The music was too loud. I lost my voice trying to talk to my people. 3 of my guests left because of the noise and one refuse to order because of the noise she just wanted to leave. I loved the music but it didn’t need to be that damn loud. I don’t know who worked there and who were guests. I asked
several servers for an extra chair and never received it. My glass was dirty. The server checked on us once after she take our order but didn’t bring anything back we asked for. She charged my people for things they didn’t order and claimed she saw them drinking mimosas but little did she know my family member is high allergic to oranges so that was impossible. But after that pointless back and forth she changed it but had an nasty attitude. She didn’t smile until she saw her tip. We definitely won’t return, that place is for kids. That what is was kids serving kids.
I love this restaurant! Great food and great vibes!
Half smoke is a great concept, with a great location, good design, and a mostly enthusiastic front of the house staff. I've read good reviews and had reasonable expectations. The food is -at best- just deeply, deeply mediocre. It's a shame.
Masai is a great waitress! Super friendly, bubbly and outgoing! Her suggestions for items to order on the menu were spot on! My friends and I were not disappointed. The food here was good and we thought it was unique from the menu’s to the board game-play during brunch. Next time I go back I’ll be trying the loaded Bloody Mary that’s on the menu! Thanks Masai & Half Smoke for a great first time.
Very poor service. Staff was dismissive and rude. Refused to to split the check.
Great food! They had plenty of games for us to play while waiting for the food.
The food was amazing , the atmosphere inside is alSo dope!! Server could work on her attentiveness she continuously abandoned us for her other tables ( she did later apologize and said it was her first big party )
I originally came in April and did not have the best experience, but decided to give it another try this past weekend and I can say that things were TURNED AROUND!. I came in and Kevin took immediate care of me, making sure that I was seated okay since I was alone. I had requested a few modifications to the item I wanted for brunch and he made sure that it was taken care of. The place was busy (it was Sunday brunch, which I can understand) but he remained attentive and constantly checking if I needed anything at all. The place has a fun atmosphere, great music playing throughout the restaurant (so much so that people got up and started dancing! It gave me a good laugh) and people that you can tell enjoying coming there. I am definitely going to make sure I come back, and this time I will make sure to bring a friend with me! Thanks HalfSmoke!
Enjoyed the ambiance and atmosphere, wished the funnel cake was better done. Chicken was HITTIN’ though!
Food was good, nothing mind blowing. Service was good but felt rushed even though there was barely anyone else in the restaurant.
Nice environment but the crab cakes were not good at all. They were burnt and tasteless. just crab filler - no crab meat at all. I was highly disappointed.
service was slow and they were slow to replace the drinks
Went to Halfsmoke for brunch with a group of 7. Two of us ordered bottomless mimosas with our entrees. When they came, there was so little champagne in them that it really wasn’t worth it. Also, our server only came by to refill our glasses one time during brunch. Our table also ordered tequila shots which tasted watered down.
Between the seven of us we ordered almost every entree on their brunch menu. The food was definitely good but the slow service and weak drinks left us pretty disappointed.
food was average but the bottomless mimosas were worth it. great place to have brunch
Our server was amazing, and the food was delicious. We did bottomless mimosas, and the refills were very prompt. Highly recommended!
The service was rude, to say the least. We listened to their servers ask multiple parties to hurry up and finish. Service was disorganized, and our meals both came out at room temperature. Worst dining experience to date. Will not be returning.
The server wasn’t very friendly and there was a large gap of time in receiving our dishes amongst the group. Interesting that gratuity was automatically added to our bill when our group size was only 6 people and we paid with one card because we were told she would not split the check even though last time we were at this establishment with a larger group they were happy to provide separate checks and did not have automatic gratuity.
The $30 brunch deal is a GREAT deal with bottomless mimosas. The Bad & Boujee was delicious, and we had fun playing with the board games while we finished our mimosas!
Love the concept!!! The overall atmosphere was a VIBE!!! The food was worth the wait and the music was everything! I highly recommend and I will definitely be back.
Waitress was on her phone...😬
Great bratwurst cooked over wood fires.
I loved the 90s theme and the games. I really loved the late 90s and early 2000s music videos playing in the background. Was a very fun atmosphere. Our waitress was very friendly and fun.
My friend and I ate here for brunch. It was perfect!
