I really enjoy Harlan Publick in Norwalk, but was very disappointed with Harlan Social. I thought it would be a slam dunk. Both Harlan's tend to be a bit overpriced, but the food is unique and there is always something for everyone. So you pay the extra price tag for the ambiance and unique food.
The service we had was poor. Our server did not understand the menu, was slow and did not provide us with the bill until we asked when we were clearly finished. In addition, I ordered the Chicken and Waffles and it came with pork belly. That would have been fine, but the pork belly was so taught that I could not eat it. Also, it was not noted on the menu that it would be part of the meal.
Overall, our experience could have been better--food and service.
Was very disappointed with my recent trip to Harlan Social. It was not at all busy and yet the service was horrendous. The waitress would go missing for long periods of time, never checked on us once we received our food, etc. What made it worse was the food had absolutely no taste. $60 later I was STARVING!
Pleasant setting, though a bit on the loud side, and really delicious food. Fries weren't tops (bits instead of strips) and after I specifically requested that a bacon jam be left off my burger, the waiter didn't think to tell me that there's bacon in the side of Brussels sprouts I ordered, so couldn't give an "outstanding" rating.
With the departure of Napa, Harlan holds the crown as the best burger in Stamford. This restaurant is a go-to for us when we are eating without a little one in tow, but don't have a lot of time before the babysitter needs to leave. The food is always good, the cocktails are interesting, and the prices are reasonable for the area. The Harlan Chips are finally back on the menu (hallelujah!) and are a must-try. The burger is the kind of rich "grown-up" burger experience we long for: decadent, moist, and delicious. Harlan is also a great spot for business meetings, whether in a small or large group. Highly recommend this spot in Stamford.
One of my favorite places. They are just so inventive with the menu, but without anything feeling like it's too scary to try.
Each time I go back there's new stuff to order.
They have a great beer selection and service is always spot on.

We've dined here for Sunday brunch on numerous occasions, our most recent experience revealed lackluster food and slow service despite an empty dining room at the outset of brunch service. A cappuccino took 25 minutes, eggs overcooked and the crab cake that was to be paired with a papaya salad for $18 was in fact 2 munchkins sized cakes with a non-descript mostly shredded red cabbage side salad. Overpriced to say the least. The food felt like an after-thought and the wait-staff runners confused about which food went to what table. Poor execution from what was a stable spot known in the past for a delicious, attentive experience.
Disappointing visit. Used to love this place but after last night not sure if we will be back.
So a few things have changed: the menu is very different from what it used to be, and apparently you don't have the option to add a protein to a salad at dinner any
The food was horrible. Korean BBQ wings were ok. Wings were big but a little fatty. We were with friends and we all ordered the cod, which on the menu sounded as if it was sitting in a curry sauce. In fact, there was a pile of curry caked on the fish which rendered it inedible and the fish was very dry. At least 2 adults had stomach aches afterwards and 1 of the two had it for 2 days. This is the second time we have been there, the first time over a year ago, and would not go back again.
The Sunday Brunch menu was good and I enjoyed the crab cakes with a spicy remoulade (sp?) sauce. The 12 year old waiter who had little sense of timing and didn't know how to talk to a customer (kind of robotic/indifferent) could stand improvement, however. I would go back, but I hope the management spends more time on training
Not impressed. They overdid the food. Not in terms of cooking but in terms of the display. Oysters on a half shell don't need to be improved on. PEI Mussels don't need to be artfully arranged in a circle. The taste was fine but enough with the design.
Service was also somewhat less than attentive.
I could see going there for a brunch and sitting outside.
My wife and I had a gift certificate and decided to visit for the first time on our anniversary. My wife began w/a Vodka infused Arnold Palmer. The King would have loved it! I stuck to a Tito's on the rocks. The oyster starter was delicious as was my wife's salad. She had a delightful lobster main course--at least she was delighted. I did not ask the lobster. I had a wonderful cheeseburger prepared perfectly w/ "hand cut" fries.
The restaurant is attractively appointed and the wait-staff professional. Five folks at the adjacent booth were loud, a bit drunk, and un-Godly dull witted. The eatery ought consider an entrance exam...but we will indeed return. A. Morse
Overall it was good, however our server was rude and did not pay attention to detail. The other servers and manager made up for her lack of caring. We were having a business lunch and were in a small rush and told her that, she rolled her eyes and gave us a small attitude because she kept going away for long periods of time.
The restaurant used to be really great. Lots of menu choices and family favorites. On this occasion the restaurant was understaffed. Food selections have been severely reduced. We used to order the potato chips with blue cheese, charcuterie platters etc. Rather disappointed.
