    This was a great visit, although a chef walked out mid service for undisclosed reasons, the server communicated this right off the bat and made accommodations to get us served quickly. I would definitely love to go again and try the chefs picks.

    Such a fun menu! A wide range of items all prepared with fresh and many novel ingredients, locally sourced where possible. Small plates easy to share and lets you try many things. Loved the avocado roll, beets, BBQ. Knowledgeable and attentive wait staff.

    The food at Harbinger is superb. We’ve eaten there twice now and look forward to finding an excuse to go back again soon. While it is rather expensive for the Midwest it is a very good value thanks to the high quality ingredients and exceptionally creative artistry. Yet another fine establishment raising the bar in Des Moines. Only criticism whatsoever is that our fellow patrons got a bit loud. Not sure much can be done about that.

    My boyfriend and I came here on Sunday for an early Valentine's Day date. Our server, whose name, sadly, I don't remember, was amazing! She was petite and had really pretty blonde hair. She was so informative and funny and had excellent timing with checking in on us. We made a note in our reservation that we were celebrating Valentine's Day early and she brought us each a flute of complimentary champagne. Which was such a sweet gesture! We decided to pick our own tasting menu and more or less ordered the entire menu. Everything sounded so good! It was American/South Asian fusion and all of the dishes were very interesting. The green garlic pancake and our octopus dish stood out. The octopus was prepared SO well. It was so tender. The pork buns were also delicious. They were open faced and real tasty. The wine list was awesome and the cocktails all sounded phenomenal. I don't live in Des Moines but I visit relatively frequently and I will ABSOLUTELY be back!
