This dining experience was excellent!! Our server, Darius, could not have been better - his timing for everything was perfect - he knew when to let us talk, when we could have fun with him, when we were ready to order, etc. - very situationally aware, which you don't find a lot at restaurants. The food was excellent - great choices and expertly prepared. The Artichoke Tartine, as an appetizer, was one of the best things I have ever tasted and the rest of the table was in agreement! Unbelievable, melt-in-your-mouth, flavors - soooo good! We tried the Cioppino, Kauai Shrimp, Lobster Roll & Braised Short Ribs - all perfectly executed. And of course, the desserts!! Beautiful works of art, that are just as delicious as they are beautiful. Looking forward to another visit real soon, because it was just outstanding. Compliments to the Night Mgr., Michael Villanueva, for running such a fine operation. He couldn't have been more hospitable and more eager to make sure that our dining experience was a good one. And again, to Darius, thank you for making our evening so very special - you are truly one of a kind and the Halepuna should be proud to have you as an employee. Thank you!
Beautiful space and the food was lovely including cocktails! Wonderful staff and service was impeccable! The baked goods and bread was great too.
The service was over the top. Food very different and good.
Lobby, entrance, and public areas very sterile in design and decorations. Needs more breezy Hawaiian feel. Otherwise food and service were excellent.
A beautiful yet casual restaurant in the Halepuna Hotel. The bakery, restaurant and hotel lobby all seamlessly connected, but somehow each is also distinct. The glass wall 'opens' the dining room to the bakery room so you can watch sweet creations being made. Charming staff.
Gathered a group of 6 to celebrate a birthday. First time here for everyone and we all loved this place. Our server, Keaton, was excellent - which is why I made sure to note his name. Will be back for sure.
Our party of 3 arrived early and browsed the bakery. Everything looked delicious, too good to eat. How does the baker(s) create desserts that look fake but are actually edible. We had a lot of time to study the menu, so we ordered as soon as we were seated. We each ordered the French onion soup: delicious, probably one of the best I've ever had. We shared the pork belly banh mi and lobster roll. The banh mi was not your typical banh mi. The pork belly was cook to perfection; this was probably the best banh mi I've ever had. The lobster roll was also very flavorful. It had a lot of crab, but it was a very tiny sandwich. Overall the food is very good, prices are up there, and the portions are small. An average sized male would leave the restaurant still hungry. Conclusion: if you like good food, try it. If you're a big eater, be prepared to leave hungry, or expect to put a dent on your charge card.
Thanks to Matrie’d Reggie for the friendly service and making sure our valentines dinner was satisfying
Valentine’s Day dinner, was good! Had the special Valentine Prix fixe menu, featuring the Beef Wellington. It was delicious, but small, in my opinion. The last time I had Beef Wellington was at Gordon Ramsey’s in Vegas. I like the Halepuna’s Wellington!
The Valentine's Day special meal menu was outstanding. Every course was delicious! The dessert was a standout.
Very nice experience. Wines were good. Area to improve is the pork belly in the sandwich. Could have been more moist and flavorful.
Incredible experience. Our server and the manager were very friendly and informative. Thank you for a great meal.
The restaurant tries very hard to be upscale but the food is just average and the portions on the small side. The onion soup is better at Longhorn Steakhouse where it is less than I/3 of the price. The bakery is definitely overpriced. I bought a cinnamon roll and it was dry and without flavor. Warming it didn't help. It was obviously very old. If you are in the area go across the street and eat at Orchids where for a few dollars more you get a great meal.
First time visit for dinner, our last visit was during Thanksgiving 2019 during there Set diner buffet. My only bad note the bakery was closed already before our dinner reservation, was looking forward for that visit to check it out. PLEASE list that bit of information on the web site, besides us we heard the disappointed guest during of dinner. Overall dinner was good, but save the room for dessert for sure it was Outstanding.
Just over look the price and enjoy the food and friendly staff.
Some of the best service. Beautiful hotel and ambiance. Wonderful food. So nice and quiet to enjoy all of this
Perhaps I shouldn’t submit this, because it may become too popular !
Haha, but they truly should be enjoyed by all!
The waiter and his team provided a good restaurant experience for us. Thank you for the piece of birthday cake for my 99-year old mother.
They definitely know how to cook well. Plating was beautiful. Menu was small, but well done. Love the farm to table concept. Value was great. Don't let the name fool you. This is a legitimate restaurant. Haven't found anything compairable in Waikiki. It's a hidden gem.
Good parking with valuation, thank you.
