We went to Harley on recommendation from a friend. Were there on a Sunday at 6:00pm. The food was marginal at best. Our halibut was way overcooked. Our mushrooms were flavorless. We have many restaurant choices in this area we food that is excellent and priced more decently. At that time of day when the place wasn't busy we would have expected better.
Saturday was my third time coming to Harley, first time for brunch. I have not been disappointed in anything we have tried and follow them on Instagram to see what new creations they come up with. The Braised Bacon Steak was to die for and we will definitely be returning again to try additional dishes.
Delicious NY Steak, comes in slices but very tasty, outrageous mushrooms, interesting Halloum and nice prawns. Halibut also very tasty. A little higher price than expected but no disappontments.
Amazing dinner - great service - would recommend to anyone that enjoys good food!
Dined for the first time to celebrate a birthday. The service and food were both fantastic! This is a hidden gem in Laguna!
Great interior design and flow to the space, however, not enough ventilation to balance the heat coming in from the floor to ceiling windows. It was uncomfortable.
The pancakes were mush, and had no texture to them. The benedict seemed like it would have been good, but the execution was far from it unfortunately. Felt like the ingredients were just thrown together without quality care for how each part was prepared most efficiently to pair with eachother. Coffee tasted burnt and bitter.
The open kitchen concept is such an awesome addition to a restaurant, but not capitalized on when the majority of the cooks are wearing sweat-stained fitted caps. Not a good look lol. I dont mind spending good money on a dining experience, especially the extra “optional” 3% they charge because they are operating in california? The prices of their options are already inflated a bit, but adding that to their menu, kinda allows the customer to be able to peak through the veil of the business’ frustration. Not a good look. Overall the food definitely did not match the price tag! Our server was super sweet though, and if you dont mind sweating a bit while dining, its a great space.
Best new restaurant in Laguna!! Fresh organic food, creatively prepared in a relaxed romantic setting. Don’t miss this place!!
The portions were extremely small and the quality was mediocre. Given that it was over $500 for six people we did not feel we it was a good value. That being said, our server was attentive and knowledgeable
I had visited the restaurant on Wednesday the 19th of June...we sat at the bar overlooking the kitchen and the experience from the waiter to the food was fantastic and the reason why we decided to return on the 27th (a week later) for a birthday celebration. We sat at a table instead of the bar for this visit due to the number in our party. Our waitress was far from enthusiastic about any part of what she was doing, the manager felt that the right time to have a staff meeting was the exact time that our drinks were ready at the bar, and following that meeting the waitresses morale diminished that much more. The enthusiasm for the dishes being served was non existent and the sweet story of the cookies was never told, which was something we sold to our guests as a reason to visit. Such a disappointment in comparison.
The food, cocktails and service are off the chart, a smidge expensive, but very high quality. We were sad the grill was down while were there, the heat melted the vent fan! They are fixing it, but as regulars we LOVE the grilled items from the avocado to the thick steaks. The vegetable hummus plate is second to none, so fresh, creative, beautiful and fun. We start discussing what we are going to order hours before we go and usually end up happily changing our decisions because the menu is always evolving based on ingredients we get drawn to new dishes. This time it was Jason's Bolognese. My daughter wanted pasta and it blew our minds.
We’ve been to many high end restaurants and this presents itself as one. However, the food was lackluster, especially the cheese app and the $100 steak which was cold at medium rare and under seasoned. The mixed drinks we had also were not up to par, especially considering the restaurant next door is know for their drinks. Lastly, they at an “optional” 3% service charge for the exorbitant CA taxes and operational costs. It doesn’t go to staff and this is not a chain restaurant so logic seems that they would build this into their $100 steak price.
Thank you for the review. I apologize that your experience was not up to the standards you expected. We always want to provide the best to our dining guests. I hope that you choose to come back and give us another chance. Our menu is always changing, and perhaps you will find something you love here. As for the 3%, we do remove it if requested to do so, and in fact, every dollar of it is distributed directly to our cooks and dishwashers. Hope that is cleared up and you have a wonderful day!
Over-priced for what you get.
Graduation dinner with family.
Had a great time at Harley last Saturday night. We sat at the bar at the grill end and enjoyed watching the chefs prepare and serve and converse with us. Servers came up for their orders and offered suggestions and were very friendly. Coming back soon for a birthday celebration!
Felt rushed multiple times by the waiter. Typically waiters will transition a table when their shift ends but he was trying to get us to wrap up quickly and pay the check instead. Service felt a bit stressful. Delicious food!
Amazing food! Everything we ordered was fantastic. If you get the chance sit at the counter in front of the kitchen - you get to see all the other food that comes out as well as the care and attention that goes into each entree.
What a fun place to spend an evening! The menu is inventive, and everything we tried was excellent. The waitstaff are all very friendly, and make the experience fun. And the cute little box of chocolate chip cookies w/the story of Harley is darling - a great way to send you out the door! We will be back for sure!
Can't say enough good things about this place. The food, the ambience and service were all top not. Super fresh ingredients and the grass-fed beef was out of this world.
Great staff very attentive. Locally sourced good.
When you walk in the décor is inviting and stunning. I took my boyfriend and he was skeptical lol, we ordered the cauliflower...and it was INCREDIBLE. I sincerely mean it when I say the food is well thought out, unique, and delicious. Also tried the meat balls...once again amazing. Cant wait to go back and try more dishes
Excellent service and very good food. We will definitely be going back again. We really like the ambiance very cool and elegant.
