If I could give negative reviews for service I would. We waited over an hour for two measily dishes (a veggie and noodle) to show up. By the time I stormed back into the kitchen to demand my food, they finally revealed to me that my order has never been placed. THIS despite the fact that I had asked 3 different servers at the 40 minute mark If my food would be coming soon since my kids were starving to which each replied “yes, soon”. This means they no one ever actually checked otherwise they would have realized the waiter forgot to put in the order completely. Restaurant is understaffed and the remaining wait staff is so distraught that they basically just lie to diners. HORRIBLE experience that I have to storm INTO the kitchen just to find out the truth
I woiuld recommend this restaurant to friends.. We were lucky, because the parking was free this day. I don't know if the restaurant has validation parking, which will be really good
My favorite dishes are pepper crab & baked sea bass. They were delicious as usual. The dried scallop egg white fried rice is a bit disappointing as the rice was very dry. The beef stew in soup was excellent. Overall, the service & food are good.
Lovely experience! Service was great and all our servers were very attentive, offering dim sum to us once we sat down. Food was good and of great quality, with a good variety of all dim sum classics. Location right in Embarcadero right next to the ferry building was a plus :)
Portion is small compare to price point. The color of the oil use in cooking the Salt and pepper crab seems old.
The food is ok, nothing special. The night we went, they were having a party with very loud music which mak it impossible to hear across the table. They should have closed the restaurant since it was very unpleasant. The food cam out haphazardly and we did not get the appetizers until most of the main courses had been served. No one from the restaurant came over to apologize, despite the fact that we complained to the waiter (who was very nice but not able to do anything about it.) Ig's a shame, it's a nice room and we were very much looking forward to eating there.
This was our second time at the Harborview, so we knew what to expect. The food was delicious and came quickly to the table. Service was what we saw last time as - just good enough - as expected we had to flag someone down at the end for the check. The food was fresh and a little expensive for what it was but affordable for this part of SF. Will go again.
We expected so much more.... fancier drinks, better food and better decor. This was just a regular Chinese restaurant.... and not even a very good one.... no thank you.
Different service model then I'm use to. We had to stop servers to ask them to take orders. Seemed almost like they didnt want us there. Lots of translation difficulties. Food was really good though.
Nice place to have a casual dinner with friends or a company gathering, with a great view of the ferry building and bay bridge, which you can see better from the bar/lounge area, very clean and neat, if you’re looking for a good happy hour in town this is my go to place for happy hour with awesome bartenders that will always serve you delicious apps with a really cold beer
Service was wonderful. They were incredibly accommodating and helpful. The location and ambiance are both great for a lunch or special occasion meal.
I've been to this place many times and I always try to bring new people to experience the food, view, and environment. It never disappoints!
We had enjoyed our dinner at Harborview with amazing view of the Bay. The food was nicely presented and some of the dishes were definitely tastier and better executed than even Koi Palace, like the baked smoke black cod. While the service was definitely adequate and fair, it lacks the finesse that a higher end establishment. Not once the wait staff came by to check and refill tea or water nor did anyone come and check on the dishes if satisfactory. The overall experience is fine and would return. Hope my next visit would be even more satisfying.
Tasty dim sum and the best BBQ pork buns!! We enjoyed our lunch and will be back soon.
Lively atmosphere, quite loud. The food is wonderful, very fresh and authentic, extremely high quality. The staff are attentive and pleasant. This is not the place to go for quiet elegance, and the harbor view was difficult to see from inside the restaurant. But if you want really good food and a fun lively meal with friends, I highly recommend it.
Das Restaurant hat mit Chinesisch nichts zu tun.
Kein chinesisches Ambiente.
Ausser die Stäbchen.
Excellent food and nice, professional service. Food came out a little fast for my liking, but I'll come back many times for their duck, dumplings, and sticky rice.
