   Loved this place when I came with a group last year. Had an early dinner. Maybe it was too early as the service was non existent. Had to leave our table twice to walk to the bar where our drinks were just sitting. Would have been understandable if the place was busy. But we were one of only 3 tables at the time. Food was so-so. My short rib was probably the best of our entres. The roasted chicken was just few strips of chicken which looked and tasted a little processed. Ahi tuna was good. As was the salad. Wine list was reasonable. We had a great bottle of Bordeaux...when it eventually came. Disappointing after the previous experience.

   The ambience was great. The music was great. Our server, Sean, was awesome. The food was ok. I am into charcuterie boards right now, and I've had some really good ones. Harlowe's board lacked a variety of cheeses, jams, and spreads. The chicken was overcooked (dry). The oysters were fire, they were fresh and tasty. The prawns (appetizer) were delicious. More than likely I will not visit again. Our favorite pastime is visiting different restaurants in SoCal to enjoy amazing cocktails, food and an ambience with a good vibe , with friends and family . If we revisit a restaurant, that means we absolutely loved everything about the restaurant. At Harlowe, we spent approximately $700 for 6 people on dinner and drinks. Not bad. After we were done eating dinner, the bus-boys rush to the table to clean up. Three minutes later the manager came over to tell us the table was reserved and that we had to go (a deejay started playing and the restaurant slowly turned into a club atmosphere, which was great) . We moved to the bar, where we spent another $300. After spending 1k, and being told we had to leave the table was disrespectful. We would have spent more than $1000, except I told my husband we were not spending another dollar in there. The whole bottle service thing is a scam. You cannot occupy a table unless you pay for a bottle of alcohol. We certainly spent bottle service money, however because the words "bottle service" were not included in our reservation, we had to leave the table. I understand they need to find creative ways to make money. However, perhaps a section of the restaurant could be reserved for bottle service. Also, there should be more options for bottle service. For instance, I should be able to order an array of cocktails. I do not care to have a bottle of alcohol to make my own well drink. I did not want to spend $500 on a bottle of Jameson or Hennessey; I'd rather order sidecars, margaritas or shots. I would recommend this spot with caution.

    We were overcharged and unfortunately didn't catch it because we didn't get to see the bill before paying. It was extremely slow and still our drinks took a while to get to our table. The food also all got taken before we were finished. We were literally grabbing things off the plate as the manager (I assume) was taking the plates away. They did graciously offer us some oysters and said they were trying out new menu items and wanted our opinion. But in the end we were double charged for an appetizer that we didn't even finish so I believe we paid for the oysters anyway.

    This was my fourth visit to Harlowe. I understand they were short handed which may explain that the service was not up to par. We had to go to the bar in order to place our orders. We had only gotten our salads when the entrees arrived. I was tempted to send them back, Instead we switched to the hot food and then had salads for dessert. The food is always wonderful. And if you are not a fan of loud, go early, by seven the noise level is over the top. Also the types of music changes. Last time there were a lot of french songs and melodic music, this time it was the beat. I will return and try again.
