Half Moon Point Ratings and Reviews
A very enjoyable evening was had by my group. The manager was very very helpful to accommodate us with a minor concern & the waiter was competent & friendly.
It is a local restaurant that I will return to often.
Rating was unclear... hopefully indicated 10’s but didn’t know what was highest rating was ... until I made the selection.. need to clarify
While the atmosphere, food and drinks were fabulous, we booked on open table and the available times weren’t what we wanted. We went with the best choice available and when we were done with our dinner, there were plenty of seats indicating we could have booked for a more desirable time. I checked on the way out and they didn’t have a clue how open table worked. My suggestion, call to book the time you would like rather then relay on open table! Enjoy your experience!
Watching this restaurant being built we knew we'd have to try it out and see if it was fit for the Jersey Shore Crowds.. and it was.. and more. The food is out of this world amazing, the staff grants your every wish and service was remarkably superb! The only let down was we sat too close to the upstairs bar crowd and we were quickly drowned out by the noise there. All goo noise but just a little too loud for our taste. The meal was so good, tasty and came out quickly.
Our server was very humble, gracious, listened carefully to our questions and provided us with the kind of services you would wish all restaurants had. The staff was respectful and sat us immediately (we made reservations ahead of time, as recommended)! I would highly recommend the Half Moon Point to all our friends and family! You will not be disappointed in any meal you choose here!
We just ate there for the first time. It has a contemporary beachy decor and a lively bar. Although we didn't sit at the bar we noticed it is one where you'd be able to have a drink and both see and hear the people you are talking to. The food was plentiful, hearty and delicious. Service was friendly and professional. We'll be back for sure.
There were 6 of us and the waitress screwed up the orders for 3 of the meals. My food was very good, but my husband’s order and 2 other people at the table got the wrong orders. The waitress blamed the kitchen, but it was clear that she didn’t understand the menu. They have “butcher’s cuts” of meats and until she brought over the menu and we pointed to the correct items, she didn’t understand what was ordered. Drink service for a party of 6 was the slowest I’ve ever seen anywhere. Overall, good food, but not worth enduring the bad service.
Even with an Open Table reservation we still had to wait at least 30 minuted past our reservation time. Food was outstanding. Mixed drinks were so so at best, maybe an off night for the upstairs bar tender. Dinners came out before the appetizers, waitress attributed it to a “kitchen mix up”. Given the food was very good I would definitely give Half Moon Point another shot.
We were seated at a table by the restroom, waiter station and door to the kitchen, so needless to say it was not great. The waiter was good, but the Malbec we ordered was warm, and someone else brought the wrong soup, which was not hot. The main courses were delicious and it’s a pretty place.
Dined during Restaurant Week and selected items from that menu. Lobster bisque was not very good. Bread/rolls were mediocre. Entrees: Pork chop was good, chicken was dry. Dessert: Creme brûlée cheesecake was super sweet and had a burnt taste. Service was on the slow side, we waited a long time for our glasses of wine to arrive before dinner.
I recommended this place for my friends who wanted to take me out for my birthday. I was there a few weeks before and had a pleasant experience. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming. I have to eat gluten-free. The waitress started off ok but then seemed to get annoyed with having to ask Chef about whether or not dishes were gluten free. It was Restaurant Week and none of the dishes were GF but they made one of them without a glaze (pork)so it would be GF which was nice; however, it tasted spoiled. I sent it back. Could not really find anything GF that I wanted so settled for hamburger salad. Hamburger was good but too much dressing on salad. The check was adjusted fairly. Dessert chocolate flourless cake tasted more like a frozen brownie. I was very dissapoibted. There should be GF options. More and more restaurants offer this I’m not sure if I will give this place another shot.
Went to dinner at Half Moon for Restaurant Week. Everything I chose was delicious (beet salad, pumpkin seed covered salmon, molten lava cake). My friend ordered from the regular menu--her choice was also very good. Service was good. Would definitely return.
Off to bad start. 25 minute wait beyond our reservation time. When called to the manager's attention, we were seated in minutes and she bought the first round of drinks for the inconvenience. In truth, it was a Sat nite and very busy. From that point on, everything was very good. On the food side, I got the Bay Bake (good portions of clams, scallops, shrimp, cod and crab cake) A+ and I will have it again. A little too much sauce on the 2 orders of Scallops Fra Diablo (as in swimming) but very good taste. A cheeseburger and wings were huge and as good as expected. We will certainly visit again.
