Hardwood Bar & Smokery
Come by and enjoy great food, great drinks, and great vibes!
Hardwood Bar & Smokery features Bay Area BBQ smoked over Northern California white oak and local almond wood.
A labor of love which has become a staple here at Hardwood.
As a group of 3 we ordered the sampler and were not disappointed by the quantity and quality of the platter which included brisket, ribs, sausage and chicken plus three different sauces on the side for dipping. We also tried the fried chicken sliders and were not disappointed. Reasonably priced too.
Was so happy to book this place for a work lunch to watch the Women’s World Cup.
The food was fantastic, staff nice as can be. It’s a bit annoying to have to leave your seat to go order beer, we drank less bc of it so I’m sure they see an impact on sales with self-serve.
The largest TV they have is a projector and it’s pretty crummy quality. All in all, the area lacks a good sports bar so with a few tweaks it could be great.
The manager had the indencency to come ask for my name just to cancel my reservation right after I arrived. Never again.
Car here for game 5 warriors vs raptors. Service and food were both great and energy level was up for the game!
Best brisket ever. Also, great selection of beers and the bartenders make sure to create drinks accordingly to your taste. Big fan.
Had the sampler and added wings and sliders. Definitely hit the spot. Top it with the sundae for dessert. Under a bill for 3 with a beer each. Good deal.
Staff was great. Drinks were on point. Most def going back. Best bbq in the Bay Area!!! Good job guys! #newfave
Great spot for watching the game! They were very accommodating and our group had a good time.
Afternoon in the Fashion Design Center Area is this great little sports bar curly, regular or sweet potato fry’s, coleslaw, etc. and very tasty, with two sides of sauce. They make their own craft Beer and Blond was my choice. Perfect combo with lunch. Our friend had the chicken wings that were very good. Street parking is horrible, but we managed to find a meter a block and half away, since the 2 lots were full & more expensive. We were quite happy & lucky to find one. Large TV screens displayed sports and although a bit noisy, we enjoyed our food & afternoon get together.
They get very busy. Takes a while to get drinks. Food not a problem.
Very loud. Have to talk over noise.
Took a client here - SF doesn't have enough good BBQ places and this fills the void nicely. A little pricy, but the food justifies it.
Table was available when our party walked in. Multiple TV with the Warriors game on. Great beer selection and full bar. Food is really tasty
I recently hosted a surprise party for my boyfriend at Hardwood. The staff was attentive, accommodating and friendly. The food was absolutely amazing (& I'm from the South) and the drinks were great. I would definitely recommend this place, especially for large groups!
Was weird to have a reservation. It was a counter order experience at lunch. Super confusing!!!
Great service and a fun bar atmosphere! Food was good, and still an appropriate choice for a work lunch.
Great atmosphere! This was our first visit and we will be back!
Excellent BBQ and great bar atmosphere. Drinks were tasty and staff attentive and polite. Great place in my book!
Service was fast, and our waitress was very friendly, efficient, and professional. The beef brisket and Dino Bone special were so tender and tasty! Also enjoyed the queso and spicy chicken sliders. Great dinner with friends at a reasonable price.
Real delicious food and drinks!! Came here for lunch. You do need to order first and than you can sit down. I ordered the grilled chicken wings and they were amazing delicious. I also ordered the grilled chicken plate that came with salad and beans. The chicken was made perfect and delicious. I added some of the bbq they have. It does not come with it, so you do need to ask for it. The beans were on the sweeter side (beans were okay). It is pricey, but that's the going prices in the bay area. I will definately come back.
The ribs were tasty but quite expensive. Other food was fine but quite average and higher priced than similar food around town. Can't find any reason to go there again.
People there were enjoying their drinks and their friends, but for dining it's just not for us.
Very casual small restaurant/bar. The bbq was good and the vibe was chill. This place has a lot of tv’s playing sports and can get pretty loud. Def more of a sports bar.
The food was great but it was very overpriced.
Hardwood is a solid neighborhood spot for drinks and barbecue. The service is very good. Tables aren't especially comfortable but they work fine in a bar setting. There are plenty of TVs if you come here to watch live sports.
Their pork lumpia and queso are our favorite things to eat, along with the boozy slushies. They do run out of things sometimes. Service is always super friendly!
Tends to be pretty noisy, but we've been there during a Warriors playoff game and the Olympics. Most seating is at high tables or the bar, and there is not an accessible entrance - not an issue for us as we can carry the stroller up the stairs, but no clue how you'd enter if in a wheelchair.
Delicious BBQ food at a good price and the service was professional and very friendly. A must go for BBQ.
Four of us stopped in for a business lunch. Three of us had the chicken special, with BBQ chicken, black beans, salad and corn tortillas - delicious. The fourth person had the Hawaiian chicken plate (I think that's what it was called), delicious too. Order at the counter and they bring the food. Staff was friendly. Overall solid experience and we would all return.
Not only was the food delicious and the staff amazingly friendly, but they were so generous in donating 50% of their proceeds for Dining Out For Life. I will definitely be back!
Brisket is good but not as moist as I would prefer. No macaroni and cheese as a side!
We arrived at 6:45 on a Friday night, and the place was packed with a happy hour crowd. Incredibly loud. Their tables are situated in the middle of the action, and they're tall kiosk tables / pedestal tables. Ours was reserved, but it didn't matter. People kept putting their drinks down on our table and leaving their dirty glassware.
The food was decent and inexpensive, which was really the only positive. The house beer is terrible. Don't get that.
Our server disappeared after taking our order. A runner dropped the food at our table. After that, we had trouble getting service when we needed it. It took a long time to get anyone's attention to pay our check.
Seems like a fine place for a drink. Not a great place for a meal.
Found this place while on vacation in San Francisco. We had the brisket sliders and potato salad. Great food, bartender was a card, very entertaining.
We went here on a Thursday evening, about 9pm. This is more a bar with bbq food than a regular restaurant. We found it loud and the service was slow. The food portions are small, and the prices are high. They were out of the ribs, but for the price for 3-4 ribs, maybe it was a good thing. The flank steak was tough and not worth the $18. Three small taquitos are $8 and served in paper baskets. Very cheap feeling. $7 for nacho cheese sauce and a few chips? Outrageous. I would call this more "bbq tapas" than actual meals. We won't go here again, but if you're looking for a bar with bbq, this is the place for you.
Awesome food and drinks! Love the ambiance , attentive friendly and help staff! Food was Delicious mega mule and hootie Hooo !!
Work dinner and drinking
This secret gem in Design district had so many available tables on a Friday night! Service was super friendly and forgiving that my friends showed up at varying levels of West-Coast-lateness. I enjoyed the food a lot too, but wish they had some healthier options. Well, with BBQ, I don't deserve to have so many options anyways :)
