This was our first time here we loved it. The place is small and intimate very nice. Food drink and service were excellent. Joe our server was great. I had the linguini and clams my wife had the pasta primavera. Both were awesome. Nice Italian wine selection and wonderful calzones for desert to top off the night. Great spot we highly recommend. Enjoy.

This was our first visit to Hank’s and it was ok. The food and service were good, but I was disappointed by the limited pasta options for a pasta bar. My wife had the pumpkin ravioli which was very good and I had the pan heat and mushroom which was also good. I have a pepper (black, white, chili, etc, not bell) allergy which limits my choices. Know that when they claim to prepare things fresh, that is a bit of a fallacy; many items are prepared ahead of time and seasoned and the kitchen has little ability to deviate from the recipe.accordingly, the side options were desired were limited; the Brussel sprouts and cauliflower were preseasoned, so we opted for the spinach. Every with as much as I stressed my allergy, the cook still prepared it in the standard peppery stock. Fortunately my wife tried it first and noticed the pepper, otherwise it would have been a bad day! Overall, not as good an experience as desired, but they brought a second side of spinach cooked right. Give them a try; it seems to be a popular place given the crown for a Wednesday.

Cocktails before dinner at the bar were seasonally considered, imaginative and presented well. Food at dinner was well-seasoned and cooked just right, with fresh ingredients. Grilled octopus is not easy to find or do right - would come back to Hank’s just for that.

Portion size was also just right and the by-the-glass wine list had plenty of options and was reasonably priced.

We’ll be back.

The lasagna was basically cheese, sauce and very little pasta. My son who's not picky didn't eat it. The meatballs were good, but the accompanying 'angel hair pasta' was poor. 70% of the food that was delivered went uneaten. The gin and tonic was poor. Small amounts of gin and the tonic had no fizz at all. The house tonic is another not-so-good drink entirely, and the only alternative is basically flavored flat water. I and my family will not be going back.

Excellent service! Our waiter took great care of all of us, especially my elderly parents. The food was excellent. My lasagna was extremely tasty with good meat and cheese ratio. Our friends enjoyed their meal as did everyone else in our party.

Hanks does an excellent job of catering to its guests. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel very welcome.

Hanks is perfect for date night or just a casual night out.

The food and drinks are always amazing! Grilled octopus is wood fired, garlicky and delicious! Best Maker's Old Fashioned I've had in Old Town. The butternut squash is delicious. I also had the chicken marsala, subbed sauteed spinach instead of pasta to make it healthier and they did it for me... was amazing!

Food very mediocre. Had to call staff over to get service several times. Not able to have private conversation as tables are so close together. And couldn’t hear each other as place was so loud. Very disappointing experience.

It was fine. Not sure about a lobster Risotto with marinara. High point was the octopus, it was excellent. Wine prices so high. We all know what a good bottle of wine costs these days, but nothing under $50.

The autumn burrata salad for $14 was truly outstanding. Ingredients are:

spinach, radicchio, walnut, pomegranate seeds, cherry tomato, pomegranate ginger vinaigrette.
Generous serving with lots of pomegranate seeds and the dressing is among the best I have ever had. Very nice service and a warm greeting as well.

This was our 2nd visit and I wouldn't go again. Our meal was very rushed and the food came up as if it was just reheated. Our drinks came after the food arrived (no fault of our server). I found it interesting that you confirmed my reservation twice (as a high end restaurant would do) yet the quality of food was average at best. Very disappointing

This is the Pasta relative of Hanks Seafood and just as tasty in it's pasta oriented versus seafood menu. The staff is very attentive, the place is cozy and located right on the edge of Old Town Alexandria. The food is best shared family style pasta where you can choose from 2, 3 or 4 items on a very creative and interesting pasta menu (there are other traditional Italian fare items as well, but we always choose the multiple pasta option). The food is well prepared and very tasty. Highly recommended.

While we appreciate the host warning us the kitchen was behind & our service would start a little late...I did not expect to wait 40min for starters, an additional 30 minutes for entree and not even a manager to stop by and keep us updated. I’m just happy my 2 year old made it through the dining experience unfazed otherwise we would’ve left.

We enjoyed the food and overall experience; however our waiter was overly attentive to the point of interrupting our conversation multiple times. It also felt very much like she was trying to upsell us on everything from drinks and apps to dessert. Some people may like that much attention but we found it distracting when we clearly on a date and trying to focus on each other. However the food was very good.
