Always a treat when we come to Charleston. Best Seafood in Charleston.
Loved Hank’s so much we made another trip to Charleston primarily to eat here. The only faults are that my husband and I had to stand around rather a long time to get a table we had reserved a month in advance and when we were seated we froze every time the door opened. The food is outstanding as is the waitstaff. The room is reminiscent of a posh old fashion big city dining establishment.
A little hoity toity but awesome food and service
The lobsters are the best I’ve had. I don’t eat lobster much, they do know how to make it. I
If you are in Charleston and love seafood, Hanks’s is a must.
It was very crowded and we had to wait at the bar about 15 minutes but it was lively and good.
For the very first time ever, we had a waiter who was unpleasant and not attentive. I feel bad having to complain but since you sent me this email I thought i would mention it.
We will come back?????
Very disappointing. More of a tourist trap than a fine restaurant. Rushed, noisy and mediocre dinner.
Our food was very overpriced. It did taste good- scallops were cooked perfectly. Steamed shrimp was fresh. When you pay over $30 a plate, you expect the flavors of the vegetables and protein to be bettered paired.
This place never disappoints. Always excellent! We try and eat here every time we are in Charleston.
Food was very good, drinks just OK. Place was very loud.
would def recommend to others.
Seafood LaWanda was awesome!
Hank’s is a well respected long time favorite in Charleston and did not disappoint. Service is perfect and there is even a community table now. My bouillabaisse was fantastic and my husband’s special sole and crabmeat were outstanding. Reservations needed!
Great time and food! Will definitely go back!
Our server Ben made our night very pleasant and enjoyable.
Would definitely return to this restaurant.
Service was 5 Star. Quality of food was 5 Star. But didn’t break the bank. A must visit during a trip to Charleston. There wasn’t a table available in the restaurant at 5pm when they opened!!!
Hank's never fails to deliver. We have been going to Charleston for visits for the last few years and one of the treats is dining at Hank's. It is familiar, comfortable like the old classic dining rooms from old. The wait staff are all dressed in white jackets. The walls are paneled and the décor is old southern charm personified. You can go dressed up or down everyone feels welcomed. The wait staff is friendly and great. The food is always spot on. You need to try the shrimp and grits the best we had in all of Charleston. The hush puppies are to die for. The food is always fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. A real charming place to dine.
It was our Anniversary and it was so noisy and loud! Food was ok, bartender had no personality and the service was ok.
There are other places I’d go before going back.
We loved the food and ervice. We will definitely go back!
Food was excellent. Salmon entree was very well prepared
Servers were attentive. Very nice room with beautiful bar.
Ginger lime drink well crafted.
The food was excellent and the service was impeccable.
We had an incredible meal where the food and service were both exceptional. Don't miss out on the dining experience at Hank's.
Hanks was recommended by some local residents as the best seafood in Charleston. I can't argue with that. The food was perfect, the waiter was helpful and attentive and the cocktails and wine were exquisite. A wonderful meal in a beautiful setting.
The food was very good but I could have eaten a larger portion of fish. It was about 3" square.
The restaurant was very noisy so go somewhere else for intimate conversations.
Casey, our server was very good and food delicious
Hank's has been one of our favorite seafood restaurants for years. The seafood is always fresh and the base menu does not change. If you have a favorite dish, almost surely it will always be there. This year we had fried oysters--excellent but could have been a little spicier--and seafood a la Wando--an excellent dish of mixed seafood in a cream sauce.
Lived up to the hype. A Charleston classic. Brandon was awesome would dine again indeed
Enjoyable dinner, very good seafood restaurant, swordfish and tuna cooked perfectly and our waiter, Matt, was excellent! Definitely would return next trip to Charleston!
We expected the Shrimp and Grits to be outstanding and it was. The calamari appetizer was great. The Oyster Shooter cocktail was disappointing. The oyster had no taste. My wife loved the pecan pie saying it was the best she ever had. I did not like the pecan pie. I’ve had much better.
Vacationing in Charleston and found Hanks’s via internet reviews. We had a fabulous dinner. The atmosphere, food and service were all on point. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
The food and service was delicious as always! The She Crab soup is a MUST!! Everything was excellent, highly recommend Hanks when you are in Charleston and want amazing seafood.
Dinner at Hank's is always a highlight to a Charleston trip. I dream of the Bouillabaisse. It's the best--anywhere.
Everything was great. Our server was prompt . The appetizer came out hot and in good time directly followed by out main course . This is one of my favorite place to dine.
Our first visit, though we've walked past many times. We'll stop every time now, as Hank's is quite good. Sorry we had not visited before. Excellent.
I make it a tradition to eat at Hank's every time I go to Charleston. Service is wonderful and meals are served in a timely manner. Looking forward to next time already!
Great seafood, must have reservations, great liquor, wine and beer selections. Noisy table of 8 women could not be toned downthey all had to talk over one another.
Very underwhelmed with the food, especially considering the cost of the meal. Menu is focused but varied and everything looks appetizing. Wait staff is friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the finished product was underwhelming. Food was heavy and flavors were too strong on both dishes my wife and I ordered, and each meal had so much happening on each plate that it was challenging to enjoy any one aspect of a meal because it felt crowded by others flavors. If the meals were $15-$30 per entree I might be willing to return and try again, but for $30-$35 per entree I would hesitat to go back.
Go for the bouillabaisse! Really how many places make an excellent bouillabaisse?!
For the appetizer, I had the smoked salmon which I was told the restaurant prepares. It was
My husband and I were visiting Charleston and with some advice of locals, picked Hank's.
A winner, but be sure to reserve. It's a hoppin' place.
Best seafood restaurant in Charleston . We had a wonderful experience.
