Our waiter was amazing.
HalfSmoke is a lot of fun! Love the music and the vibe. Will be back soon.
Great $30 happy hour! Fun environment! Thoroughly enjoyed my time
SUCH good food, atmosphere and general vibe. Our server Lana was great! She made sure our food was HOT and our drinks were never empty.
Slow service, food was overcooked had to send back. Bottomless mimosa ordered with food per person but only one was brought to our table. I like the music and vibe very cool setting with early 90's themes throughout which was a nice touch.
Exceptional staff, vibe, music and food. I’d for sure come back when in DC!!!
It was amazing, I was celebrating my anniversary with my girlfriend and felt super welcomed and our waitress made sure everything was perfect. Amazing food and amazing service.
While the servers themselves and the manager Michelle were great, we (a party of 3) experienced many challenges patronizing Halfsmoke. Our reservation was at 3:30pm but we weren’t seated for about 20-25 minutes. We ordered around 4pm and our food arrive AFTER 5pm. When the food arrived, it was incomplete with the orders lacking key items (home fries, fried pickles, etc.). When we brought it to Michelle’s attention, she was very gracious and cited “2 cooks calling off” as the source of the delays. While understandable, those challenges should never be experienced by the patrons. It reflects poorly on the management and their ability to staff appropriately. As an added bonus, we observed the other manager (we did not get his name) on his phone while helping to get orders out — which, presumably affects the efficiency of order delivery and we observed a worker, whose post was at the fryer, EATING while frying up food for orders. I’m not an expert on DC food code, but as a public health professional with a background in food safety, this is very concerning. Sunday brunches can be busy and overwhelming. Establishments such as Halfsmoke need to have at minimum TWO contingency plans in place in the event of limited staff.
We had fun. Our waitress, Chantal C., was good. She was very flexible and kept checking in with us to make sure we were doing good. We’ll be back again!
It was my Birthday celebration.
Long wait for the food but it was worth it. Great service!
Just a bit too noisy for my taste and my girlfriend. The food was interesting but very tasty and appetizing. Think I’ll try it again but not on a Saturday night.
It took longer than an hour to get our food and our server barely acknowledged us the entire meal. We had to flag people for everything.
Very busy, our table wasn’t ready, our food and drinks took forever. Such a cool spot. Would try lunch next time instead of dinner. Definitely make a reservation if you are not a local.
NICE EXPERIENCE, MUSIC AND FOOD WAS GOOD. LOVED THE GAMES.
Great location, service and food! Would highly recommend to anyone in the area.
Once again...Justice was amazing. She continues to provide excellent customer care and service.
Food took a long time to arrive and was cold. The ambiance was fun and the mimosas were terrific.
Just overall was a great experience. I loved the vibe! I was in town visiting my best friends and we came in for brunch. So glad we did...it reminded me why I love DC so much!
Portions were really small. It was disappointing that a place called half smoke skimped on their meat.
We came for the brunch with unlimited mimosas and the restaurant had no champagne. Then, when we asked for a drink substitution, there was no manager present to talk to so the waitress would make one. So, we left.
While my friends and I had a reservation, was seated and finishing up our brunch the waitress asked us to hurry up and finish so that she could sit a party of 6 where we were. The issue that came into play was that not far by there was an empty table made to sit 6, so why must we leave when we are paying?
Overall, the food was good and I really enjoyed the 1990s nostalgia. However, in general, it is a bit overpriced.
Couldn't have been better. The serves were super accommodating and attentive to our needs. A lot of good reviews from people who came to our happy hour, but it couldn't have been a success without the kindness of the staff. Special thanks to Michelle who was so helpful in making sure our needs were met!
I went there for the first time for brunch to celebrate my birthday and it was great. I was so happy with service and everything. I can’t wait to go back
This was my first time at halfsmoke, we were very excited to try it out as we had a group of 8 people. The restaurant was fairly empty but we were seated in the back corner. Though the waitress was nice, the service was incredibly slow. It took 30 min to get drinks and they constantly had to come back to double check that they took our order correctly. Not to mention they brought the wrong foods multiple times. Instead of checking in on us our waitress and other staff members would eat at the table next to us which was just bizarre. As we sat in the back corner with empty tables around us, one table had a printer and laptop on it? It just felt very informal.
One our group members was confronted by a homeless man in the bathroom who screamed at him with swear words and threatened him. Our waitress told us that this happens all the time but it just felt bizarre that they didn’t seem to care.
The food was fine but with the overall experience I don’t think I would ever come back or recommend this restaurant to a friend.
The food was fantastic! The only complaint was that it was just soooo loud in there. It was towards the end of brunch so I just think a lot of people were a little drunk and rowdy, so maybe it would be calmer during other times of the day. Would still go back since the food was so good!
Great value! Cool 90s music
Cool environment with board games and fun throw back music!
It’s $30 for bottomless mimosas with an entree! Brunch is usually hard as allergic to eggs but I got the Mac & cheese with bacon, so so good and huge portions!!
Michelle and Justice were great. My colleagues truly enjoyed the experience and can't wait to go back. Nice touch with the $30 HH.
Very good food and service
Prices are very good . Pizza /flatbread was delicious . Some tables were so loud I couldn’t think but that wasn’t the fault of the resturaunt . Mac n cheese bites were delicious as well. Also very fun to have board games available to pass the time .
Our seats were ready immediately upon arrival, they sat my friend down without me having to be there which was great (I came 3 minutes later) I strongly advise making a reservation this place was packed!!! A nice nostalgia themed ambiance (think of a millennials childhood) staff was attentive mimosas were strong. I suggest getting a good understanding of the entree menu as I was big in the scramble called (too lit to quit) that I got but that was my fault for not getting a clear understanding. Other that still awesome and would go again great service..
Don't bother booking a reservation because the place is packed and 10/10 you'll have to wait. Our reservation was for 3:45PM and we weren't seated until 4:30PM. SMH and our table was not big enough for three ppl. We had to push another table together once a party left. The place is super cute and hip/litty but def not worth the wait .
Our brunch was off to a rough start when it took 30 mins to seat us even though we had a reservation. It seemed like the hosts were overwhelmed. Once got seated, Mackenzie was an amazing server. I got the The Walk of Shame and it was good but I think the meat was very garlicky and it was almost unbearable.
Me and my group went for brunch and it was nothing short or amazing. Food
Celebrated my birthday with their brunch. It was lots of fun.
