We had an 8 top turn in to a table for 10 and they were very accommodating. Food was great and the atmosphere was super relevant.
Unfortunately this was a bad dining experience. The restaurant wasn't busy at all at 7pm on a Saturday night, that should have been my clue...The service was horribly slow. We had to wait so long just to get a drink, it was like our server forgot about us. The food came out in a reasonable time with managers help do the running.
The food was not good at best and real bad at the worst. The wings were horrible! They were over salty and tasted like they had been in the refrig for 2 weeks then warmed up. Almost a foul taste, only ate 3. The over-salted issue was in all dishes. We ordered 3 apps and 2 mains. The mains were just not good. Oh ya, I forgot, they were out of 2 things we ordered but the server failed to mention that up front. If it wasn't almost 8pm by that point we would have left,
All in all, just a poor experience. Sorry, I cannot recommend and cannot return. I hate sharing negative reviews and I have over 22,000 Open Table points, but it was so bad I had to write.
My wife and I were visiting the area and
Friendly and very attentive service and pleasantly surprised at the food quality. Fun atmosphere. My only complaint was that the onion rings seemed pre-made and the batter was not that great. All other food, burgers, steak, fries , apps and deserts were great. Would definitely go back.
Well for a place known for burgers, two out of three burgers we ordered were raw in the middle when what was ordered was well-done and medium-well. They did comp us the two burgers, but my husband had to eat alone after we were all finished with our food because we had to wait for a new burger to be made.
Great place to meet up with friends or family! Excellent food, wine, and steaks!
Seated quickly and drinks and app orders pretty quick, but then waited nearly an hour to order dinner. Liked the ambiance and food was good (though toasting buns would keep burgers warmer—the burgers weren’t that warm). Everything else about food quality except burger temps were good.
Good burgers. Steaks, average. Sides, average. Service is good. Busy mall traffic makes it appear better than it is.
The last time I was at this restaurant, I raved about it - great food, great service, great ambiance.
I was eager to bring a guest, to share the great food I had experienced less than one month ago. What a disappointment! This time was my experience was quite the opposite. The chicken breast was so dried out, it was virtually impossible to cut, bite into, or chew. The plate it was served on was so small, I couldn't even use the knife - and had to ask for a larger plate. I didn't send it back, because I did not want to delay my guest from eating her lunch, nor make her uncomfortable with the situation.
To make matters worse, the music was so loud, the waitress could hardly hear our order - and although she said it would be lowered, it blasted throughout our lunch.
I'm not sure if I will give "Hand Cut" another try... It could have been a different chef, or just a bad day. But overall, I would have a problem recommending "Hand Cut" to other diners.
Nice place with good service. Food is mediocre and price is high. This place has potential but they need to figure out what they want to be
The servers seemed very inexperienced and overwhelmed but they weren’t that packed. We chose a table outside and everyone and anyone who sat down had to scrape the heavy plastic chairs along the concrete floor. Now this wasn’t a simple annoyance, imagine a giant construction grater scraping the sides of a giant chalkboard of epic proportions! It really became a running joke amongst all the guests as we tried to make light of it and bonded like victims of a bad joke. They could put felt pads on the bottom and could help resolve this problem. We hit Tuesday half off night (not intentionally) with 1/2 price meats and bottles of wine. It’s a great deal but don’t expect full size and best cuts of meats on these nights. It was mediocre 2 got filets and two of us got the ribeyes. My meat was a bit tough and chewy but had good flavor. This place on Tuesday is a great value but maybe not great for a business dinner.
Great server, super fast food which was appreciated as we had a baby with us! Steaks were a touch salty but overall good and we would go back.
It was our first time at Hand Cut. The wait staff was more than accommodating and took extra time with one of our party who is VERY particular. She even commented how good of a server she was. The food was great. The only negative was the noise level. It was EXTREMELY loud. We asked if the volume could be turned down and they did a little which we greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, most of our party of 8 were more "mature" and still had difficult hearing. Overall though I'd recommend it.
Tried Hand Cut on a Friday night, so the atmosphere was somewhat boisterous, including thumping club music. The burgers, sides, and drinks were all excellent and prices, given the area, we're reasonable. Service was perfunctory at best. Our server was not friendly or helpful and the bussers kept trying to take things from our table that still had food/drink remaining.
Great food, but the music was extremely loud. I enjoy music but not that loud and in a restaurant. There were 7 people sitting at our booth and we all had to yell in order to hear one another. We had to yell our order to the server, some of us had to repeat ourselves because she could not hear us either. I don't know how the employees can work under these types of conditions. Beautiful restaurant but not a place you would want to take a date or meet friends that you want to have a conversation with. There really isn't a need for DJ in a restaurant. It's shame that I won't be going back due to the loud music.
We have eaten at Hand Cut a number of tines and typically enjoy everything there, so we were comfortable taking out-of -town guests there for dinner on Thursday. Everyone ordered ribeye steaks and each of us were disappointed. The steaks were flavorless and did not seem to be of a high-quality, at least not the quality we expected from Hand Cut and have had in the past. On a positive note, we ordered the Butter Cake for dessert which was outstanding. However the bad experience with the main entrée, the steaks, left a very bad impression and causes us to question whether we will ever take guests there again.
The portions are very small for the price. I had the steak salad and I had 3 small pieces of steak on my salad. We were there on Tuesday 50 percent off on cuts and bottles of wine. It would have been a rip off if it was full price.
Nate was so awesome. Totally recommend his bar tending skills and oh the sense of humor!!!
