About

Hanjip is a modern Korean BBQ restaurant by Chef Chris Oh. We only use the best quality of meat and seafood to deliver a very unique experience.

There is a 15 minutes grace period following the time of your reservation, but if exceeded your table will be lost.

We require a credit card for parties of 6 people or more. There is a cancellation fee of $45 per person if the reservation is cancelled less than 48 hours in advance. The amount charged to the credit card on file will be mailed to the reservation holder in the form of a Hanjip gift certificate to use at a later date of their choosing.

Unfortunately, due to limited seating, we can only accommodate parties up to 6 people at one table. For parties of 7 or more, we cannot guarantee conjoining tables.

The food is so good. Drove all the way from San Diego to eat their cheese corn and kimchi fried rice. So yummy!

You don't leave this place smelling like smoke! They will change the griddle top often and don't hesitate to ask. Meat quality is inconsistent and side dishes change .

We had a horrible experience at Hanjip. We booked our reservation for 9:45 for our anniversary and when we showed up we were told that the restaurant was closing. They told us that "open table doesn't understand our hours" and when I asked why they didn't call us to let us know that our reservation was outside of the time they were seating they told me they do not check Open Table to see if they have reservations that are upcoming. I had to beg and convince them to serve us. From there the service was slow and practically non-responsive. They did nothing to make up for the mistake and confusion or to even make this celebratory meal special. The food was ok- not great and the experience was unacceptable.

Korean BBQ is a good idea for a long lunch with friends....because not too many people will have time for a 2 hour lunch. Also not a lot of people at that time so it was quiet. Food was good and the server changed the grill quite often and helped to get us started with the cooking. Wish the water bottle was larger...would have saved a lot of trips.

Service was very attentive (we did arrive on the early side of the dinner hour). Food was good - not quite as great as the Korean BBQ you get in Koreatown, but good for the west side and reasonably priced.

Despite a reservation, my party waited almost an hour, even though there were open tables and it was outside of lunch rush hours. Eventually, we left and ate elsewhere. Manager on staff provided contact information to follow-up. Won't be bothering.

The restaurant was over booked. We have to wait for a while even we had reservation. The service is bad. The worst is that higher value items such as beef tongue and calamari are out of stock without notice in advance. We will never come back to this dishonest business again.

Even with the reservation it took them 45 minutes to seat us. There were about 5 parties waiting in the front and 10 minutes went by where waiters just walked straight by all of us. When we finally got one of them to stop, then they started putting us on a list to get seated. It also takes so long for the meat to come out - not sure if it was because of dineLA?

Had trouble dining at Hanjip for lunch. First, they had trouble confirming my Open Table reservation even though I had email confirmations. Then we were seated but the flame wasn't lit and we had to ask to get it done twice. The room was rather warm, and I say this having been to a number of Korean BBQ places before. We ordered numerous items, but never got the tongue. When we asked about it later, we were told that they were out but never bothered to get back to us. Also they were already out of the kimchi fried rice. I just can't eat kimchi without rice, a serious problem. How do you run out of fried rice? We also had to ask for water twice. I would say the people were nice, friendly and hard working, but there was a serious organizational problem.

The panchan was just okay, my favorite being the onions. The short rib was their best dish. Other highlights were the garlic beef and marinated beef. Overall the quality of the beef was very good. As the place got packed, they actually turned people away. Even people with Dine LA reservations were told the wait was 1 hour.

The food here is actually pretty good, if you can hang with the organizational and service problems; and you otherwise can't beat the price. I just hope they get their act together.

We had their AYCE menu for DineLA. FYI, DineLA you get AYCE and one drink for $29. The more expensive AYCE price is $29.99. You're really only getting a free drink. TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT. I don't know about their a la carte menu, but their AYCE menu is not worth it.

Meat quality was fair, at best. They had 5 "banchan"/Korean side dishes - super ATYPICAL for a Korean restaurant. And the side dishes? Two lotus root (what non-Korean person is eating this?!!), pickled onions (which you never see at KBBQ) and worst kimchi ever (like they took the bottom of the kimchi barrel and plopped it on a small plate). Cabbage side salad for KBBQ. C'mon, guys. Have YOU GUYS ever eaten at a KBBQ place, Hanjip?

