Halani has fantastic ambiance and location at the Mauna Lani Hotel. All aspects of both the service and food are highly focused and executed. Our only complaint and it is a big one is quite a few of the dishes come with small to very small portion sizes which is not acceptable with the prices they charge. Sadly shrinkflation and maybe the artistic execution of the chef really limit the size of portions you get. Maybe they feel this is offset by the Ohana entrees they offer which are huge and serve 3-4 people? But if you order individual entrees don't be surprised if you are underwhelmed by the portion sizes. Overall the food is tasty and again well executed. We love the fact the food is farm to table, extremely fresh and prepared in ways that are original and creative. If you are a food lover this is a place to dine at. We will not hesitate to return but the return on investment is weak with what you pay.

The staff was personable and professional and the presentations of Halani’s version of their Caprese salad and entrees beautiful in addition to tasty (the bone-in pork chop and Catch of the Day). The ambiance, especially at sunset, spectacular.

I loved my experience at Halani from the beginning to the end. We were received by the friendliest hostess with the a smile more beautiful than the sun on the island. We were given an amazing table outside , perfect distance from the band, although I still had to lean in to hear the conversation. Our server was amazing, I wish I could remember his name, but his kind attitude and his knowledge of the menu is all I can remember, guess why? Cocktails were top notch! their French 75 were almost as good as mine and their gin martini was crisp and strong. We shared the garden salad, it was perfect. We ordered blackened Ahi tuna steak and their fish of the day dish, both were absolutely amazing and I mean it! Dessert menu is just right on! I ordered their home made ice cream and sorbet, and a shot of chartreuse. Perfect ending to a great dining experience.

I rarely comment on restaurants but I’m afraid that this place needs a ding on the food. They claim farm to table, yet my ribeye was from Utah and to be honest it wasn’t good (very fatty with tough connective) literally half the steak was garbage. Sorry. The lobster mac was mediocre and tasted like garlic rather than anything else. The burger we shared was good. The fries good. The pavlova was horrible. The service and ambiance was excellent. Not really a farm to table restaurant.

The food, ambience and service were exceptional. Probably the best pork chop I’ve ever had. Adding to and embellishing on the wonderful atmosphere and experience was the gentle sound of Hawaiian slack key musician John Keawe. A marvelous meal in a beautiful setting. It is expensive, but worthwhile for a special occasion.

We tried this place based on ratings and reviews from OpenTable. I would say it wasn’t my favorite. The resort where this is located is amazing and beautiful. The food was ok, but not fantastic. It was a bit noisy for us, and there was music playing, but not relaxing Hawaiian music(which is what we would’ve expected and wanted). Anyway, it was decent, but not worth the money in my opinion.

One of our favorite "Gp To" spots on Island, we live locally and always are treated with kindness. We were kindly greeted at the check in, seated at a beautiful table. Our waiter Randall was fantastic, informative, attentive but not bothersome. The drinks crafted cocktails are delicious, PuPu's solid and the Whole Fish Kampachi; one of our favorites! It was a 5 star experience, the only kicker is the cost. It would be nice if there was a locals rate or Kama'aina discount; as it's pretty pricy for a regular stop. All in all, a great "Date Night" spot for us.

Everything was absolutely perfect! The food, the service, the ambience. I would highly recommend going to Halani. . The Caprese salad was absolutely outstanding, as well as the lobster mac & cheese, and the fish of the day. The music was soft and soothing. The view was beautiful. Couldn’t have asked for a better dinner or a more perfect evening.

This is the MOST beautiful place to have dinner on the big island. The food and drinks were very good but the atmosphere and the service are what make this place so special. It felt like a dream. After dinner we went to the beach and looked at the stars for a while, it was the perfect way to end the night.

We went for the Easter brunch. It wasn't cheap but boy was it good. It is, after all, Mauna Lani. The waffles were great, the prime rib perfect, and the service friendly and attentive. I highly recommend dining at the Mauna Lani resort any time, not just Easter brunch.
