Food was awful and provided small quantities, I was hungry even after I left. Waiter was missing most of the time when there a total of only 9 tables being used. And even with the slow service and the dead atmosphere due to the holiday this restaurant has the audacity of charging 20% service charge when they’re not even busy. Upscale NYC Restaurants didn’t even do this. It’s my second time here and will be my last. Clearly this place is a tourist rip off and as Hoboken resident I’d tell others to steer clear is this place.
Halifax never disappoints. We had a delicious meal with great wine and a view!
Loved the unlimited sparkling wine with brunch! The view is fabulous and since it's attached to the W hotel there is a luggage room you can keep things while you're waiting to check in. The music was a bit too loud and the service was a bit rushed - the order and pacing of the plates could have been more relaxed for our liking.
Great spot for Sunday brunch. Good food and the champs just kept on coming. Def coming back
Great food, great service and great view of NYC !
Amazing all around.
We started with the mussels, which were the smallest I've ever had. My wife ordered the sirloin MR which was cooked nicely, but was unbearably chewy. I ordered the lobster rigatoni, the pasta was way too Al dente even for my liking and the whole dish had a fishy smell. In the end we ended up sending our entrees back. The management was kind enough to not charge us. It's unfortunate because this place was recommended to us and I'm hoping it was just an off night in the kitchen.
Mediocre meal and the worst service I have experience at a restaurant in a very long time. This place doesn’t hold a candle to its previous restaurant, zylo.
A bit pricey for everyday dining but a nice place for a special occasion
My husband and I absolutely love Halifax. This was our first time for dinner (we’re typically hard core Halifax brunch-ers) and we were SO happy. The food is excellent. The service is superb (shout out to Danny, the manager for taking such good care of us), and the wine list is extensive. We will definitely be coming back for every meal of the day.
Very nice ambiance. Great location. Food was really good. I’ll definitely go back in the spring.
Halifax brunch is a great place to bring a date! The food was delicious and the all inclusive brunch includes champagne. I would love to revisit soon with friends or a date.
It was romantic, food was great, and atmosphere huge plus!
I love this spot!!! Ive been here about 10 times and every time it's great!!
Great service. Location and view were spectacular only rivaled by my company. Highly reccomend.
Very disappointing .especially for a 23rd anniversary dinner evening. The riverfront location and W brand promised much but delivered little. First we were told the rooftop bar had been closed last month due to noise complaints - so no pre meal Dir inks / vista over manhattan as planned, then the dining room felt more like a mid rank bar / bistro than a high end dining venue. The staff were pleasant enough but the place lacked any atmosphere or soul. The service was very slow , and they had run out of multiple items. Really a major let down - message to W. rebrand this place as a bar scene for Friday / Saturday night - forget Hugh end dining
Service was poor. They added $20 on to each of cards (there were 3 of us) without saying anything... good thing we noticed. They said it was a "mistake". I think they were trying to pull a fast one and give the waiter almost a $100 tip.
Food was expensive and both courses came out pretty much cold. They didn't have two wines we ordered off the wine list and tried to give us one that tasted old and sour
Food was delicious but the service was not. Waiter seemed overwhelmed. Food slow to come out. Not likely to return.
The view is amazing, wish they would take more advantage of it with the seating. Calm and inviting decor that doesn't distract. Great appetizers.
Poor food, very slow. The salads of the lunch menu are very poor, only lettuce. Ceasar only with half anchovie and all the rest lettuce.
Brunch menu was delicious. Waiter brought out every item on the small plates menu to try. So much food but everything was yummy. And good price for the amount of food given. Definitely recommend.
My family and I had a great experience. Overall, the service was excellent!
Service was absolutely phenomenal! It was my aunt's birthday and they made everything so unbelievably special for her. Complimentary champagne and dessert!
The food was incredible and very fresh! Everything is homemade there, down to their bread and butter. I highly recommend coming here if you want a nice night out or to entertain visitors in town...they will be impressed!
The bubbles brunch was fantastic and a real good value! Highly recommend and we will be back!!