Their service is all over the place. We're used to having more than one wait staff person wait on a table at KBBQ places. But, if you're going to use that model then make sure someone follows up. Telling 3 different people you would like lettuce and have none of them come back with any lettuce is sloppy.

And that's the feeling from this place. Just sloppy. I'm Korean, ate KBBQ my whole life. This is a horrible representation of the KBBQ experience and in a city that has other/better culinary choices. I'm sad for people who will use this as their first experience into KBBQ. Don't do it! Save the money, pay for the Lyft/Uber into Ktown and go somewhere worth giving your money to.

We were a party of four and the rate at which the meat came out and the portion sizes was a little ridiculous. We were only having brisket and yet each plate that came out looked like a different cut of meat. Once the meat was cooked, we each got about two pieces. Then, we had to wait for the waiter to come around which took awhile. The kimchi never got refilled, we had to ask several times for more sauce and rice. I've been here once before and had a better experience, I'm wondering if this was due to DineLA (even though we used the regular menu). I liked the convenience of KBBQ in downtown in Culver City. Sadly, I don't think I'll be returning.

My wife and I ate here for the DineLA all-you-can-eat lunch. It took the staff 10min to acknowledge us and other people standing by the doorway. We all had reservation but were not seated until 20min after the reservation time. Upon being seated, no one took our orders until we had to hunt a staff member down to start our grill. One female server seemed to be new, not understanding the menu and made me repeat myself everytime I asked for more meat. The service was horrendous. The food was mediocre at best. The "marinated" meat didn't have flavor. Disappointing experience.

We came for lunch reservation during dine la. The host told us that they could not serve us because the kitchen did not anticipate the volume of customers and food were not coming out fast enough for people dining there. Host told us they can reschedule for dinner or another day. Wth we drove all the way there for lunch. Should have been more prepared especially if it's for dinela. Won't be coming back so disappointed. No wonder they Have 3 stars on yelp!

My friends and I had a wonderful time at Hanjip. I found this place through a YouTube channel [@davidsocomedy] and we were in town and knew I had to go.

The food there was great, especially the beef tongue. It cooked to quickly and yet still remained to juicy... it just melts in your mouth! Spicy pork shoulder was fantastic, but not as spicy as I thought it would have been ( I could have asked for more on the side, but didn't want to intrude since it was packed).

The service was just as great as the food. They were always on top of when they needed to change to grill, and would just sneak past the table adjusting the heat accordingly without you noticing ( I did, but my friends didn't). As you go about eating, they slowly start lowering the portions they bring out and by the end of the meal I felt satisfied but not to the point where I didn't feel as if I had eaten too much.

The atmosphere was as expected of a Korean BBQ restaurant. Loud and proud, everyone having a great time drinking and eating good food. Being the youngest of the group I was given the role as the DD, but that didn't stop me from having an amazing time there. They even brought out a birthday cake for one of their employees and got everyone to sing along. That just made my day.

Overall: A+

I had such a horrible experience here. Starting with the reservation, I changed my time and people, I get it was hard to accommodate, but I went there to celebrate my cousin big graduation and we had to sit separately. Even with a reservation I waited a good 20 min before seating. I felt as though this was the most unauthentic Korean bbq place I've ever been to. For example what kind of KBBQ place runs out of pork belly? That just can't happen. The service was super slow, they kept switching our other table food with ours. The waiter kept forgetting what I asked for. I would get what I needed 10-15 minutes later. The food quality and taste was must alright. Overall I would never come back. I also would not recommend this place to anyone.

I took my family based on reviews and we love Korean food and tabletop bbq. The side dishes were very poor and the salad was awful. The best thing we had was the beef bulgogi. It was delicious and we ordered two orders. We had the chicken bulgogi and it had no taste, the short ribs were lean and thick - they were pretty good. We also ordered the spicy chicken which was okay and finally the seafood pancake which was awful. It had a weird taste and smell. We didn't touch it. Although we had reservations and were one of the first for lunch, we waited extremely long for simple things like rice. Bottom line - don't bother. There are so many better places in Gardena and Gen in Torrance is so much better if you want an all you can eat.