It would be helpful to be informed that one should also order from the lunch menu, instead of waiting for the once-every-10-minute cart to possibly stop by. They also indicated that my opentable numbers/certificate were not working in their system. I asked them to try it again and it worked. That would have cost me an add'l $20 for a bland dim sum lunch.
The view is nice and the water service is good, but we're literally surrounded by better tasting dim sum, both expensive and not expensive.
Good food, location and service, but the main dining room could use some sound baffles, as the noise is off-putting.
Service was poor. After our waitress took our order, she disappeared. One of the requests was not heeded. It took 3 servers and finally the manager to fulfill the order. Most of the servers barely speak and understand English. We waited a long time for our dishes. But we did get a lot of attention when we paid the bill.
Excellent selection of delicious dim sum. Great service. Nice view of Embarcadero. Will be coming back again.
Great food and quick service n
Harborview is very ethnic, kind of like China or HK. The food is very good quality but it is Cantonese so we missed the lack of spice. The food came too quickly. I didn't feel like it was rushed but it was cultural. Everyone liked a least one dish a lot and those likes were all different. I like my meal served more slowly. We kept having to ask for the rice and they didn't mention it took a long time to cook. We didn't get it until after we finished all the other dishes. We usually like our rice with the food but none of the food had much sauce and everyone was still hungry so the rice was dessert. Lively place with lots of huge parties even weddings.
One and done.
Best food and service. Never disappoints.
Love that now it's on postmates and doordash. Thank you
A 2nd & new restaurant from famous R & G Owner Mr. Wong in a previously failed Crystal Jade space. Modern, great patio, good Cantonese food with heavy seafood offerings. Fast & friendly, waiter spoke pretty good English, not helpers. We liked it.
The reason for a lack of 5 stars was the service. We didn’t get served by a waiter for well into 20 minutes. We had to wave someone down to get waters, cocktails orders etc. (And yes we had reservations). They forgot our cocktail order twice. Then it took over 30 minutes to get our cocktails. We placed an order for an entree and they forgot that too. It finally came at the end of our meal.
Lunchtime is a bit of a frenzy getting people in and out. Which is probably why orders and tables get dropped out.
I would come back thinking this it was a one off situation. And the only reason to return is because the food was very good. I hope they work on their service.
Excellent Chinese food which is delicious, fresh and cooked very well
We held a large business lunch there. The staff was efficient and responsive. The preset menu options were wonderful, good amount and mix of food.
We enjoyed it so much we went back the next night. Harborview is a gem offering traditional Cantonese fare in an upscale setting. Everything was prepared just perfectly. The staff was accommodating and very pleasant. We can’t wait to go back to try more of the menu.
We went early for dinner & enjoyed the lovely setting w/a gorgeous view of the Ferry Building. The service was attentive and the food was amazing. This will be our go to place for Chinese!
Too expensive. Dim Sum was no different than any of the other high-end Dim Sum restaurants. This place was expensive because it's located at Embarcadero #4. Expensive rent.
Food no better than less upscale places and very noisy.
There was a wedding on that day. Understand guests are exciting. However they are too noise being out of the ceremony space. Hope the restaurant staff can ask them keep celebrating in the main space, not to the bar area. Thx
Very rushed experience. We booked table at 8.45 and were welcomed with a surprised look as they were about to close. We were seated and told it was last orders and needed to hurry. The food was brought very fast and in less than anhour we were outside again. Not a great experience for a party of 8 who were hoping to celebrate a child’s birthday.... Food was good though!
Never a disappointment. Great food and nice servers
Clean bathrooms. We sat outside in the patio and it was not noisy at all like the inside. Overall, good food, good service.
The dimsum was good and fresh, but the place was noisy at busy lunch hour (hard to talk to your friend across the table). What was the most unpleasant was the staff was trying to hurry everyone finish eating and take care of the checks when it was their time to have lunch. At a place like this level, I didn't expect to be rushed out of the establishment.
The dim sum was quite tasty as were the noodles. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good Cantonese cuisine.