The food was good and the menu was fun and interesting. Good craft beers too. Someone that appeared to be the manager (possibly even the owner) checked on us a couple times. Unfortunately, the whole experience was tainted by the inattention of the hostess upon arrival and fair (not necessarily bad but certainly not great) service. Up arrival we stood at the hostess stand for at least five minutes. Several people including a couple servers, and a bartender clearly saw us and made eye contact but didn't make any "we'll be right with you" gestures or attempt to help. After about five minutes - which seemed like longer - I walked towards the bar to ask the bartender if we were to seat ourselves. Before I could get her attention I saw the hostess walk past me and to the hostess stand. I turned around and followed her. We were seated with no greeting, no welcome and no apology for the wait. Admittedly, that set the tone for the overall experience. Our server and service was ok. It was slow a few times with getting drinks refilled or just checking back with us. On one occasion the "manager" came and asked if we'd like another drink. We were seated not far from the hostess stand and watched the hostess leaning up against the wall looking at her cell phone for most of the time we were dining. It was a fairly slow night so I get it. Unfortunately, what could have been an excellent experience for us got off on a very bad note.
Food was excellent, wait staff was iffy. Served appetizers and within a minute or 2 tried to serve entrees, we asked to wait so we could enjoy the appetizers, waitress took food away only to have it brought back within 5 minutes by another person who said it was getting cold sitting in the kitchen. Wasn't it going to get cold sitting on the table? Drinks were not refilled regularly and took a while to get filled. I will go again as the food was worth it, and will keep in mind the service.
Venue and location were good. waitstaff was friendly. Ordering drinks took forever. line for the bathroom was way too long (only 2 single bathrooms for a fairly large place).
Also for being a place that bills itself as a hand crafted burger and steak place, they didnt ask how we wanted our burgers done
This place is always great. One of the best burgers in AZ. And the small plates are incredible. As is the service. Love it.
Had a great waitress, food was delicious and prompt. Definitely go back!!
Food and service were excellent. Ashley was helpful, cheerful, and provided excellent service and suggestions from the menu. The menu is very interesting - so creative it was difficult to decide what to order. And... the menu is flexible. One can mix and match the options to create your own special meal. The seating could offer more booths that are suitable for two-to-four people - with less high-top tables. But this does not detract from the wonderful experience we had for lunch. I will definitely return and introduce more friends/associates to this "new" member of the Scottsdale food scene.
I had a burger which was ok but 2 in our party had the dip sandwich and both said it was not very good. Dry. Could have just been an off night. Other than that no complaints.
Great service and amazing burgers.
Food was okay. The burgers and fries were good but there are better burger spots in the area. Went with a group for a family birthday. Prices were pretty much what you would expect for burgers and sides at a restaurant in Scottsdale. Service was fair- at times it was very hard to find our waitress but it seemed like every minute or so someone was offering to clear the plates from the table- even before we finished eating what was on them. Biggest complaint was the music- WAY TOO LOUD! We had to scream at each other to be heard and as the night went on the music seemed to get louder. There was a DJ- which is fine if you're at a club but not a restaurant where you want to actually have a conversation with the people you came with.
Great food. High energy crowd. You can't beat the burgers
Food and service was fine. However, there was a DJ that played music so loud we couldn’t even talk. We asked 3 times to turn the volume down to no avail. DJ was out of place in this venue. I hadn’t planned on going out to “The Club”!
I ordered salmon, but they were out of it. It was the only seafood selection on the menu. Guess I shouldn't be too upset as this is a chop house. So I ordered lamb, rare, and rare it was, very tasty, but only two tiny medallions. The larger piece still on the bone was all fat. It was really appetizer size and served a la carte for $29. The side of grilled asparagus showed no signs of grilling and was mediocre at best. Our friend ordered the pork chop, which she said was over cooked and very tough, and the creamed corn which was way more cream than corn and very buttery. She did not care for it. My husband had the short rib dip sandwich and onion rings, both of which were excellent. Overall, most of the food was very disappointing. especially for the price and the a la carte format.
The waitress told us they were known for their special quality handcut meat; however, if we wanted to order it we would have to pay more for it!! Seems to me it should be what is offered on the menu.
Food was very ordinary and service was hit or miss. We had the same waitress at the beginning and end of our meal but in-between we had 3 different servers. We thought this made for poor service, not better service. The 3 in the middle only knew what we wanted if we asked for it.
Good food but overpriced for the food portions. I would look somewhere else where they serve sides with a $40 steak.
Get together for a birthday 🎂 had a lot of fun and great scene
This place is always at the top of our list. The food is consistently delicious with plenty of flavor and fresh ingredients. The cocktails are equally de-lish. Service is great. We love taking friends and family here because we know it’ll be awesome.
Very expensive for a burger restaurant. The chef adds lots of salt to everything. Quality of food was ok. A la carte sides. Really! Price does not warrant atmosphere or food.
Steaks were good but one was late and a couple overcooked, but the sides and dessert were amazing. As well as the ambiance and service!
Stopped in for late lunch and had good food and service. Liked it here a lot. They have very good burgers. Will be back!
The food was good but not consistent. Wings were oversalted; ribeyes were over cooked and stringy. The flat iron was great, as were the sides and salmon. The apple pie dessert was delicious. Restaurant is definitely loud when you have a large group, but Service was great.
Cocktails are great and the salt and vinegar fries are a must!
Overall great experience, delicious food and great ambiance! Drinks were also on point!