Beautiful new lobby and easy to find. Outstanding service and decorating and ambiance for our style. Some girls found menu little pricey for locals, maybe Kamaaina discount would help.
Halekulani Bakery is a very nice casual restaurant, with nice service and food, while a bit pricey.
We would prefer the House without a Key due to the ocean view, however
Nice, quiet place for lunch. Supper staff.
Pricy, but considering it is Waikiki and the type of hotel and service; good to go!!!
Setting great- quiet and attractive. Service great too- friendly, helpful staff. Food not bad but not great& because of that gave it a 3
My husband and I have eaten here twice and the food and service have been great both times. The food is innovative and delicious and the service is attentive and very friendly. This seems to be a bit of an unknown restaurant - the place was about half full both times we ate here. While the restaurant doesn't have a view, the chance to have a great dinner in a quiet setting is what keeps us coming back.
Peter was our extraordinary server and was simply amazing from the get go to finish. Food was fresh, delicious and the same touches you expect from Orchids and the Halekulani brand! Kudos to Peter Shandolin and his team in the total rebirth of Halepuna! Gorgeous!! Mahalo Nui Loa !🙏🏻🤙🏻Harry & Patti Kasanow
This was our first visit. The Vietnamese sandwich was tasty and bread soft enough to chew. The moist tonkatsu sandwich was very good too. Service was excellent and pricing was good. We intent to try the breakfast buffet in the future.
The pastries are wonderful, but a bit overpriced, and the food was okay. Could use a little more options on the lunch menu. The service was outstanding!
We really enjoyed our lunch here. Started with the artichoke tartine, out of this world, a flavor explosion with every bite, even my sister who doesn't like sourdough breads, thoroughly enjoyed this appetizer. Our server Ricky was wonderful, attentive, not obtrusive. Would we return, absolutely, looking forward to our next visit.
Nice meal in a quiet setting with all the Halekulani expertise. Looking forward to a return visit on our next stay In Waikiki.
Few patrons, many servers, therefore, TOO much attention.
BE PREPARED with gift cards and/or gift certificates. Didn't you expect to be a success?
As expected from Halekulani...excellent! A very Japanese experience in Hawaii with its service, attention to detail, baked goods, pastries and food. What more can I say.
5 out of 6 had ordered coffee - served only 4 of us.
2 of os ordered the burgers - one burger was missing the bacon and both were missing avocado. When asked about the avocado “it’s a misprint” it doesn’t come with avocados?!?! HUH?
Wow! Dinner was fabulous! The tastes were works of art. The service was impeccable. We found this by chance and now will never miss a chance to dine there. We can’t wait to try it for breakfast.
Flavors were a bit subdued. Warabi salad was refreshing. Kauai shrimp dish was flavorful. Desserts were unique.
Very disappointing Christmas experience _ great menu let down by extremely undercooked gritty cuts of lamb and beef - would not recommend the Christmas Buffet- it was just plain bad - to be fair the servers were good!
I was impressed with the selection. Christmas buffet only had something for everybody. Seafood, chicken, beef, lamb, soup, salad, dessert. Expensive.
Fine dining in a casual Waikiki Bakery? Yes, the Halepuna Bakery across the lane from the Halekulani Hotel recently opened with a lunch menu that is heavy on excellent burgers, great sandwiches, salads and a classy dessert menu. Dinner is replete with French onion soup, a Warabi and Opai salad that is a wreath of ferns and tiny tasty shrimps, Banh Min croissant sandwiches, Monchong broiled fish, New York steak, and Cioppino main courses. The meals are refined, being prepared by a special chef from Japan, so it's a few steps up from a popular bakery in Hawaii. Who would expect to find an Artichoke Tartin or grilled cheese sliders for kids? Plus the fact that desserts are made on site, original beautiful works of art all displayed in showcases. Meals are all reasonably priced as you would find in a regular bakery, but know that it is what would be called "Elegant Bakery" standard. Recommend you give this 'bakery' a visit, parking is validated at the Halekulani porte cohere.
My son really enjoyed the Burger, he especially liked the bacon that came with the burger. I had the venison, which was a small portion but flavorful. Maybe a small deer! My wife ordered fish which was supposed to be Monchong but was changed to Mahi mahi since they were out of Monchong, the dish that the fish came in was not so appealing. She would have preferred the Monchong.
Very nice waitstaff. Appetizers were great. My banh mi was really disappointing and they forgot the dressing. The ambiance was strange, weird lighting and didn’t have a high end restaurant feel. Overall was an ok experience but may not return for dinner.
