It is good hank’s pasta bar is permanently closing as the food was terrible. I ordered the pork ravioli & sent it back to the kitchen because it was under cooked. The spaghetti and meatballs they replaced it with wasn’t much better. Basically the food tasted like they were clearing out their freezer. On the upside, the restaurant was visually appealing.
A few things were different from the menu (ingredients listed were not in the actual dish) and we were not notified in advanced. It was explained later that the restaurant will be closing soon for renovations and the menus had not been updated with the changes yet. Other than that it was a very pleasant experience. Great for groups and a neighborhood gem, lots of street parking and further away from all the more touristy areas in Old Town in a more quiet part of town.
WE SAT OUTSIDE ON A LOVELY NIGHT AND LISA TOOK GREAT CARE OF US! THE FOOD IS SOLID AND TASTY.
Very nice little neighborhood restaurant. Nice ambience. Food was very good. Good value.
This place was recommended by a colleague because one of my dinner guest is vegetarian. The choices were many and the food was excellent! Will be back when they finished with the renovation. Thanks!
Consistently delicious! Service was fantastic too.
Great food and friendly outstanding service 😀(Iceland). Drinks a bit pricey but that's DC.
Great ambiance, refreshing décor, lunch menu 'beyond the standard' pasta entrees. Friendly service.
A great neighborhood gem!
Always a treat. Pasta is perfect. Sauces are just right, make the dish.
Great pasta variety! Will return to order other dishes.
Food was disappointing. Service was great. Noise level was too loud.
There were dehumidifiers or similar machines inside. Did not add to ambience. My waiter did the bare minimum and didn’t pay much attention to me. Food, however, was excellent.
I really enjoyed every detail about this restaurant from the staff to the cuisine. I definitely will be back! It was a pleasant experience.
Overall, the food was very good. Some of the best calamari in the area. The Cacio e Pepe was a little creamier than I would like, but it was still very good.
We love going to Hank's Pasta bar, though to be honest, while the servers were very helpful, felt drowned by how many times they came over to fill the water glasses when we asked for the bottle to stay on the table so we could do it ourselves.
Very surprised that it received 4.7/5 stars. Just an average experience and food
Great food and ambiance.. staff was attentive and made sure those with allergies in our party were well accommodated. Thanks Hank’s Pasta Bar :)
Absolutely incredible. Food came in a timely matter, they let me customize my entree with ease. Though it’s a fairly simple dish, the cacio e Pepe might’ve been the best one I’ve ever had. The lavender lemon anna cotta was also incredible
Our server was not on her game - we often had to call her over to our table, and she was at times a bit curt. We've been to Hank's many times and the food did not disappoint. We brought friends who have not been and were surprised by the lack of warmth from our server.
Server mumbled and didn’t know how to say some of the specialty words. Birthday was notes on reservation but no acknowledgement was made from any member of the team. We sat on the patio and no attempt was made to deter pests in any way which was slightly bothersome. Food was delicious as always. Will be back but definitely left a damper on the birthday night.
Our waiter Joewee (I think I spelled it right) was awesome. He was perfectly attentive and gave a great overview of the menu. I hope we have this gentleman the next time we dine there.
Hanks Pasta Bar always delivers - lots of great options on the menu and personable service. It was fantastic!
Food was amazing! Staff was very kind and the atmosphere was super chill. I’ll definitely go back!
The restaurant was very busy because this was a special event in Alexandria. So it was noisy, but the service and food were excellent. Will continue to recommend.
My friend and I met for lunch. The restaurant was pretty empty. The food was ok, the service was ok, although I had to get up from the table to get someone’s attention in order to get a coffee refill and our check. It was ok, but I don’t think I’ll be back soon. There are lots of choices in Alexandria.
Nice ambiance, although at times the noise level was very high (there at 6:30). Excellent service, attentive and tuned into the social engagement of their table. Food was good, but not to the level where I would say I must come here again and recommend it to all my friends.
Hank's is always wonderful! Great service, outstanding new chef doing great things.
We had crostinis with mousse, salads, lasagna, and bucatini. All was excellent.
Will be back again very soon!
Pleasant experience. Server was simple amazing and the food exceptional. Cant wait to come back
All aspects of our first visit here were great, but the sound level was distracting and detracted from the experience.
I was really excited to try Hank's as a serious pasta lover. I was super underwhelmed with the experience and unfortunately won't be returning. The air conditioning was out so it was about 80 degrees in the restaurant - that wasn't soo bad just slightly uncomfortable. Our waitress was able to snag us one of the last calamari appetizers available which was delicious but the main event - the pasta - was just not what I expected. I had a special buccatini dish and it wasn't anything to write home about. It wasn't super flavorful. My husband and his dad got spaghetti and meatballs - the past was overcooked and again nothing exciting. We got drinks and a bottle of wine - all in all dinner cost us $180. I would have rather made pasta at home...and next time we will!
Great place. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was perfect for hanging with friends for a low key evening.
Overall the experience was good. The location was in a quiet part of old town with a lovely water view only blocks away. The decor was cool and the outdoor area looked nice as well.
We were seated next to a half wall and one of the servers kept leaning on it while we were eating. This was distracting as we were trying to eat. Our server also did not seem well versed in the menu and often had to ask others or relook at the menu for information. The meat and cheese plate was very good, so the bar was set high, however, we found the main dish to be under-seasoned. The drinks were well made and tasty. Nothing exciting about the meal, but good.
The service was great. We were celebrating an anniversary and they went out of their way to help us celebrate with dessert.
Great experience. Food was tasty & service attentive. We’ll be back 😊
Glad Chef Shannon is back in the area!!
It was my first time at the Pasta Bar, and my wife and I went for our anniversary. We sat outside, which was lovely, and our server was very attentive. The food was good (though I liked my wife's bucatini cacio e pepe was better than my veal and pork ravioli) and we had a very nice anniversary dinner. They have a very nice wine and beer list and I recommend them highly.
A neighborhood gem with plenty of seasonal cocktails and delicious surprises.
Food is always amazing here. There are always new specials but their classics are great too. I've enjoyed every it's I've tried - octopus and crostini appetisers are great! As is the malfade, gnocci, Bolognese, and ravoili. It's a bit pricey if you have some appetizers, drinks, dinner, and dessert, but I would say very worth it.
Fresh pasta and seafood in a casual setting. Excellent service.
