Have been to Hampton Winds many times over the years. The quality during this visit of the food was ordinary. The service was poor. Hampton Winds used to be a culinary school that was wonerful with the food. I believe they may be more interested in Restaraunt Management than the culinary part. The desert selection was not what it used to be. 3 of our party asked for one dish and then were told after waiting that it was no longer available. 1 of the main dished came out cold. They should have comped us for this dish. First time i remember more food left on plates than was eaten.
A great community asset..A great meal which aids and benefits the students..We are certain to return while spreading the word to family and friends .
food was both interesting and very tasty with just one observation. Each of the three courses (gnocci, mango salad, and bouillabaisse) was overly salted. I've eaten there before without the excess salt, and my dining companion did not notice extra salt on her different choices. I'll certainly continue to go there.
Until this experience, I have always been so impressed with the Hampton Winds. Their food is generally top tier and their service exceptional. While the service was slightly under expectations, the student server was obviously new and we had no issue with her learning on us. Our review of the food is mixed, with my date enjoying his three courses (except he felt the marinara for the calamari should have been spicier), mine were less than what I had hoped for. This was due mainly to poor descriptions on the menu and the fact that the menu was different than what was advertised on the website. The advertised menu had several selections that enticed me, the actual menu had few. I selected the cold spring rolls as my first course. Unfortunately, "cold" was not enough to inform me that it was also "raw". I enjoyed the taste, but I had been hoping for crispy outside and savory inside. Instead it was sort of a salad, which the wording of the menu failed to convey. The French Onion Soup, my second selected course was sweeter than Kool Aid, and when I said something, to their credit, they quickly offered me a replacement with another menu item. Unfortunately, there was little else that appealed, so I ended up with the beef pasty, which was good, but very bready, and I really wanted to watch my carb intake, but little on the menu fit in with a low carb diet. As for entrees, we both selected the Chciken Kiev, which neither of us would normally choose due to the breading, but again the other offerings were not anything that appealed. While my date enjoyed the entree, we both needed to add a lot of salt, I found it completely boring, something that you might expect as an airline meal, not from what should be the training ground of exceptional chefs. We will try again, and hopefully, this was simply because it was so early in the school year. I really hope they can keep their website updated in the future, so that expectations can meet with reality.
My family and I have been going to Hampton Winds for years. It’s always been our go to for a nice formal evening out, but over the last year or two it’s lost something. On this recent visit, we wanted to leave after 15 mins. The menu was not as varied and they didn’t have most of the items on the menu. There was no music playing which left the atmosphere silent at times. We had to request bread, when our appetizers arrived, we had to request drinks when the waitress forgot to bring them after 20 mins. The bread was hard and had no taste. The appetizers were bland and small portioned. As where the soups and salads. The entrees were good but by this time, we just wanted to leave. We asked for our desserts to go!
I realize Hampton Winds is a teaching restaurant and in their defense it was the last day of serving before a 3 week break, but it was still a bad experience for myself and the family. We’ve learned to not go to Hampton on the first and the last day of service.
I think, to improve...they need to bring back having low playing music, add table side cooking again, keep the kids in the back...or at least hire professionals to work with the kids in the front so things are not forgotten and service is flowing well, bring back a variety of menu options....guacamole and Brussel sprouts will not cut it for fine dinning! Make sure you have enough food for even the last day of service. The dessert cart being bought to the table with samples of the nights desserts was a treat and a great way to end the evening, bring that back!
I want to continue to support the school and the kids but I think I’ll let some time go by before I go back! A lot of changes need to be made!
I have been going to Hampton Winds since the early 2000's . I realize this is a student learning experience, however, I never had as poor service (Very Slow and Food was cold) and constant apologizing for the wait for every course. I am very glad we chose to dine alone rather than take guests as we were planning to do. The last time we visited was 2015 and the entire way the restaurant was run (From making the reservation to the service) was totally different. I did not enjoy the evening and will not be returning nor will I recommend it to any friends.
This was the first time I dined at Hampton Winds and I found the staff very friendly, the food was excellent and the entire experience was one I will remember. I look forward to coming back again
This was a fantastic experience. The service, the food, the abiance...Elton John music played softly in the background. I commend this program for opening to the community so that students can learn first hand what it is to run a restaurant. The menu was creative, the presentation superb, the service friendly and efficient.

I've dined @ Hampton Winds many times and I've never had a bad meal. This most recent visit was my mother's 1st experience. She was extremely impressed!! She's dined a many upscale restaurants, while living in Atlanta, and she felt this had been her best and most tasteful dining experience by far. You will definitely see us again soon!!
The Hampton WInds is a nice little restaurant with a decor that will make you feel welcomed. The service is friendly and quick. The flank steak was tasteless and I felt as if the other food on the plate was there to try and hide this fact. While not bad, it was lacking. The vanilla bean crème, however, is fantastic. The price is hard to beat and does help make up for the few shortcomings.
We have always enjoyed our visits to Hampton Winds and this time was no exception. Service is always of the kind that makes you feel special. The food was visually pretty and tasted wonderful. We were there for about two hours and it was two hours well spent with good friends. It is my opinion that visitors and then reviewers need to remember that Hampton Winds is an exceptional training facility for culinary students. These students learn not only how to prepare wonderful food, but how to serve the food, open wine and pour, front end, and everything else that goes into a dining experience. The Lehigh Valley is so fortyto have Hampton Winds available for a fine dining experience that is not expensive. Thank you to the instructors who are helping these students learn.

