Food and service were very good very dark inside and the 1 side of dining room had people wearing coats so we moved. Found it odd that some ladies (dressed very well) wondering around then finally sitting with a staff member. We had 1 thought on this but will leave that off
The live music was a great surprise. Perfect way to bring in the New Year
Food was great; waitress was great. Atmosphere was not great--place needs a facelift and some cleaning. Bathrooms dirty.
Shelby, Sorry about the bathrooms. We do take them seriously. They can go from perfect to less than perfect quickly. We will be more aggressive. Our state of the art baths have seat cleaner dispenser in each stall, high-end hands free soap, faucets, paper dispensers, custom solid wood partitions w full size doors, granite counter tops w under mount sinks. the will be extra pretty with new art work in a couple weeks. Restaurant is currently being remodeled. 50% Complete, expected completion Feb 1
Food and drinks were good. Ambience was less than desirable. It feels like a hole in wall bar. Unexpectedly good but the booths are falling apart and seems a little run down.
Hi Megan, Glad you said, "food and drinks were unexpectedly good". Regarding ambience we are currently remodeling and new gorgeous booths were installed on 1/3/2022. Normally we would repair sooner but we knew we had new arriving. Many other exciting remodeling projects will be taking place over the next few weeks. We have always purchased high quality products and used unique excellent recipes. Very soon we will have one of the nicest atmospheres downtown as well! Thank you for dining with us!
All of the appetizers as well as the food was outstanding and the waiter was very nice
I was the last person in and they gave me such excellent service! I will definitely be back :)
Food was nothing exciting and the food came out very quickly. We were done in less than an hour. The problem I had was the swarm of fruit flies hovering around our table. We were seated near the kitchen and they were all over the cucumber I didn’t eat from my salad. We were constantly waving them away from the food we were eating. Employees used the bar as a place to leave their kids while the worked or waited for child care to arrive.
The service and food was excellent
Seated quickly. Took 45 minutes before the waitress arrived. Another long wait before dinner.
Killer Shrimp was awesome, steak was good but not awesome, main disappointment was the wine list - it actually had some good choices and good values, but they didn’t have any of their by-the-bottle wines available when we ordered them. Server and owner/manager were friendly.
This was our first time at the Harbor House. We made the reservation because the restaurant was close to our event at Ford Field. We were pleasantly surprised at the service and taste and quality of the food. Many homemade items on the menu, such as soup, bread, butter. We both had frog legs and steak bites. The batter on the frog legs was light and tasty. The steak bites were tender and flavorful. The service was outstanding. Our server, Chelsea, was very attentive to our every need. Checked on us frequently. The surroundings were clean and just the right lighting.
Would go there again in a moment.
I already recommended this restaurant to our close friends as they like to dine before events.
We were in town for the Stones concert and made a reservation on open table. Everything was perfect. The food was delicious, beautiful presentation, right temperature and fresh.
The manager John was fun and friendly. Our server Tony was great. Friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and fast!
Harbor House was a great date night dinner. We had Open Table reservations, but the place wasn’t crowded when we arrived. A lot of pick-up orders being placed while we were there. It was listed as business casual attire, however, this was not the case. It was definitely more casual, but that’s ok. The food was amazing! My husband loved his gumbo soup and jambalaya dish…he can be picky sometimes so that’s saying something! I thoroughly enjoyed the Lobster Mac and Cheese. I got the appetizer portion and it was huge! Would definitely come back. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
The food was ok, small portions. I asked for baked potato with butter only, it came with butter and sour cream. My husband was a fan of the all you can eat, which is no longer, HH was his favorite restaurant, not any longer. And the gratuity is pre added, which is a total turn off.
Great Job, Great Service, Great Experience
Very good date night spot. The food is pretty good but it’s the ambience for me.
The seafood dishes were absolutely delicious! Generous servings, too! We appreciate the staff at Harbor House for going out of their way to serve us. I have an autoimmune disease and cannot be seated inside near others, without a mask. So, they set up an igloo for me and my husband, and we dined outside alone, without risk to me. Our server was attentive and pleasant. We had a lovely time and will definitely return.
