   I always try to pop into hall and woodhouse when in bath as the food has always been nice and the atmosphere is lovely, particularly the roof top bar. Sadly my experience on Mother's Day was not so. Firstly on arrival we were offered water, and I was surprised to see a £4 plus charge for this on our bill at the end of our rather speedy Roast dinner. Most restaurants these day give a complementary bottle or jug of water. Secondly, when paying for our bill at the end, costumer service was lacking as the waitress failed to ask if we had a nice meal or even a thank you or goodbye, which I found very rude. And finally one of the reasons I had chose to make the hour trip to hall and woodhouse was because I had received an email saying mothers would get a little gift, which I though was a lovely touch. Disappointingly I had to go and ask where this was as we were leaving the restaurant, as nobody had brought one to the table.

   A shame that my second visit to this restaurant was such a disappointment. I love the decor and the atmosphere here but my friends meal was sent back for being undercooked, the replacement might have been cooked but was bland, mine was under seasoned. Further disappointment when we were charged for the meal sent back and the replacement, and was only offered compensation when we asked for it. A private email to the management has been ignored.

   We went for Sunday lunch with family. The Sunday roasts were all generous with great quality ingredients. It has a very spacious atmosphere giving you room to relax and talk. The service was the best part. Lovely people only too happy to help. A lovely experience.

   Elliot at hall and woodhouse Bath was really helpful and friendly when I had to add 3 extra people to my booking. Great food and drink in a nice setting.

   We were very impressed by the vibe and buzz when we walked in. Arrived early and we still were seated right away. Great service and friendly staff. All going so well!! Two weeks before I emailed saying one of the party was allergic to butter, spread of any kind. Told the waitress as soon as we sat down....all good going well. 3 of us ordered roast dinners all the meals came together and looked amazing. Just about to tuck in when the waitress says "oh the gravy is made with butter, is that ok? WHAT!! Of course it's not. Now three of us eating our dinners while the forth is scanning the menu ......now upset and just asked for roast pork sandwich which she got with chips .....and we sat watching her as we had finished. No effort to make a butterless gravy......bisto granualls would have done. So alll started so well but special occasion spoilt. Sunday dinners were great but not a happy bunch

   This was a shambles we chose this resuraunt because is was in the good Dog guide as the top pub to go if you have a dog This is not the case. What they fail to tell you is that you cannot book a table if you have a dog. They still took the booking for 6 people. We were all turned away by a very dismissive waiter. Never again.

   Decor was by far best thing about the place. Roast dinner was cold, vegetables hard and solid , uncrisp potatoes + took ages to arrive. Service was fine, nothing special.

    We arrived 20 mins early but no problem. Sunday roast beef and roast pork great (best crackling ever!). Very good at £12.95 each. Puds great but a little expensive for the Crême Brulee at £6.25 for a small cup. Badger First Call beer very tasty. We will be returning.
