Halls Chophouse - Greenville Ratings and Reviews
This is the best restaurant that I have ever been to when you combine quality of service and food together, The service is absi=olutely world class and the food is exceptional. If you want to impress someone , or just splurge on a wonderful night out - this is the place.
We were blown away by the amazing service and attention we received while dining at Halls Chophouse. They were able to accommodate many food allergies in our party. We ate our meals with confidence. The portions were generous and the taste was amazing! Best strip steak I have ever had!
The service was outstanding and made our night one for the books! When the waiter discovered it was my friend's birthday, he went out of his way to make sure our dinner was wonderful in every way! The manager even came over and treated us to a special cocktail, which was unexpected but fabulous. I will definitely be coming back here, especially for a special occasion!
Halls might be the biggest disappointment I have experienced at a restaurant. I dine out at least twice a week, but usually only write reviews for exceptionally great or exceptionally poor experiences. Many of my friends and colleagues have expressed that Halls (the Charleston version) is exceptional and always has excellent steaks, therefore I was looking forward to the experience. The grandson of a butcher (yes mom worked in the butcher shop as well), I was regularly schooled on quality meats, aging, and experienced great steaks at home.
First Service was great. The only complaint I have about the service is lack of knowledge about steaks/aging. Our waitress either did not know the meaning of a wet aged steak, or Halls "Wet Aged" steak is not aged at all, as her explanation was, "Wet Aged means the same as you buy at the grocery store counter."
I ordered the 16 oz dry aged Ribeye Medium Rare +. If my steak was more than 10 oz I'd be shocked. My steak was cold in the center, and was coated in a seasoning that was not stated on the menu. Apparently my wife's Bison steak was good, but not good enough that she ever wants to return to Halls. My guest (VERY IMPORTANT CLIENTS) neither complained or applauded the food.
Of the 5 sides we ordered, the lobster mac-n-cheese is the only one I would order again - which would only happen if someone else paid the bill. No I don't give them credit for properly cooking the whole sweet potato.
For dessert two couples shared 2 Crème Brule, which were cold, had good flavor, but not fully set up to the right consistency.
We ordered 3 bottles of wine that were recommended by the sommelier - they were acceptable but not spectacular.
Total bill for 5 people with 18% tip = $989. I would not have been happy at Outback Steakhouse, but I would have been just as happy as I was at Halls.
I’ve been to Hall’s on four occasions. It is consistently very good. The sommelier always has great recommendations. The best thing about Hall’s is it’s commitment to service. It was restaurant week so the place was crazier than usual but they worked hard to get everyone in. I chose the salmon which was very good and two others I was with chose the filet. It was excellent. The bar is always packed and at times can get a little rowdy but I always enjoy the live music. I would recommend it to anyone for a great steak and fun atmosphere.
Superb food and service, but not somewhere I can frequent as a retiree. Assume you do a lot of corporate card business. Your servers are first-rate in courtesy, knowledge and kindness. My steak was perfect, and my guidance from serve staff was spot-on. Most restaurants totally disappoint me when I ask for medium to medium well. Husband loved his salmon.
As during past experiences, Hall’s did a great job. JB and Tyler and others were attentive and treated my children well for their first visit. The steaks were exquisite and prepared as requested. The pork chop my wife ordered was the best too. A great experience as we have come to expect at Hall’s.
Excellent service! Staff was very knowledgeable, highly attentive and great service. We wanted to stay longer but it was packed on New year's eve dinner. The portions and quality of the food was outstanding. I had the Sea Bass with Mushroom risotto. Sea bass melted in your mouth it was cooked so well and succulent. My husband had the Prime Rib which was an excellent cut and cooked as he likes it. The sides were delicious. The desert was Chocolate layer cake that was so moist and not overly sweet. We shared a bottle of Artemis Stagleap a great Cab and some bubbly! Overall great experience and we will go back!
The shrimp and grits was delicious . All food was beautifully presented. Our server could not have been better. I think it was Pierce. He was friendly, professional, very knowledgeable about the food. We have never had a better wait staff anywhere. Sunday brunch was mellow, no stress, everyone made us feel welcome. It was everything we hoped it would be. Loved the musical trio and their songs.
We had reservations, but opted to eat at the bar which ended up being great. We thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment (a little loud), but service and food was excellent. This is quickly becoming one of our favorite in Greenville. We will be back.
We enjoyed another Anniversary meal at Halls. We used to drive to Charleston to eat there so we are happy they are now in Greenville, too. We were seated promptly at our reservation time. As you walk thru the restaurant, you are warmly greeted by staff members. We asked to be seated downstairs as the music in the bar area can be a bit loud for us. A member of management brought glasses of complimentary champagne to our table. The steaks at Halls are the best we've ever had. Be sure to try their delicious chopped salad. Overall it was a wonderful evening.
