there, nor had anyone called in our reservation.
I like the Harmon; have given a lot of business to them, the Hub, and the Harmon Tap Room over the years. This was a pretty disappointing experience and one that will be difficult to forget.
Our waiter was super nice, apologized for the slow food delivery. We waited over an hour for just appetizers.
Don't know what went wrong in the kitchen that night, but the place was less than half full.
Again, our waiter was as nice as he could be. I would go there again and hope that evening was just an off night.
Server forgot my food, crab Mac was bland, inconsistent and soupy. Beer was good so was pretzeled curds. Sadly disappointed with the overall experience.
My wife and arrived on a Saturday for breakfast, we even made a reservation. When we arrived at 10AM the hostess sat us down, the place smelled of old beer, she didn't ask if we wanted coffee or something to drink. The hostess walked away and didn't see her for about ten minutes. We stood up and noticed that the hostess and other cooks were in the far back of the kitchen talking and ignoring us. We got up and walked out to go somewhere else.
The restaurant seemed confused regarding my reservation through Opentable. Apparently the person who had access to this information no longer works there. The kitchen was having issues with some equipment. The menu online did not reflect the actual menu at the restaurant. Since it was Valentines Day I thought the restaurant would have been decorated a little. We decided to leave before ordering any food
We were nearly the first ones there. So they thought it was funny that we had reservations. The waitress was friendly. It is a Pub setting, everything made of wood, it's kind of a cozy place. They were quick to take our drink order, but took a while to take our food order. It was a good thing that we ordered appetizers, because it took forever to get our actual food. The avocado fries were good. The crab dip was good but we ran out of bread and our request for more bread was never fulfilled . The staff seamed a little overwhelmed as the crowd began to poor in, since it was Valentines Day. It has a little frustrating to see other customers getting their food before ours, since we were nearly the first ones there. I ordered the Pork Chop, which I enjoyed. My wife ordered the steak. She as for medium rare and it came rare, so had to send it back. It came back closer to well done. Our food was not hot buy the time that we actually received it. The restrooms looked like they had not been cleaned from the night before. They appeared to be short staff because one of the cooks were taking orders. Which of coarse would only delay people getting their orders filled.