I was seated fast, I waited about 5 minutes so that was awesome to me. The waiters was polite and attentive. The food was delicious, flavorful and hot. I definitely will be going back I had a beautiful experience and I love the music.
Amazing food. Came for the opa and wasn't disappointed. Everything was great.
First for a seafood restaurant, the seafood was overcooked. Crab was watery and almost an edible. Our service was horrible, for what the restaurant costs, I would expect both better service and food.
They were severely understaffed when we arrived for our reservation. We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation and were told they were having problems that night with seating everyone. After waiting for 45 minutes at the bar without any drink service, we decided to leave and eat somewhere else.
Horrible from time of entry to seating absolutely deplorable staff and food disgusting. Burnt steak uncooked soup watered down drinks undone bread and the nerve to force a gratuity and the waitress was not worth a wooden nickel. Everything on that table I know how to cook and have before. I am AN ESSENTIAL WORKER AND I 16 HOURS THAT DAY just wanted to enjoy a nice dinner with my dinner guest BUT NOPE NOT
Made a reservation on opentable went in and they told us that they don’t accept reservations from the app.
My husband and I were celebrating my birthday and the baptism of our son. I was apprehensive of booking a igloo online because I’ve read a lot of reviews from guest at other establishments explaining the issues they had. So I called the day before our reservation to confirm that I actually booked the igloo. After confirmation the next day we show up maybe 10 minutes early to give our name. We were met with a dismissive attitude and basically treated like our reservation didn’t matter. I explained how I called and even had the text confirmation. Of course again the young lady was still trying to argue me down that I did not do that. Instead of meeting her where she was at I asked that The manager came by to clear things up but even he had a hard time locating the reservation. Instead of getting frustrated I waited until he cleared it up. After 45 mins we were seated. What was most upsetting is this was our first outing in a year and folks were making it so hard for me to spend my money. I understand Covid delays and everything but to dismiss me as if I was trying to get over was rude. I’m glad the food and drinks made up for the unnecessary rudeness.I’m sure they were short staffed and what nots but my recommendation is in order to turn your igloos add a timer once folks get their food therefore you get folks in and out and be on time.
We had a great time, even ran into some old friends.
Nothing stood out, Boring vibe. Service was good, I enjoyed my food (fish and loaded pot) just a few patrons so seating wasn't a issue at all. Overall just ehhhh.
Horrible customer service. We made reservations online just for the host to tell us when we arrived that they were not doing online reservations. Then the host never wrote our party name down so we waited additional hour to be seated while other people were getting seated before us that showed up after us. Very horrible customer service !!!!!
It does NOT honor reservations on OpenTable. EVER. They were completely confused as to why people keep showing up claiming to have reservations.
We came for the seafood which would have been quite good if served promptly. We chose platters for variety, including catfish, shrimp, cod, and bouillabaisse. The gumbo was also quite good.
The food is amazing. The service not at all acceptable. We had to ask several times for drinks, half of our meal, and water refills. We requested salt and pepper but didn’t receive it until halfway through our meals. Server came to the table with no pen or paper twice before our order could be taken. We won’t be back, and that’s too bad, because that crab is delicious.
Food was really good but service was non existent.
It's was a great experience, I will definitely be back!
Food was great.
Amazing staff great food, never had to make a complaint
Food could had been better server was rude and i made a reservation but when i got to the place they same that they dont do same day reservations
Very kind and accommodating waitress, food was accurate and tasty
It was me an my Husband Date night
An we had dinner at Harbor house Downtown Detroit
In a heated igloo it was really nice an romantic
Food was really good
An the waiter was very nice an the service was excellent
We enjoyed our date night in a heated igloo with candles
Food and service was good. Our igloo was toasty and comfortable.
They aren’t doing endless crab or the all you can eat menu due to covid which wasn’t made clear. Two different beers were flat for me and my husband. Staff were arguing about their seating sections. Food was decent but maybe a little overpriced when you take into account the aforementioned.
The food is not great here. The crab cakes are horrible.
