About Hapa Sushi Grill and Sake Bar Lodo
The name Hapa is derived from the Hawaiian term that describes a harmonious blend of Asian and American cultures. Like our name, our food reflects this dynamic combination. The menu is based on traditional Japanese cooking fundamentals which are then amplified, muted, or mixed with influences from many different styles of cooking until they are something completely new: they’re Hapa. We have stretched the boundaries of creativity to develop dishes that defy all the rules while holding true to our roots. We hope you will find our menu innovative, uninhibited, and distinctly fun! Incomplete parties will not be sat until complete.

Hapa Sushi Grill and Sake Bar Lodo Ratings and Reviews
We sat out on the patio for late night happy hour, food was amazing but service was absolutely terrible. We waited over 15 min before a server finally came over to greet us and took just as long to get drinks and food back to our table. Thanks to great company it wasn't a total loss but next time I think we will sit at the sushi bar were we won't be ignored.
Happy Hour prices and specials are great but overall was disappointed in the quality of sushi. Some of the other items ordered from the menu were better, but went with the intent of having sushi and left disappointed. Service was pretty on-point and was great about water refills.
I want to mention that I had given Hapa a less than stellar review previously but decided to give them another opportunity and they completely exceeded my expectations.
For those with allergies, when I made my reservation on Open Table - I made sure to mention my allergies (not somethign I'd done previously).
Hapa called the day of the reservation to confirm the res and my allergies. When we arrived, I was offered a gluten free menu and both the host and waiter confirmed my allergies. My food arrived and again the waiter confirmed that my food was gluten and dairy free. It was maybe the first time I've EVER been to a restaurant nd had people care so much about my allergies. The food was amazing and I was even able to get one of my favorites (the magic mushroom)!
My husband does not have any allergies but can be picky and he too was over the moon with his order.
I can't recommend Hapa enough and we will be returning again very soon.
Thank you, Hapa, for the great experience.
The food was good for a non-traditional Japanese restaurant. The service and the ambiance I thought were really good. Seemed like a fun place to go for a date or group. I went with my family.
But if you are a hard-core sushi/sashimi eater then this is not the place to go. They have a very limited selection of higher quality fish, so things like tai, ama ebi, and hirame were not on the menu. They did have uni (didn't try) and a special of spanish-aji which was pretty good, but not to the level I would expect at for example Sushi Den.
Been to this Hapa over a dozen times. This time, as has happened before, our order was messed up. However, the mistake was handled very well by both the wait staff and manager, by quickly bringing a new food (half of our meal had been unknowingly been taken to the wrong table), circulating apologies, and comping the food messed up +1. Well-handled; will be back!
We had a reservation but chose to eat at the bar. Mistake. The bar staff was pleasant but inattentive, spending less time checking on us and others as more of their friends arrived. The food was very good, especially the salmon. I'd go back but sit at a table
My friend and I have been dining at Hapa for years. Unfortunately that may be coming to an end. They brought me the wrong dish, it took forever for them to bring me another which ended up being exactly the one they'd brought me first, my friend's dinner went cold while she waited for them to get my order correct. Our drinks took forever AND they were going to charge me for the messed up order. I had to ask the manager to remove the charge. I feel trey should've comped my friends' dinner as well but they didn't. So disappointed. Worst service ever.
My husband and I require gluten free options and I selected this restaurant because they had a good gluten free menu. We ordered an edamame appetizer and thought we had told the server about our allergies but unfortunately the appetizer wasn't gluten free. It was an honest mistake and miscommunication. The manager comped our meal and then gave us a gift certificate to makeup for the mistake. It was over the top and we thanked them for the generosity. We will definitely be dining with them again!!
In the past, I have had nothing but outstanding experiences at this restaurant; however, this time was different. It took over 25 minutes to get our drinks and each time we ordered another drink, it would take another 20 minutes to get it. In addition, we never got miso soup that we ordered and they still tried to charge us for it. They fixed the bill once we complained but it was disappointing to see their lack of attention to detail.
First, I realize it can be a difficult job but if I were the manager for a chain such as Hapa, then I would not make a big deal about a $3 coupon for a $50 meal. I certainly wouldn't question the customer about details of the discount after my waiter has [already] approved it.. Only to be proved wrong myself, after making a big deal about asking another manager. Second, when customers ask for change, it is a good idea not to assume your minimum tip and hence not provide any small denomination bills; that only annoys customers. Third, the grilled salmon sushi dries out the fish and rice (at least this time, it did) and is not recommended. Otherwise, I'm a regular at Hapa and regular restauranteur but won't be returning to this location for a while, if I can help it.. The professionalism many restaurants offer (positive and thankful managerial staff, for example) really is what counts.
Service was great. Our waiter was very attentive. He noticed we were on a business dinner and asked if we wanted separate checks. We appreciated that we didn't have to ask. I had the sashimi combo. Delicious! Our waiter made sure to suggest the order to eat to enjoy the flavor. Very nice touch!
