Located in the heart of the historical town of Berkhamsted, Hanako is a floral utopia that takes inspiration from Japanese floristry to create a truly unique dining experience on the High Street.

Soak up the blooming atmosphere as you enjoy a luxurious selection of food surrounded by blossoming flowers and our skilled florists creating floral magic. Or, why not enjoy the decadence of our Champagne Bar where we’ve partnered with Moët & Chandon to offer a full menu of champagnes and spirits.

Sit back and relax as you enjoy a selection of finger sweet and savoury delights paired with your tipple of choice.

Table bookings are available for drinks, and we will have a selection of seasonal light bites available to enjoy on the day.

Please note: Hanako is a florist, so we keep our dining area cool to help our flowers stay fresh. We encourage dinners to bring a cardigan or light jumper.

As we are a bar, WE OPERATE AN OVER 12's AGE POLICY. We also operate a no dogs allowed policy.

    We booked for Mother’s Day afternoon tea to arrive and be told we hadn’t booked for the food. Just a table. We were given a menu detailing the afternoon tea but no other food choices. Very disappointing and won’t return. The set up was very pretty but the smell was the same as sitting in a florist shop, which is what it is.

    A disappointing experience! It was empty and quiet, you can tell they have just opened as there employees were total not experienced enough! They were really nervous and stuttering. They suddenly gave us hot water bottles without evening asking if we wanted them, and they were filled to the brim with water which made the bottle into a ball. They we ordered two coffees and some cake, well I waited 20 mins till I heard them frothing the milk! There was no other customers! Then they burnt the milk, I could hear it being burnt it was so loud! Will definitely not be coming back! It’s a flower shop, not a bar or cafe or anything else! It should just be a flower shop!

    My friend and I had a lovely Afternoon for my 60th birthday . Sandwiches, cakes , tea and champagne and the wonderful smell of the flowers. Will definitely be returning

    Absolute lovely experience which I really enjoyed. The staff were very warm and friendly and very accommodating. It was lovely watching the florists making Christmas wreathes and were more than happy to answer questions.

    The service in Hanako is absolutely terrible. It is not worth going even for the Instagram-friendly decor. The wait staff completely ignore people. Took a long time to even be acknowledged, having walked in with a reservation and it wasn’t busy. Took three staff members brushing past us before the person with the flowers asked if we were being served. At one point, a glass smashed off a nearby table and despite us calling attention to it, it wasn’t cleaned up. Our drinks (champagne) were fine. Pricey but what we expected. If we’d had better service would have ordered more, but as it was we were basically ignored so ended up going to another bar for the next round. All in all don’t bother visiting, it’s terrible.

    Fantastic addition to Berkhamsted. Had a lovely couple of hours with a friend on a Saturday afternoon. Let them know in advance that I was vegan and they order food in specially! All the staff were friendly and helpful. I'll definitely be back.

    A really unique enjoyable experience! We sat at the bar having drinks whilst watching the florist at work. Polly and Izzy were super friendly and knowledgeable and we had a lovely chat all about the concept behind Hanako. We purchased some gorgeous flowers too! Will definitely be returning!     Uninspiring menu but sandwiches were tasty and a little different. More savoury options to enjoy with a glass of champagne would be good. Service was poor, took 15 minutes to give our drinks order despite asking twice. Also had to ask for the complimentary nibbles bowl that the menu says comes with champagne orders.

    INTERESTING CONCEPT NOT SURE HOW IT WILL BE IN THE WINTER AS THE ROOM HAS TO BE KEPT COOL FOR THE FLOWERS. NICELY PRESENTED FOOD BEAUTIFUL CHAMPAGNE SAUCERS BUT DID NOT CARE FOR THE GLASS TEA MUGS PREFER CHINA FOR TEA.