This place looked really cool and even had a lot of great reviews, so I was excited to get my friends together for brunch. The food was GARBAGE. No one at our table liked what they got. I got the french toast which tasted like stale bread. My friends got the mac & cheese, which was SUPER greasy and oily. My boyfriend got the eggs benedict which came with overcooked eggs. The potatoes and bacon were undercooked. The only thing they did right was the bottomless mimosas - they would bring out 3 large carafes at a time, so if you just want mimosas and not really interested in food, this would be the place for you. But if you're drinking bottomless mimosas... you should probably have some food in your stomach! Also...the bathroom hallway smelled really gross.
I waited 45 minutes before I ever got any beverage & 4 tables that were seated after I got their mimosas & water soon after they sat down. My server HAD THEE WORST ATTITUDE and did not communicate well, as in they were out of water in the jugs and didn't tell us that until we complained. I felt the restaurant was understaffed for the number of people there, plus there was a private party going on. The food was just ok. And then when we asked for the manager she took care of the table next to us but not us. So we paid full price for terrible service & so-so food. AMAZING. This was also my first time and it will be my last. THEY WON'T GET ANYMORE OF MY COINS!!!
Service was poor, the waitress was lazy had several people waiting on food, water and drinks for over 30 mins. I had a reservation and waited 25 minutes past my reservation time to be seated. There wasn’t a hostess the young lady who seated was overworked and tired. This was my last time going there.
The food was not great. Our mimosa carafe had dirt and hair at the bottom and the bar tender tried to say it was from the fruit. I don’t think I’ll be back
Had a great time! This restaurant was part of a pub crawl and I’m very happy we attended! The only complaint I have is the funnel cake was thin, flat and extra crispy when it should have been thick and fluffy for the delicious garnishment it had on it. Other than that the experience was great! Thank you!
ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS AND A FUN ATMOSPHERE!! They have games for you to play and the music is spot on!
I found HalfSmoke after looking for places with bottomless deals and they seemed like a great place to go! I made a reservation for noon just for myself. I was seated immediately which was great, but it took them 45 minutes to bring me anything or take my order. I had several waitresses walk by me and ask if I was alone and I told them yes multiple times. I was frustrated. I decided to the the bottomless, which was limited to 90 minutes, but my server only brought me one carafe of the mimosas. I felt like I did not get my money's worth. Annoyed, I asked for the check politely, which took 20 minutes. When I put my card in the slip, it took another 15 minutes for my waitress to swipe it and bring it back to me. I waitressed for 6 years and never experienced anything like this. The ambiance of the place was very cool and a cool concept for a website, but I think the customer service could be better. It was my first time there and majority of my experience was just waiting around, which is never any fun. I would go, but do expect subpar service.
Great place to celebrate a chill but fun birthday. Was able to catch up with friends, eat good food and have great drinks here before exploring U Street. I will be back!
Food was good, very salty though but I guess that is to be expected from sausages right? Had a major good surprise. Apparently Tuesdays are Trivia Nights! Was very fun! Server kept the drinks coming and the atmosphere was very light. Highly recommend for large groups or a couple's night out.
Great vibes. Great music. Great food. Visited there recently from out of town. Best brunch spot I’ve ever been to! Definitely recommend!
Decent food, slow and inattentive service, too loud to have a conversation.
This is NOT the place to go with a group. We waited 20 minutes to be greeted by a server, we put in our food and drink order together. Drinks never came. In 40 mins! Food came out with large gaps in between, half our party was finished eating and the other half hadn’t received their order yet. Worst, we were sat as a clearly upset large group was leaving and as we left another large group, who had been sat next to us, were still waiting to put in a drink order after having been sat for over 15 mins. So we were not an anomaly. AVOID!!
Wonderful time — in and out for a quick bite and happy hour. Great selection of board games to boot. Definitely will be returning in the future!
Came here with my friends thinking this will be a typical Tuesday, but we ended up spending the evening playing trivia! Loved the food, and the atmosphere. We’ll be back!
great place to bring friends who are in town visiting. Has a fun atmosphere and great food.
The ambiance and traditional brunch aspects were fun and light. Carafes of Mimosa were brought fairly regularly to the table but it was heavy on the juice and the options of juices were just ok. My friends loved the loaded Bloody Mary.
I was not blown away at the brunch options or what I received, Mac and Cheese with Fried Chicken. I would recommend half-heartedly.
