The food was good. It was a very energetic place. I would recommend.
Everything was great, we had the Lump Crab Cocktail, She-crab soup and Bouillabaisse all fantastic!
Visiting in Charleston. Of all the places we ate, Hanks surpassed them all. Wonderful seafood and exceptional staff. Definitely recommend over Any other restaurant in the area
Wonderful service and delicious food. All four of us were very pleased. The scallops are amazing. Also they had gluten free selections for my friend!
Excellent food and great service. A winner!
Great food and impeccable service. Best she crab soup and wonderful pecan pie. (Best I've had so far in Charleston) wonderful open dining room. Had drinks, entree and desert at a good price. Will be back again to enjoy some of the other dishes.
Really excellent seafood. My wife had the bouillabaisse and I had the Seafood a la Wando. Had the She Crab soup and that is a must. We noticed a lot of people had the fried dishes but that seems a waste of good seafood. The only downside is that the tables are close together and it was loud so it was easier to talk to the people next to us instead of being able to talk together.
Our 2nd time to Charleston and 2nd time to Hank's, we couldn't wait to get there as the food is simply amazing along with the service!
Lived up to its reputation, superb food well prepared. Perhaps the tables could have been spaced out a little more.
The food quality and presentation was top notch. The wine selection was a high quality and variety. The service was good but I have had better service in Downtown Charleston. The restaurant is somewhat noisy which woukd be a detrimental atmosphere for a romantic evening.
Outstanding! Still one of the best in Charleston.
The food is exceptional and the service is terrific and
very personable. Great bar and perfect location in the
center of the city.
My second time to Hank's in the past 3 weeks. Great food and terrific service. Two for two and my son just purchased us a gift card as a gift. Looking forward to going again.
We've always received excellent service and wonderful food. I highly recommend it.
Everything from the starter to the dessert was delicious. Crab cakes were far more crab than any type of filler and the sauce was really a highlight to the dish. Every bite of the sautéed flounder with asparagus salad was flavorful and tender and the plouff mud torte which was a flourless chocolate cake was perfectly complemented with a scoop of rich vanilla ice cream. Definitely worth waiting until a 9 pm reservation for an excellent dinner.
Loved it! First visit for us.
Food was excellent! A Great upscale seafood restaurant.
Ate at Hank's while staying overnight in Charleston. Child friendly, accommodating, and great food. I love the waiters wearing those classic white server jackets, it gives a nice touch.
My wife and I shared a tuna tartare which was delicious and SUPER fresh. The fried calamari was good too. My kids split a buttermilk chicken which got 2 thumbs up... the chicken tenders for my youngest got a thumbs up too!! My wife ordered the bouillabaisse and I had the Seafood a La Wando. Both were delicious. Need I mention we were all stuffed when finished and had to pass on desert?!
All in all, I recommend Hank's and would go back, but not before venturing out to other restaurants in Charleston as the dining scene looks to be amazing. Again, we only had 1 night in Charleston and only so much we can eat :-)
We went to Hank's following a matinee play at the Dock Street Theater on Sunday, February 18, 2018. The reservation was for 6:00 but we arrived early. We were seated promptly by the receptionists anyway. Our waiter was very knowledgeable with excellent recommendations. Everyone enjoyed the appetizers and mail courses. Great grouper with risotto. The two deserts (mud pie a la mode and pecan pie a la mode) were two of the bests. The couple we were with had previously been to Hank's and their past experience was an "average" rating. This time around they loved the food, the service and the overall evening. You hit a home run with our group of 4. Thanks for a wonderful night.
The restaurant came highly recommended, we have been to Charleston many times and not able to get a table at Hanks. We were able to on Sunday evening and it was worth it. The menu has a nice variety, the service was great, and we would not hesitate to return, to try some of the other great looking meals on the menu.
Hank’s was our top recommendation from a Charleston native; the meal was superb and our server Casey was a gem!
Amazing first dining experience in Charleston! Food was outstanding and service was perfect. Will definitely be back!
Excellent low country cuisine, great service by the wait staff and the bartenders
Any time we are in Charleston, we stop at Hank's. My wife swears their ceviche can't be beat. The food is always good and the wait staff is always top-notch. We'll be back!
The food was fabulous! The service was friendly and efficient, not rushed, though it was quite busy the evening that we were there.
Rushed. It was evident that the pressure was on to turn the table. The waiter was good but the pace was ridiculously fast for a restaurant of this alleged quality. Tables too close together. Overall worst restaurant experience during our 3 day trip to Charleston. Overhyped.
I was looking forward to dining at Hanks. Unfortunately, it fell a bit short of my expectations. First I will say the best part of the meal was the dessert. We had the pecan pie which was amazing! I would almost recommend just going here for that! We began with an oyster shooter which was not a shooter at all, it was more like a cocktail with an oyster thrown in the bottom of the glass - not very tasty. Several of us had the scallops which were a big portion and tasty. One of our party needed gluten free options and they were very accommodating and helpful with the selections. To conclude, Hanks was very good but I could not give it 5 stars.
The food was excellent!!
One of our favorite restaurants in Charleston. The food is always outstanding, especially the roasted grouper! We always enjoy our dinners here
GOOD ...SERVICE WAS OUTSTANDING. QUALITY WAS GOOD BUT NOT UP TO HANK'S REPUTATION
We had grilled oysters, she- crab soup and arugula salad for apps - all perfect! My guests loved the Tuna! I had never tried Hank’s salmon - it was amazing.
