Pasta was so salty. Only one fish choice which came hard, overcooked and w/out flavor. Lobster pizza was tiny, had very little lobster, and too much lemon. The pizza size varies night per night. First time we went we had a huge delicious lobster pizza. And next time it was 1/3 the size. The bar area and service was great. Shay, our server was really on top of things! The view from the bar is wonderful but blocked by the bar for the restaurant. The music/hula dancer were beautiful but the green spotlight used to highlight her shone directly into our eyes so we were had a difficulty time watching her.
What a lovely experience. We're kama'aina and it's so refreshing to experience quality service, excellent food and a charming atmosphere here on the Big Island. The Auberge Mauna Lani is providing a needed upgrade to hospitality standards here. Thank you so much. We've already booked the Canoe House for another night.
It was the best meal of our trip. Our waiter was incredible and every dish was even better than the next. Such a special place!
Prompt greeting upon arrival. Immediately found and acknowledged the reservation. Seated efficiently. Wait person was at the table as soon as we were settled. The service throughout the dinner was courteous, warm and friendly. You felt the staff was genuinely happy we were there. Cocktails were creative and tasty. Ordered a charcuterie presentation to share during cocktails. Menu items were enthusiastically described. All entree’s were beautifully presented on hot plates. The items were all enjoyed. Pricing is a bit on the high side, even for a high-end resort. Portions were ample and delicious. A hula dancer accompanied a solo guitarist/vocalist. Subtle and very nice.
The menu is creative, fun, and original. We had the special for the night, a New York strip. The dish had amazing depth. This is not a restaurant that was an after thought. Beautiful setting, well executed service, and all the food was delightful. Highly, highly recommend
Lovely atmosphere. Fresh food well prepared. would go back to try different offerings.
We are long time owners of a home in the Mauna Lani Resort and have an Advantage card which is supposed to get a discount anywhere in the resort restaurants. This is NOT Kamaiaana which is for any person with a local ID. The restaurant staff just couldn't tell the difference, thus we were not allowed to use our resort card. We will probably not return.
I must say that for a relatively new restaurant the food was excellent and delicious so I highly recommend it. The redesigned space is so beautiful and the staff very attentive and professional. We will go back.
Our server was lovely, the tropical Manhattan & glass of Ca Zin were delish, loved the kampachi appetizer and fish stew with Kona lobster, fresh prawns and clams. The banana dessert was the perfect choice for us. It was an extra treat the music and the graceful dancer while we were dining. We picked to dine at sunset and were not disappointed. We will return
Flair, flavor, substance. Everything you want in a casual eatery that you're happy to eat at regularly. The service is relaxed enough to make us locals feel we're home while attentive enough to ensure tourists feel they're on vacation. The kitchen exhibits confident - and so far - consistent attention to detail. Chef's old boss - Jean-George V - would recognize the product. We'll be back.
Another fantastic evening at Halani. I took clients who had just closed on a home next door at Terraces and it was their first time to visit their neighbor. We enjoyed the 3 cheese Lobster pizza, appetizer and champagne to celebrate their purchase.
Our waiter Andy was amazing and catered to us and the celebration. The service and food is beyond 5 stars! I have been going there since they opened in mid January and tell all my family and friends.
Nightly music plays and it is a wonderful restaurant to watch the sunset and we even saw whales. How perfect is that?
Halani is an amazing dining experience. The service is professional, welcoming and knowledgeable. Not only is the resort itself absolutely beautiful, but the restaurant is situated in such a way that you can enjoy the sunset and the island breezes, while enjoying Hawaiian guitar and hula. The food was delicious, from the seasonal specialty of gnocchi with black truffle, to lobster 3-cheese pizza, to the scallops and Catalan Stew. Our server Adam was gracious and helpful. The wine list is exceptional and the manager and sommelier was very helpful in guiding you with recommendations and pairings. Wonderful dining experience. We will be back!
Food was just ok and quite expensive. But the ambiance is fabulous.
Excellent food and service. Very expensive with a charge for bread even when ordering salad and entree. The Ha bar is also crazy expensive for any premium liquor or even the nice well liquor. For $20 each it would be nice to have a complimentary bar mix available when requested, but nothing arrived when we asked
I have been to the Halani 6 times in the last 3 weeks. I love lunch and dinner there. It is exceptionally nice to watch the sun set. This last visit, we tried the Lobster, 3 cheese pizza and kale and avocado salad! Both were amazing! I can't wait to go back and have reservations for next Tuesday evening! I can't recommend it enough. Halanai has a menu that has something for everyone!