They are very caring, my husband accidentally left our garage door opener and they tracked who it belong to called us. Going the extra step for us sure endear them to us. Thank you for the great service.
This restaurant really cares about its food, its service, and its relationship with its location an surroundings. We chose 4 of the smaller plates and enjoyed all of them. The quality was top notch. Noted also that they use metal straws for soft drinks. We really enjoyed everything about it.
Loved the place from the moment we walked in. Our waitress was awesome( I wish I could remember her name). The menu had so many healthy choices, and they all looked amazing. The food was amazing!!!! Can’t wait to come back. Perfect!!!
The food was fantastic. The grilled avocado was amazing. Could have easily gotten a second order.
My husband and I decided to try Harley for the first time last night. We made a reservation to sit at the bar which was very cool because we love the bar. The food was amazing. Everything we tried, we loved. Oysters, grilled shrimp, lobster roll, broccolini, beef tartare. What was incredibly cool was that the owner inspects every plate that goes out to make sure it’s perfect. So happy to have another great restaurant in Laguna!!
As noted, the service & ambiance were excellent. And while the few dishes we tried were good, the limited menu, "small plates" format, and high prices keep me from rating it higher.
Was pleasantly surprised to find our table was upgraded to the private dining room for our party of 8. Cocktail program was most excellent, family style share plates did very well with our large group and the service catered to our needs as well as to our privacy. Will absolutely be back again.
Food was very, very good. Wonderful service! A little cold inside, but overall, great place
This is MUST VISIT if you’re within 100 miles of Laguna Beach! I can’t speak highly enough about our experience. From the excellent service by Scott, to the absolutely amazing food, Harley is a gem in Orange County!
The appetizers and main course food has continually been good since they opened desserts are a little heavy. The service standard has not been maintained. We had to ask for things throughout, water, cutlery, more wined were even charged for sampling their "sparkling wine" as we sat down. We didn't drink it and ordered wine from the list. Overall i really like the place just ask them to focus on customer attention
Loving this foodie hot spot! Inventive dishes and libations, niceset real people staff!!!
Tough review because a mixed bag. Went for Mother’s Day and intentionally made the choice of mid afternoon. Their reservation system indicated some Mother’s Day specials and daily menu. In fact it was brunch and more like breakfast. The waitress was apologetic as to the inaccuracy of the reservation system. Manager was unapologetic, unbending and frankly dispassionate. We made due and the waitress saved the day. Great spot and ambience.
There were 4 of us on a Saturday night. First time, we sat by the door. The noise level was higher in the back but it didn’t overpower our conversation. I’d like to dine upstairs sometime, it looked nice from below. The food was exceptional and I don’t say that without experience. We shared 2 NY’s and they were cooked perfectly, full of flavor. The prawns were delicious. Reminded me of something I ate in Tulum. Cacio E Pepe was delicious (my daughter had to have it DJ ce falling in love in Italy) The hash browns and the potato with creme and cheese were both perfection. Desserts were lovely. Very attentive and friendly service, will return.
I very seldom write a negative review. “Complimentary” champagne offered-oh for an $8 charge! Food at Harley is nothing special. Salmon was oily with an over spiced vegetable side. Pasta was tasteless. Cold, soft boiled eggs. Baked potato tasted like it was microwaved.
And items are overpriced-the burger is $30. $8.00 for a dry brioche bun.
Food delivery was slow and waitress no sense of timing. Also charged us $8.00 for a second bottle of sparkling water that was delivered after our meal and we declined it.
$175 dinner for three. Expected much more.
Great food, staff and atmosphere. The food is super fresh and made in view of the dining area. Best farm to table experience ever.
I love Harley Laguna. This was probably our fourth or fifth visit. The service is always warm, welcoming and attentive. From the host stand upon arrival, seating and serving throughout the meal. Our server was very knowledgeable about the cocktail and wine menu as well as the food and the specials. We were two couples sharing quite a few plates (hungry!). The steak tartare was delicious, perfectly prepared and served with little rounds of slightly toasted rye bread. Yum! We shared the farm vegetables which is a visually beautiful assortment of colorful veggies, some pickled and some slightly roasted, over hummus. Also really good, especially the roasted beets. The tuna Crudo special wasn’t really anything special, IMO, but we ordered a lamb special and an incredible grass fed, carrot finished steak from the menu. Both were amazing. We got the side of sautéed mushrooms which was an interesting and delicious blend of mushrooms and accompanied the meats very well.
I just love Harley and will go back anytime I can because it’s always a great dining experience.
We have followed chef Daniels for years and when we found out he had a new restaurant, we had to come try it! The vibe here is very cozy yet modern and great for date night or a group. We tried the fries, shishito peppers, meatballs and cauliflower! Everything was delicious, we definitely over ordered but wanted to try different dishes. The fries were so unique as well as the cauliflower(such great flavors.) Everything was so fresh! Can’t wait to come back next time we’re in the area.
First time there. Service impeccable; food marvelous. There were most accommodating in seating us at a quiet corner table so we could have a conversation without shouting as in most restaurants. We were seated upstairs and there were no TVs up there. A big pet peeve I have about restaurants today is that most of them have several TVs going with sports playing. WHY??? When you go out with friends, sweethearts, family, etc, it’s not about watching TV, its about getting together, talking, having fun with each other. If you want to watch TV, stay home!
I liked Harley’s a lot and I am a fussy person about restaurants.
I liked the menu at 370 Common better. We won’t be back.
We really enjoyed the ambiance and speaking with the Owner/Chef. Loved the history.
