Food was not good. Ambiance nice. Waiter was awesome. Pancakes and funnel cake was rubbery. The entrees were served with fruity pebbles, a lot of the were on the plate, this was not on the menu or I would have said no thanks. Asked patrons at the table next to us about there food they had not finished and they indicated it lacked flavor.
It would appear that this restaurant is more about novelty, and vibe and not good, seasoned food.
The food was very good. Wings was a good snack to eat
I Love HalfSmoke ! Food Was Great , Music Was Fun , Drinks We’re Tasty . Bottomless Mimosas , Brunch Every Day OFTEN !
It was cute
Food was disappointing, only good part about this restaurant was the mimosas
Zachary "Zach" was amazing! It made our first experience phenomenal 💜👌🏾 Food Perfection ~
Waited 40 min
I’m genuinely sad to admit that we had a terrible time. We know it’s a black-owned local business, and I’ve been a loyal customer for years, but this brunch SUCKED. In the two hours that we were there, we received our cinnamon rolls that we ordered and nothing else. No food. No drinks. We had to beg the staff to bring us a bottle of tap water for the table. Apparently they only had one bar tender, and he wasn’t trained - not ideal for Sunday morning brunch. The staff and management didn’t seem phased that we weren’t getting food or drinks, and honestly we weren’t even being impatient jerks about it. We inquired twice about the status of our food/ drinks, and at the second time (2 hours in), we were told the food would need another 10-20-ishhh minutes. At this point we finally walked. Don’t think I’ll be back, I’m sorry.
If you go, I hope you have a better experience. Sincerely! We used to love this place.
Food was good, felt like service took a while. It's a 3/5 stars for me.
The food is always great I always enjoy my time here Blake our server was so amazing I had great energy even though it was super busy he got our order correct and I could tell he gave us a smile with every time we ordered some thing the vibe is very energetic young college students but I always enjoy the food here
2ne time there.
Music is super loud. A New sound system is needed.
I got the pepperoni pizza and it was just okay. $16 for a pretty small rectangular pizza.
The long Island was far from being a long Island.
The food was not good at all. Everything seemed to have been re-cooked. Our waiter never came back to check on us. We did not eat the food.
Half smoke is a great place to experience, and I absolutely love the 90-early 2000 vibes, I love the games, music, and service, but with my recent visit (Aug 2021) I was a little disappointed in the quality of food compared to pre-pandemic (which could be the reason). The quality of food such as taste, and portion sizes were a lot better before. Even the drink (frozay) seemed to have shrunk in size and lacked taste. Overall compared to my past visits the restaurant increased their prices but definitely dropped the ball on keeping the food and drinks at the same level.
It’s a very busy and trendy spot. Our server was great but the food, drinks and overall environment was not enjoyable.
Our party was large so they seated us in an outdoor patio like area. This was convenient until it began to rain and luckily we could quickly relocate. Food was not as hot as desired, or cooked properly for some guests. Mimosas came decently fast but were made by us in the beginning because they ran out of pitchers. The servers and hosts were very nice and did their best to accommodate everything.
Great food and server was great. Hostess put my table of 4 at a table for 4 so we were cramped. But because it was about to rain the server moved us inside one of the tents.
The service was absolutely terrible, our server never checked on us, left us with NO water. Then, she brought us cold food out and charged a 20% gratuity to my card.. If I ever visit again hopefully the servers are trained better. I had a better experience inside the actual restaurant compared to the rose garden.
So the Rose Garden is a good idea but the execution left a lot to be desired. Food isn’t hot when it’s being walked a block down the street from the kitchen. The wait staff at the garden were slow and at times didn’t fully do their jobs. My group was seated on Sunday (8-15-21) but no one came to provide cold water and greet us. We had to flag someone down after waiting for close to 30mins. Our first waitress took our order but didn’t bring our $40 mimosas. We had to get a manager involved who told us that our waitress was switched out for another. This was a 20min delay. Two of us ordered the Pinky and the brain entree and the food was lukewarm and my funnel cake was tasteless and soft. The entree listed home fries but it never came and when we inquired we were told that the menu is wrong. But if it’s listed then we should have them. Overall my first experience will likely be my last.
Not my cup of tea. It’s loud and not the best place to actually talk to the people you’re dining with. Service is slow and food is ok. Nothing to write home about.
Our table was in a back semi-outside room, which was a little frustrating since we booked an indoor table since it was so hot. We were sat in couches rather than a table and were told that was what our reservation was for even though it didn’t indicate that anywhere. There were lots of flies that got very annoying and kind of gross. Outside of those frustrations, the food was super delicious so at least we had that.
The whole experience was great ! Food was amazing and the unlimited mimosas hit! Just didn’t want to be charged for 2 unlimited mimosas when we only got 2 bottles that’s $80 for 2 bottles. I got 3 entrees whole ticket came to $127+….. your decision!
