We have to say that we think Harbor House is overrated. Maybe it’s the crowded, special day times we come, or the new chef, but the quality of food seems to have gone downhill. Although the oysters were good, if overpriced, the halibut and rainbow trout were overcooked, dry and tasteless. The clam strip appetizer were fried to the point of being burnt. The key lime pie was good, but looked repackaged. All in all, Red Lobster quality, for three times the price. Also, the served was a little haughty and cool. We’d recommend Lake Park Bistro instead, out of the whole Bartolotta group.
Easily one of the top 5 meals I’ve had in my life. The 2 servers (Stacy and Jessica) were fantastic and a real asset to your team.
One small criticism is there was someone singing when we walked in that was extremely loud and almost made me walk out as quickly as I walked in.
My go to in Milwaukee! The best Martinis, steak and seafood for sure!
Location , location, location....beautiful setting, and great serivice. (Enrigue was very attentive and excellent)
Great food great service great time! Will definitely be back again, and will bring more people with me.
Second time we’ve been here this month, brunch and now dinner with friends. Food was outstanding and service was impeccable! Can’t wait to return
The food was not as good as it has been in the pass. Was not to busy not that that would be an excuse for so so good. A little disappointed
I loved everything about this restaurant - especially the service!
We went here for an early Father’s Day. We were seated promptly and our waitress Genevieve was courteous and timely. The view at Harbor House is amazing. Now to the food. The shell fish bisque, which I had, was very good and my husband liked his clam chowder. We both live crab cakes and chose that as our entree. Unfortunately, we can’t even say it was bad, that would have required it to have flavor. A good crab cake in my opinion should not need to be smothered in tartare sauce. Not to not that the cake itself was much smaller than the bun. In my opinion a seafood restaurant should know better than that. I lived there n FL for many years but have also had crab cakes in the mid Atlantic region and out west. This was hands down at the bottom of the list. I must confess when the manager came by we did not say anything as there were people sitting around us within earshot. We did not take pictures of the food case well, it was not worth memorializing.
The Lobster Bisque was amazing. The service was great. The Lake Michigan view was breathtaking.
Setting superb, evening lighting with lake reflections magical, service cavalier, scallops appetizer perfect balance, Alaskan salmon entree’ w/risotto bland, swordfish nice, coffee delish...recommend eat at the bar, enjoy the vibe and appetizers/rolls, and skip the reluctant wait staff.
Has a lot of potential, but cramming way too many tables in there. Noise level is accordingly high. Food is ok but the overall experience is just not worth it.
My friend recommended this place for my family and I to enjoy a little lunch after our court house wedding. We wanted a cozy spot that offered a spectacular view! This place definitely fit the bill. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Our waitress brought my new hubby and I each a glass of champagne. Lunch was phenomenal and enjoyed every bite. Definitely will be back and highly recommend!
The food was outstanding, the service was attentive but not in your face. Enjoyed the view as well!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our business lunch at Harbor House. We had guests from out of town that loved the stunning view of the Art Museum and the Milwaukee skyline. A couple people enjoyed the succulent scallops, others enjoyed crab cakes and the perch sandwich. Would highly recommend Harbor House for any occasion when you want excellent food and a great venue.
Exceptional food and service. Frequently you get one or the other but not both. Five stars!
Our server Krystal was wonderful. So was the other server ( cannot remember her name). Food was awesome!
Cant wait to go back again. The food was fresh, the views were amazing and I really enjoyed myself.
Great Food! Great Customer Service! The waiter was excellent and explain the delicious dishes that was available for that day! Was also helpful with the wine list! The service was very fast !
We always have a wonderful experience at Harbor House. Love being right on Lake Michigan and our food is always delicious.
Tuna was over cooked, crab cake was just okay for the price and service was average. Desserts were the highlight. For the price would go elsewhere.
Everything was wonderful. However, we hit a very busy evening -- graduation parties, special Brewers function in the back room, loud music in the bar area that spilled into dining area. It was much noisier than we would have hoped.
We were welcomed with Champagne as it was our anniversary, this was a very nice touch. We ordered oysters rockefeller for our appetizer, they were perfect, simply amazing, taste spot on. I had the Wedge husband had the bisque for starters both well done. The problem was with my entree. I ordered filet medium, I got filet rare, they immediately took it back to cook some more, meanwhile I urged my husband to eat so his branzino wouldn't be cold, his fish was very good. By the time I got my steak back it was well done, not medium, at this point my husband was done with his fish so I just had them box it up. they included two complementary desserts which was a very nice touch but I would have preferred my filet cooked properly so my spouse and i could enjoy our dinners together. For a restaurant of this caliber there is no excuse for improperly cooked main entrees, especially an item that is a staple on their menu.
