View/ambiance was good, but the food was not up to par.
I have only experienced the happy hour in the bar area previously, and this was my first experience in the dining room. I very much enjoyed the view and the food was amazing. My family was visiting from out of town and being restaurant owners themselves, they also very much enjoyed the food. I will definitely be back and suggest to anyone looking for a nice place to eat in Tacoma!
Food was really expensive for basically Gortons fried fish. Beer was terrible.
Love this place! It has an old school feel, great views, and incredible clam nectar!
Had cioppino with a caesar salad. Perfect light lunch. Great service. Error on the order for one of my companions which was quickly remedied. View cannot be beat. This is one of my go to places.
Been patrons here for at least 15 years - always a good meal, good service, good value and great view.
Nice ambience and view, good food, good service
We had a great meal and a very fun evening celebrating a birthday. All of the menu items, from the appetizers to the salads to the entrees to the desserts, were cooked to perfection. The hot food was hot and the cold food was cold! Drinks and wine were nice complements to our meal. Service was friendly and efficient, and the meal pacing was great for maximum enjoyment. The waterfront view is outstanding. Harbor Lights is a wonderful place for a nice meal out or a celebration event. My favorite restaurant!
We had a very nice evening food and drinks were excellent. We’ll be back.
Happened upon their “Surf & Turf@ night, which was a great value.
I've been coming here for years... as many in Tacoma have!... but I will set aside commentary based on how it was in the old days and focus on the present.
I had the oysters, which used to be carefully pan fried and never over done. Now it appears that they batter them up a bit and drop them into the deep fryer. They are still cooked reasonable well but I feel that oysters do better with PAN FRYING.
Wife had the trout (something not found on many menus anymore) and it was EXCELLENT, perfectly prepared, flakey but slightly firm texture, no muddy taste.
Daughter had kids fish n chips (well prepared )...
and to remember "the good old days" I had a double Tangueray & Tonic which was, as in the past, nice and STRONG and not served in a big tumbler with lots of tonic. I hate that!
Over the water views and basic seafood items without too much fru-fru make this a fave for me!
Yum! We had a great meal here. Everything was fresh and as described. The service and the atmosphere were awesome. I would love to dine here again.
Been going to Harbor Lights for over 50 years. Meals and service have always been excellent (even with newer owners). Wait staff are attentive, polite and do not rush you. My guests had surf and turf, captain's platter and I had steak Oscar - they even accommodated our requested changes to the meals. All were perfect. Chose cream Brule for dessert - excellent. Sat at a window looking out over the bay. As always, completely delightful and worth every penny spent. Great place to celebrate that special occasion. This has been my experience every visit - even when I was a teenager to the antique I am now!
Chef and waitress where very friendly and very good with are children
My wife and I have been dining at Harbor Lights since 1995. We have always for the most parts enjoyed the food and the value for the price. The value for the price tend to move back and forth. The Captain Platter has went from $15 to $35 in those 25 years, which is expected. However; the portion has gotten smaller. The good customer service and the restaurant excellent atmosphere has remained constant.
Harbor Lights always does a nice job.
With the open table app we arrived and waited in the bar about 5 minutes before we were seated. We were seated in a very nice table and were waited on shortly afterwards. The service was not rushed at all being that the restaurant was very busy. The service, food, desert, drinks were all top notch. We wii be going back!!
Was seated on time. Great service and good food.
Excellent seafood, however, everything was deepfried, no other choices
Celebrated Valentines Day at the restaurant I took my wife on our first date. Beautiful day and environment!! Thanks Harbor Lights
I thought everything was fine except for the advertisement wasn't what we thought it was going to be for the value that we thought we were getting. We were supposed to get a 2 for $30 special and when we got there they didn't have the special. So we just had an appetizer and left. Service was pretty good however. Appetizer was mediocre.
A lovely evening, great view and competent, if not particularly attentive service, no doubt due mainly to my lovely wife. The food was, at best, average. Appetizer (crab & artichoke dip) and salad (wedge w/bayshrimp) inoffensive if not surprisingly watery. The cioppino nicely spicy, but lacking substance. Fish, clams and muscles. What, no prawns, crab or squid? My wife's seafood mac & cheese, by comparison, was satisfying. I guess this is the blandness that is an Anthony's restaurant.
I eat fish because of the health benefits, but I don't really like it. Harbor Lights' cod was delicious! And I loved the Brussels sprouts and squash combo.
We celebrated our 46th wedding Anniversary
This is a family favorite restaurant. We have good memories from long ago.
In the 1980s and early 1990s, Harbor Lights was our go-to restaurant for all special occasions. We hadn't been there in several years until this past Saturday night. They've kept just the right amount of kitschy charm from the old days while updating the things that needed updating. Dinner was cooked perfectly and service was good on a busy Saturday night.
I've been to Harbor Lights many times, but this time it was the best. The food was delicious and we had a great view for the five of us. The waitress and others were supportive in every way.
Harbor Lights is a classic and a little gem of a place. Great view right on the water. Great location with plenty of "free" parking. Great menu and friendly service. Highly, highly recommend for casual or business lunch, casual or special dining and a must for friends and family from out of town. Thank you!
Waitress was outstanding. Host was insolent. Out of petrale sole at 6:45 so ordered a filet. So tough I couldn't cut it. Exchanged for fabulous halibut.
I have always loved Harbor Lights because my mother loved it..... I do miss the old photos that went away..... there were people there that I knew....
Super loud. Mediocre food, but large amounts of it. Limited bar. Service, however, was very good
The service was terrible. I will not recommend just for that alone.
It was noisy. And can’t believe does not even provide a free desert for a birthday? Seriously. Cheap l!!!!!!!!!
Excellent service and food. Noise level really high to start.
We have been going to Harbor light for many years. Way before if was part of Anthony’s chain. We love it as it is part of the Tacoma history. Great seafood as well as steaks.
Great birthday dinner for our middle aged daughter who calls the restaurant the grey hair place.
Always excellent. The server went out of her way to be sure we had everything. Looking forward to the next visit!
Food & service was excellent. Nice table, view would be nice in the daylight or later in the year when it is lighter later.
Very noisy environment. Service was prompt and professional.. Food came out too quickly couldn’t finish salad and appetizer before main course came.. over all enjoyable meal though. Will be back for sure!
Great location. Food was OK but the lunch menu is basic.
Service was great. Did take sometime to get our dinner. One did have baked cod and waiter did explain that is what held it up. Still love coming to Harbor Lights for special meals. Been doing Harbor Lights since early 60’s.
