Hank's Seafood Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The options were interesting and the food was fantastic. We are from Boston and particular about our seafood. The service was also outstanding. And whatever you do... order a side of fried mashed potatoes. Sublime. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert. But I'm still thinking about the peanut butter pie I saw on the menu.
We were visiting out of town to celebrate our anniversary. We wanted to try some local seafood. We picked Hanks out of many other choices.
We were glad we did. It was excellent all around. Food, service, ambience were all great. We had crab cakes and swordfish. The fish was the freshest ever. The side dishes were excellent too esp. the roasted Brussels sprouts. We had Creme brûlée too. Excellent! The only thing that was just okay was the bread.
Our server was just right on details and serving us. Hanks is great and we highly recommend.
Food is excellent. Our party of 2 had roasted grouper and sautéed flounder and both were exceptional. Service is professional and courteous and well-paced. Outstanding bread offered with dinner. Place was packed and people were waiting but our 7 pm reservation was honored professionally and we were seated immediately at a good table.
The best seafood in Charleston. Superb oyster stew was followed by fresh kale, pear, walnut and Gorgonzola salad. Grilled salmon was perfect on bed of creamed spinach surrounded by purée of potatoes and celery root. A real slice of pecan pie finished off a great dinner. We’ll be back!
We were visiting and received a recommendation on Hank's. It was WONDERFUl! Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and charismatic. The food was terrific! We had the clam chowder and she crap soup, seafood la wonda (sp) pecan pie and wine. We will certainly be back the next time we are in town. True Southern hospitality at it's finest.
Hank’s is heavily recommended for a reason. It is the best seafood restaurant that we have ever been to. The ambiance is old world the waitstaff everything you could ask for the “new old fashion” artisanal cocktail outstanding and the food not only was beautiful to look at but absolutely well executed. Kudos to the chef and all the staff. No wonder it was packed on a Tuesday night!!! Highlight of a foodie vacation to Charleston.
Fantastic place! GREAT food. Our waiter was a real pro who was friendly and knowledgeable. He helped us to select a great food. We had raw oysters, she crab soup, shrimp and grits, and bouillabaisse. Loved it all! We like to dine and enjoy good food. And service. This was perfect!
Wife's birthday dinner was excellent!
They made me the ceviche appetizer without shrimp as I am allergic.
Wife had the Hank's salad.
She had the #4 Southern seafood dinner and I had the Scallops.
All the food was fantastic and the service matched.
Too full to try dessert but the menu looked great.
We will return.
I took my husband here for his birthday and although we travel to Charleston frequently, this was our first time dining at Hank's. Made reservations online and when we got there we were seated right on time. It was very crowded and had a wait for a couple of hours. So definitely make reservations in advance. Our server was great! Food was absolutely amazing as well! This will definitely be a "must eat" added to our Charleston trips in the future!
We had requested a booth with our on line reservation. When we arrived we were seated at a small table for two. When we asked to be moved to a booth, we were told our party of two was not large enough to warrant a booth. We were very early (5:30pm) and there were booths available. There was a party of three seated in a booth. We also told the young lady we were fast eaters and would be out in less than 45 minutes. She still would not allow it. We went to the other young lady to request a table that sat four to allow for more room since we are an elderly couple. There was plenty of room available in the restaurant. We were seated at a larger table but not in the booth as requested.
