Lovely family owned Italian restaurant. Food was delicious.
Good food, crowded and noisy atmosphere. Service could have been better.
Very nice experience and great food. Would recommend
It was a nice Thursday night dinner, the food was absolutely amazing and the service was impeccable.
Great food, decent service. Nice to be out of the mainstream of King Street, too.
Arrived for reservation at 8:00 and were met by a friendly and energetic ?manager. She showed us to our table and we ordered drinks. The server recommended a white Negroni (had never heard of it). It was blah and overpriced. My husbands calamari appetizer was Ok. As for the entrees - I had the spinach and ricotta raviolis - Ok. My husband had the seafood linguine with added shellfish. 1. The seafood that came with the linguine was straight from a frozen Costco bag. 2. The added seafood was suppose to be shelled clams and shelled mussels. Well they were out of clams so they substituted chopped up clams. From a can? You decide. Oh and they forgot to bring our wine.
As we were eating our server interrupted us to say “ last call for food; if you want dessert - you’ll have to order it now.” What? We finished our meal as all tables were broken down around us and we felt rushed. Do not take a reservation at 8 if you close at 9.
Great salmon, clams with linguine and Caesar salad. Mushroom salad lacked flavor.
Special because we were finally getting together with friends for dinner after being apart for so long due to the pandemic
We went for brunch and our food was delicious. it was my first time being here since it changed from Hanks pasta bar.
Massimo (sp?) Was so delightful. His guidance on the wine was excellent He was so knowledgeable and helpful on everything. The waiter was most enjoyable. (Our recipe was 1029 - the waiter was Chip or Joshua) I apologize but we did enjoy his comoany. The masks don't make it easy 🙄We had not been to Hank& Mitzi"s since it was Hank's Pasta,(& since the year of covid) however the quality of the food & the wine are still fabulous! It was our first evening out in VA after Covid. We live in Maryland but the pasta, wine, and staff were worth coming out. Thank you for being back!
The food at Hank we started with the mushroom salad, then clam linguine (amazing), and finished with the chocolate mousse. The service was lovely, our waiter was very funny and attentive - for the mushroom salad we said we were gonna share, and they brought us the dish already split into 2 plates! Very thoughtful. I would certainly go again.
Seating was OK. Not much ambiance. Our server was one of the least friendly people I have seen waiting tables in a long time. No “hello”, just “Can I take your order”. Asked him if an item on the menu was good and he responded “it’s all fine”. Never smiled. We were very rushed. We wanted to stay and catch up (we were seated at 6:50 ). When we went to order an additional drink and dessert he said “we need this table at 8:15 so I need you to pay”. There was NO ONE waiting. And when we walked back by after going to another establishment for 45 minutes our table was still empty. Very poor customer service. He also overcharged our CC by $16 each, so we had to get a manager to adjust it. I thought the food was pretty good. I would want to go back if we had felt like valued customers.
Love eating here, but the server was not the best. I had to keep asking for things, that if he had come over to the table a few times, he would of realized we needed. And for some reason the grilled octopus, that I always get, was not tender. But the pizza and raviolis was amazing!
Service and food were excellent!
Pleasant outdoor environment, good service, and delicious food.
We went here for outdoor dining - it was our first date night out since covid began. Delicious food, great service! The patio is right along the road but they’ve done a great job of adding lights and shade to make it as pleasant and spacious as possible! Will definitely be back!
Hank and Mitzi’s menu was phenomenal. We over ordered and then ended up stuffing most of it down.
pasta plates come absolutely unadorned--no bread (or breadsticks) or oil or extra cheese. Unappealing presentation of food.
Pizza was awful. The pepperoni did not taste like pepperoni. Bread ordered by one guest was tasteless and thrown away at home as was the remaining pizza. Service was very good and sitting outside was great. Not sure I will return.
Street seating less than pleasant. Service excellent.
The food is spectacular. Our service was mediocre. They stuck is in a bland back room with a curtain behind us. One of my guest room marked it looked a little bit like the DMV. We decided to take our desserts and after dinner drinks outside and that was much more charming.
Garden patio could be improved. Trunk hard, but could be much better
Great food and great service! Everyone was very nice and accomodating!
Food was really great. Really great. Service was great. We’ve been meaning to try H&M for awhile and finally on a Friday evening got around to it. Had the calamari, mushroom salad, Salmon and pasta with clams. Lovely evening. Will definitely be back
We were celebrating Mother’s Day and reserved an outdoor table. There was still a 20+ minute wait with our reservation however the team was apologetic for the wait and service was timed well after we were seated.
I appreciated the opportunity to get a reservation and knew that we would be sitting outside. It ended up being cold and windy and there were none of those propane heaters or anything, so I should have thought of that.
I was craving spaghetti and meatballs and the serving was more than generous, but everything was very salty.
The service was ok. Again- COVID. I'd go there for lunch and sit inside.
We celebrated my wife’s birthday and ate here for the first time. It was perfect. The grilled octopus and the meatball appetizers were awesome. My wife had the lasagna, my son the Fettuccine bolognese and I had the rabbit cacciatore. Excellent is what we all said.
Overall, it was a great meal. Warm and friendly atmosphere. I don’t believe the waiter ever told us his name, but the service was good. A little overpriced for what you got.
The food was excellent, but we found it noisy and hard to carry on a conversation. Had to speak with raised voices. There was nothing to absorb the sound as it was all hard surfaces.
Tasty Italian food, pleasant service. What's not to like?
Great outdoor seating. Shady with nice music. The food was fantastic, piping hot and delish. Booked a reservation for the next weekend before leaving.
Really enjoyed having lunch here. The linguini with clams was awesome. Worth your time to visit here.
Everything was amazing! Met a friend for dinner and we had cocktails, appetizers, entrees, and dessert. The food was delicious, service was quick and friendly, and ambiance was cozy. Will definitely be back!
We ate outside due to the pandemic but the street was leafy and quiet. Did not feel like one was sitting in the street. Service very good. Tables spread out and there was options for sunny and shade. We had the pasta with the creamy sauce. Very rich so neither of us felt like dessert afterwards.
Great food and cocktails
We had a wonderful time
Would definitely go back
We weren’t able to sit outside unexpectedly, because there was no propane. But I had called earlier in the day to confirm outdoor heaters and was told not to worry, that I would get one if needed. The waiter was either having a bad day or just generally doesn’t like people. Our pasta dishes were served lukewarm and someone who may have been a manager took them away to be reheated, which we appreciated. But the overall impression was blah; no ambiance and service seemed to be reluctant.
Everything was perfect!
Great food, family feeling and decently spaced out between other customers. Food felt authentic, our waitress Lisa was very nice and had suggestions for food and drink.