Harbor House has a scenic location and sound interior design. The seafood had a better quality than many other restaurants, and the brunch options were diverse and done well. The desserts and baked-goods were impressive, given that the establishment is a restaurant and not a bakery. My only suggestions are as follows:
The omelettes were well-made by friendly staff, though the dish itself could have been made more interesting with better or more-carefully provided ingredients, particularly spices and cheeses, but also vegetables.
The servers were friendly and approachable, but we received conflicting instructions as to whether we should wait for the server, make an order, or begin with brunch. There was an odd delay in any staff assisting us or providing clarity, and, despite being seated and having spoken with a member of the staff, we did not seem to be assigned a server until I flagged someone down from the kitchen who had a moment to speak with another staff member. The experience might benefit from a more streamlined approach to dining or certainty that guests could be assisted once seated. However, all of the staff were respectful and kind during our interactions.
Amazing food, great atmosphere & service! We could not stop talking about how great the entire experience was, from sitting at the bar enjoying drinks & the great entertainment by the bartenders to the delicious meals with a beautiful view.
1st time at Harbor House for an anniversary dinner. Views were amazing, service was phenomenal, food was outstanding,
atmosphere was up beat. The meal was not an inexpensive dinner by any means, but worth every penny. I would recommend it, and we will return!
Excellent venue with even better service. Great place for a Saturday lunch.
I’m from Indy and I wanted to eat at a nice sea food restaurant and found Harbor House. The view is absolutely beautiful. We sat outside on a wonderful day, with the sunshine and the breeze, it was wonderful. It got busy very quickly, but I don’t feel like the service started to lack in anyway. I don’t have any other experience to compare the price to, but the prices ranged from $20-$40 for entrees, which I expected.
You walk in and you know it’s going to be noisy. We approached the desk and waited. The hostess was doing something in the computer and did not look up. She finally acknowledged our presence and checked our reservations. We were the first of our party of 5 to arrive and she asked us if we wanted to wait (right there?) or wanted to be seated. Our table was near the front and we had to weave the length of the building to get there. I felt there were too many tables in the building. We sat and ordered a drink. As our friends arrived they did the same. As our conversation went on we realized the server never asked us for our food order. We had to ask the person filling our water. She finally did. Our food did come out in a reasonable time. I had the swordfish. It was very dry. I wanted to complain to the waitress but she did not return. I finally ate it. In sum poor service, uneven food and very pricey for just the view.
Awesome as usual. Known for seafood but the steaks are incredible too
We truly love harbor house, but have noticed the increased number of tables and how close they are to one another. It has taken away from some of the ambience this restaurant typically has and also increased the noise level.
Service is great, food is great, view is spectacular!
Harbor house has great food and the restaurant is very nice. The wait staff was very nice and always came around to ask if we needed anything. It is a bit pricey but the food is really fresh and the fish is sent in.
great upscale/buisness restaurant in Milwaukee. my wife and I even got complementary champagne for our anniversary
Food and service was delicious!!
A lovely restaurant on the water. Service and food are excellent. Very patient, helpful staff. When full, the restaurant is noisy, but not intolerable.
Went to dinner with three others from UW-M and were seated right on time for our reservation. View was amazing and the filet cut like butter. My friend had the bone in rib eye and ate every bite except the bone, so I am certain he enjoyed his. Waitstaff was attentive but waited for a break in our conversation to check on us. We had a wonderful time and a dinner we will remember.
Everything was perfect! Delicious food and. A beautiful patio to dine on and a great view of the lake ❤️
Another great meal at Harbor House. And you can't beat the location. Go! You'll love it.
Staff was amazing and accommodating. Food was impeccable and sitting at the chef table was such a treat.
For years I have been hearing about Harbor House and how wonderful it was. So, this week when I was in Milwaukee, I wanted to dine there and see what everyone had been talking about. It was a huge and expensive disappointment. I could have been there on an off-night but since the place was less than a quarter full, can't blame the crowds. It seemed that both the food and service were lacking that evening.
1. I ordered Oysters Rockefeller, a dish that most every fish restaurant makes these days. It was served almost cold and had very little flavor. I sent it back and the second time it was a bit warmer but lacked taste. That dish usually explodes with flavor.
2. Next, I ordered the fried clam plate. Again, disappointing for quite a hefty price, no less. The plate was about 80% fries for filler. The clams consisted of maybe a half cup of fried clams which wasn't enough for even an appetizer size. The tiny portion of clams looked silly sitting atop the huge portion of fries.
3. My wife order the sample plate of fresh oysters. Usually at an upscale fish restaurant, the server will point out to the customer the names of the various oysters and where they came from. Not here. The server dropped them off and left with no explanation. Really?!
All this left me unimpressed and disappointed that I spent a lot of money for a mediocre dinner. Let me recommend another restaurant that we dined at the next night which was fabulous and did things right - Third Coast Provisions, downtown Milwaukee. It was a great experience!