The food was great but the service was the worst. No one greeted us at our table for 30 minutes. We ordered right away but the person who took our order came back 10 minutes and said she was just then going to put our order in. While we were eating, a man came in and tried to sell us chewing tobacco at our table. About 10 minutes later, a homeless man walked in asking for money/food again while we were trying to enjoy our meal. It made it a very uncomfortable experience.
For brunch this place is great, for dinner it was entirely too loud. Couldn’t hear the servers or even anyone at our table.
Good food. Service was nice; it was just a very busy day. No A/C so it was pretty hot in there. The wait times were very long. Used to be a pretty good place. A lot has changed.
Terrible outdoor seating service . Bubble pods extremely hot inside, portable air inside did not accommodate for our table of 5. The hostess that sat us bought a unplugged fan over to us with no extension plug to turn on and bottle of water with no cups, she disappeared and never came back with the plug nor cups.Servers did not bother to tend to our table until we flagged a random server down to take our order, she only bought us over mimosas to apologize for the wait but our table server did not come to take our food order until 30 min later. Once order was taken we waited over an hour and a half for our food only for it to be cold. This Sunday reserved brunch was for a friend’s bday and she was very unpleased with the service at this outdoor venue. Will never come back to halfsmoke’s outdoor rose garden seating such a waste.
Horrible service! Was seated outside in the Rose Garden. I thought it would be ok since they had covered dinning. They put us in a plastic bubble that had no covering that was starting literally cook us. Heat and plastic don't mix. We asked to be moved to a picnic table because sitting in the heat under a covered umbrella was better than that plastic bubble. It took 16mins for a server to come over. Once we received our food, one order was wrong. They ran out of crab meat, substituted crab with shrimp but didn't bother to tell us that they were out of crab meat, we would have ordered something else had we known in advance. Placed another order, when that arrived at the table, that order was wrong also. Poor Service all around! DO NOT RECOMMEND!
Had outdoor seating at the rose garden. Poorly put together and unorganized, service was slow. Waited almost two hours never got my food. It was uncomfortably hot in the bubble so we ended up leaving. There were fake nails all in the fake grass inside our bubble.
The outdoor seating is horrible!!!! The hosts were not at the entrance to seat us. We had to walk inside and ask around in order to be seated after standing at the entrance for 5 minutes in 90 degree weather. All of the fans are broke!! Ice was not served with our drinks.. we had warm drinks in 90 degree weather!!! The servers came to our table about 2 times.. never checked on us. All of the workers had no proper work clothes on. The waiter's buttcheecks were out.. one had on no bra.. You couldn't tell who worked there and who didn't.
We had outside seating. It was across the street and half way down the block. There was no bathroom or hostess. My Chappell sandwich had a tiny chicken sausage cut in half with 2 pieces of arugula on it. The waitress said she saw that it had nothing on it but didn’t say anything. I sent it back and was not offered a chance to order something else. The manager, Lulu took it off the bill and gave 20% discount. They gave us the bill in a dirty, raggedy old plastic DVD cases that was falling apart. The bathroom had one stall working out of 3. And it was dirty.
We were seated outside in the tents. Waitress was extremely rude. Constantly complained about having to go across the street for everything we ordered as if she didn’t know it was part of the job. The set up is cute but it’s not attached to Half Smoke. It’s across the street at the opposite end of the block. So you have to travel to the actual restaurant to use the restroom.
Don’t eat here. Food is gross, service is terrible, and the restaurant is dirty.
Fun concept with lunch box presentation. It’s a cool theme with music videos blaring, a lounge and board game section. The cocktails were great and the food had fun names. It’s not for EVERYONE because the music is too loud to hold a conversation, but if you want to drink, eat appetizers, sausages and enjoy a TRAP vibe, this is your spot.
Our servers just made the experience mot as great as it could have been. She seemed to be training someone but she had poor habits. Had to ask multiple times to get mimosas. Then they weren’t chilled when we received them. Once the mimosas came we needed glasses. Half the glasses were dirty or smelled weird. I ordered the poached eggs they came boiled probably from sitting under the heat lamp. I enjoyed myself still since they served us the food after being there for about an hour.
I came here for a birthday reservation on time. We reserved an outdoor bubble for 10 people and the rain destroyed the bubble and it collapsed. The staff did not make an attempt to seat us inside when we had a reservation. It was pouring and there was no attempt to accommodate us. Will not be returning, and went across the street to eat instead.
The outdoor seating is cheap plastic tents that create a sauna on the inside. The waiters have to run back and forth from the outdoor seating to the restaurant across the street making everything take forever.
Outside set up is great for sun, but can still get soaked in the rain. Bottomless is a great deal, but food is just okay. Never get the salad - not worth it.
Needs some work. Has the potential to be a great restaurant, but needs a lot of improvement!
Our server was amazing and the food was bomb! The ambiance was giving 🤩
Food was unseasoned, waitress had unsanitary issues. Her hair was long, past her butt and was everywhere. Nobody was at the front to greet and seat customers for 20mins. The waitress didn't check on us after food was delivered.
It was horrible service has went down since a year or two ago. Something needs to happen. Also it would be nice if they remodeled for more space