My husband and I went here for our wedding anniversary. The host gave us upon request a window table and was very accommodating. Our waiter was excellent and so was the food, the oysters could have been a little bigger but everything else was great. We both had the salmon and the strawberry shortcake with pistachio ice-cream to share for dessert. Really cool interior and great atmosphere with a view of Manhattan.
Overall, the food was very tasty, and it's a really good deal for brunch. The sliders were way overcooked and dry. My biggest issue was with the wait staff. Communication wasn't good and no one ever made an effort to ask if everything was ok until the last 15minutes before they were going to kick us out and we needed to pay. My other issue is the 2 hour reservation window. That's ok, but then the food needs to flow out of the kitchen. We waited without food or drinks or wait staff communication for a while until we were told the kitchen was backed up. If they can't keep up then they should allow you additional time so you aren't rushed.
I honestly expected better food for a farm to table restaurant at the W in Hoboken.
There was nothing special about this restaurant and it did not live up to the previous online hype I had seen. We dined there during restaurant week and ordered from the pre-fixe meal. The place was fairly empty for a Thursday evening however it is a hotel restaurant so kind of expected. From the moment we sat down we had 3 different people helping our table of two. The first gentleman brought us water and menus and said he'd be back for our drink order. Another man came did not introduce himself and took our drink order then again for our food. We had what seemed like a runner bring us bread, more water etc. First course salad was good and our entree came out promptly after we finished. The issue arose between finishing the entree and dessert. We waited over 40 minutes from finishing our meal to dessert coming out. None of the 3 waiters helping ever came over to explain the cause of the delay or apologize. Then we received only 1 of the desserts from the food runner and had to flag down our main waiter to ask for the other one. At that point we were beyond frustrated and becoming impatient, it took awhile to get the check and when we paid the food runner came to gather our payment, dropped it somewhere and proceeded to walk through the restaurant helping others. We had no clue where our payment was or who's hands it was passing between. To end the night on an even lower note when I returned home I had a terrible stomach pain and became ill. My boyfriend and I ate everything the same except our entree, I had the trout and he had the steak. It came on so quickly I can't help but think the fish was bad. Either way based on service and experience alone I will not be dining there again nor recommending to anyone.
Great value ($18) during Hudson Restaurant Week. Everything was really fresh, and the decor was beautiful.
Awesome food, great service. And, best of all, Jason Narod paid for my lunch.
Horrible service with a bad attitude. Stayed in Hoboken for a week, was scheduled to have dinner there another evening cancelled due to very poor service and food. Will never return.
Ate here for a friend's birthday. Planning the occasion was very easy and staff was very helpful. The eggplant/ricotta appetizer was fantastic and the desserts were awesome. Both our mains, however, were just "ok". Cocktails were also good. Would definitely try it again to see if maybe we just had an off night since all the other food was so good.
Beautiful ambience, good food and friendly staff.
Definitely worth a 2nd shot.
Halifax was quite good! I had scallops and they were perfectly cooked - it seems that they are so easy to overlook.
The seasonal cocktail of the day was great too
Halifax had an chill vibe and welcoming attitude from beginning to end. The restaurant space was beautiful and conveniently located on the riverfront. The food was consistently good and the menu has a great variety. I would definitely recommend Halifax for an impressive date night or an upscale group outing! Only complaint was that service was somewhat slow considering the restaurant was less than half full.
We had birthday brunch for my girlfriends birthday, and had an excellent time!
We liked the place and food but way overpriced!
Great menu and service. Food was good from appetizers to main. The organic chicken was very good. For dessert, the Peach Melba Sundae was very good as well as the lemon mousse. The restaurant is nicely laid and has a good view of the East River and lower Manhattan. I will definitely bring my family and friends here.
This was my second time here and this restaurant will now be at the top of my list for dining in Hoboken. While a little pricier than some other options in town the food is well worth it. Our server was just wonderful and she was very professional. Everyone in my party really enjoyed their food and their dining experience and of course you can't complain about the views.