I've waited a long time to go to Hampton Winds. The 5-course meal took 3 hours. It was very relaxing. The food taste and textures were amazing! The service was wonderful. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant and help promote our young culinary hopefuls. They did a remarkable job!
Hampton Winds lunches are always delicious and I am consistently impressed with the culinary program at NCC. There are a lot of choices on the menu and the food is well presented.
There were a few opportunities in regards to ordering and serving the food, seemed like the students may have been learning the ropes. No big deal!
Overall a wonderful dining experience.
We always enjoy our lunches at Hampton Winds. The food is very good, prices reasonable and we can linger , they don't push you out the door.
Its definitely a place to try for those of you that never been there you get a three course meal for $40 used to be $35 seems like the price increases every year, you can BYOB which saves you money they used to bring out a dessert cart but they longer do that the is prepared by the students they are supervised by a Chef the food is very good like a high end restaurant no complaints just the service takes a little longer
Hampton Winds is a hidden gem in the Lehigh Valley. Outstanding food, beautiful presentation and exceptional service.
We were celebrating 2 birthdays and wanted a special meal. We were not disappointed. Rachael, our main wait staff, was so helpful and pleasant. We had the brussel sprouts, wonderful,grilled vegetable salad, cold but very interesting, spicy crab soup, yummy, and shrimp. By this time we were very full but still ordered the peanut butter brownie pie. Couldn't have been better. Next time I'd probably do alacarte since servings were large.
We have eaten at Hampton Winds many times over the last several years and always had exceptional experiences. This time they had just changed the menu which included less choices, and we felt the price of the meals were high for what we got. With the menu change you are now able to get ala carte selections, but once again it is very high price when eating at a student restaurant.
There was a table of ten 30-40 year old women whom I think had a relationship with the college.

My wife and I use to dine frequently at Hampton Winds. It was a wonderful culinary program. We enjoyed the friendliness of the students and staff. The selection of food and presentation was wonderful. The desert cart was fabulous! Unfortunately, too many changes have been made in the past several years. The restaurant was always full. The Friday night that we dined there, there were four of us, the restaurant was not even half full. We were surprised. However after dining there, we now understand. The staff did the bare minimum to provide us service; they were not very friendly. There was only one soup item and two salad items. In the past, there were three soup choices and three salad choices. All four of our entrees were only warm. The plates were hot, but the food was not. Gone is the fabulous desert cart and the many desert choices that went with it. Also, there are too many items on the menu that include an up-charge. We also miss the table side student entree selections. This was our first visit in one and one-half years. We will not be returning any time soon.
My husband and I had dinner with two other couples on a weeknight. Reservations were for 6:15, and there were about 3 tables taken when we arrived. Somebody offered to open our wine bottles right away. We were not in a big hurry, but we waited at least half hour for bread to come out, and another 15 minutes for the waitress to takeout order. We were there an hour and a half before the appetizers came out, (they were delicious.) I realize that students prepare the food to order, but I feel that they could do a better job getting soup and salad out as they should be pre made. I would definitely recommend trying this place as the food was very good.but you should be prepared for a long night. It was 9:35 before we were done eating.
WE had an outstanding luncheon with our close friends. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Best kept secret in the Lehigh Valley.
My most recent visit to Hampton Winds did not live up to the expectations I had from dining there in the past. The waitress was very friendly, and my party of three was promptly seated. The dining room was very chilly all evening even though we were adjacent to the fireplace. From start to finish our meal took 2.5 hours, though there were only two other parties in the restaurant that evening. We were informed there was no beef special (or any beef entrée) available. Bread selection did not seem fresh and was served cool. The appetizers were excellent. Soup was only lukewarm, though the taste was good. Salads had frozen/partially thawed cubed vegetables and one was missing nuts listed on the menu. Dinner was just "ok"... nothing to rave about here. Overcooked pork schnitzel, under-buttered spaetzle and unseasoned cabbage. Meh. Hands down our favorite part of past visits, the rolling out of dessert cart, is no longer offered here. Instead you receive a menu with pretty common choices. While our desserts were edible, all three in our party felt they were overwhelmingly sweet and lacking balance but mostly nothing special. In my years of visiting here, it seems the price has increased while quality and selection has decreased. The waitress was a gem and incredibly patient (we had a spill early in the meal which she handled with grace) but all three in my party agree that the food did not live up to previous expectations.
Our dinner was fantastic. It had been sever years since my last visit, and it was even better than I remembered. The service was great, and the food was all delicious. Everything was the perfect temperature and looked so appetizing. We took home half of our entrees and our dessert, because it was so much food. Love the BYOB option as well. I recommend this restaurant to many people. A very nice night out.
The food was excellent, the servers were eager to please, and the quiet ambience was perfect and conducive for conversation.
This was my second time at HW. It was fantastic. I will say the lobster bisque although wonderful flavor was very salty. Other than that we were very very happy.
We have been dining at Hampton Winds for years, and unfortunately this last visit was not one of the better visits. The service was great...but the food was just okay and we truly missed having the students share the varied desserts that they prepared by showcasing them on the dessert cart!

We celebrated a birthday and they made it special for my sister. The only thing was I ask for a table near the fireplace when I booked over a week ago and they mixed the table request. Over all we were still satisfied

We've wanted to try Hampton Winds for awhile after always hearing about how good it was and we were not disappointed. The menu is developed by the chef with certain student creations. All food is prepared by the students. To me, it's like fine dining at casual dining prices. A five-course meal costs $40. You will not go away hungry.
My friend and I love to celebrate our husbands mutual birthday here. Been many times and always have wonderful food and a fantastic time.
So you need to check on this. We made reservations which was as surprise as we know you usually need to call weeks in advance.. so to see it in OT was a surprise. The bigger surprise was that we arrived with friends, wine and expectations of another great meal. Surprise.... they aren’t open.
