   The food at the establishment was flavorful; however, the steak was significantly overcooked. Although I requested a medium preparation, it arrived well done. Additionally, I ordered my eggs to be cooked over easy, but there was no runny yolk present. On a positive note, the waitress was friendly and kind, although her attentiveness was lacking. It was unclear if the restaurant was understaffed, as there were instances when I had to seek her out for assistance. Based on this experience, I am hesitant to return.

   We didn't end up getting our food after we had ordered. Server said that it was because they were making it "fresh" but I'm curious how making a smoked rack of ribs "fresh" makes sense to the restaurant. We did not end up getting charged and our server was kind but we sat for over an hour with no food.

   Wanted to try what was rated as one of best HalfSmoke restaurants in DC. Everything we had was amazing. Our service was excellent and was really just a great experience. Would say go again anytime.

   Very mediocre experience. The service was very slow despite the fact that not many people were in the restaurant. The food was decent but lacking in flavor. Definitely an option if you need a quick brunch but wouldn’t choose this place over the many delicious restaurants in the DC area.

   As a DC native, I grew up on half smokes at cookouts, so this restaurant is a fav of mine. The food is excellent, the space has a comfortable vibe, and the service is always friendly. The sandwiches seem a little smaller than a couple years ago but always tasty and well crafted.

   While the food has definitely improved, the service still leaves a lot to be desired. The main issue was in the communication between our party & the server. Someone ordered the 'blacker the berry' cocktail; our server brought out a clearly not berry drink & tried to tell us that it was what we ordered. Another person ordered a gin & tonic; our server brought a tequila & tonic. Additionally, the restaurant had maybe one other large group & a few people seated at the bar, but the service was very slow.

    We had a great experience for our party of 4. Our waitress, Esther was very sweet and accommodating even making substitutions when the menu said “no substitutions”. There a was a hiccup with one of the orders. The manager made it right immediately, without us even asking. We had a great time!