Good food - kitchen knows what it’s doing. Front of house is gracious and professional. Nice wine list. Great alternative to Canoe House.
We were staying at the hotel for a few days and were able to have dinner at Halani on Valentines Day. While the service times at the other restaurants need to be improved (I lay the blame on management not the servers) our dinner at Halani was wonderful. Service was quick, friendly and efficient while the food was delicious. We had a flatbread pizza to start, the crust was perfectly chewy and the top was glorious in cheese and garlic. My husband had the pasta which he enjoyed and I had the scallops. Mine was perfectly cooked and I would have licked the plate if it wasn’t considered rude.
An amazing atmosphere at the Muana Lani hotel. Beautiful setting. Food was fantastic. Service was excellent. Highly recommend.
Once you arrive, the hotel is one of the most beautiful hotels that we have seen. We were welcomed by the staff as we approached the restaurant This was a wonder dining experience. The live music was great and not too loud. The food was good and came on time, fresh, and well seasoned. I had the lamb chops which were delicious. We will definitely return on our next visit to the big island.
Great setting..food was superb and the service was outstanding
This was a great way to end our stay on the Kohala coast. A beautiful sunset, great Hawaiian guitar player and a dancer, exceptional service and freshest fish and seafood, our best find on the island in a 10-day recent trip. Mahalo!
Beautiful location. Great service. The food was mediocre and way overpriced. We are willing to pay for a “fine dining experience” however, this was meant to be casual and the food wasn’t that exceptional.
We live in the Mauna Lani resort and were so looking forward to what the newly renovated
resort/hotel would be offering in the way of restaurants.
Halani was a wonderful surprise and everything we ordered was terrific: lobster pizza,
kampachi (locally sourced right here on the Big Island), ahi appetizer and the scallops
The service was friendly and efficient and we are looking forward to returning soon.
Great service and food for our family of 6. We all enjoyed the lobster pizza and other dishes. There was a private luau going on so we got some nice music too.
I had the pleasure of dining at "Ha Lani" with a friend at the Mauna Lani Auberge Resorts Collection.
Our server let us know that the chef recommends family style dining, so we were able to order and sample a variety of the dishes on the menu.
We begin out meal with an order of the Winter Squash Pizza which included squash, local goat cheese and artichoke hearts along with a variety of other fresh veggies. Wow! We both loved it and the size was just right for an appetizer shared by two diners.
We then ordered the Grilled Eggplant Moussaka side dish to share. Neither of us had ever had Moussaka before but we enjoyed the dish and its seasoning which similar to shepherds pie but a more exotic spiced flavor.
One of us ordered the Trofi, a unique pasta dish with an arugula pesto sauce, baby green beans and a dollop of a light ricotta sauce on top.
The other ordered the Seared Diver Sea Scallops which was the best dish of the evening. The scallops were perfectly cooked with a great texture.
Finally, for dessert we shared an order of the Chocolate "Beet" Cake which came with a few beet chips and a lovely raspberry sauce and gel. Our only regret was that we didn't order two as it was so good!
We will definitely return for another meal with a larger party to try even more of the menu.
Food excellent Ambiance fantastic and amazing service by our waiter, Adam. Highly recommend
This is the second time my wife and I have eaten dinner at Halani. We ordered the lobster pizza, Catalan stew and the Parmesan chicken. All of the food was beautifully prepared, presented and tasty. The service, atmosphere and cocktails were outstanding. There was lovely live Hawaiian music. The menu items are moderately expensive, but reasonable considering the restaurants location and target clientele. Perhaps the management could consider offering a kama'aina discount (10% is common) in order to attract more local customers. Halani is certainly one of the best restaurants on the island.
This is such a beautiful and amazing restaurant at a stunning resort.
Beautiful spot, food was amazing. Unfortunately service was terrible. One blunder after another. Really dampened our special anniversary dinner. Waitress simply was not on top of her service. Disappointed.
We really enjoyed our dinner. Beautiful and delicious!
The beautiful, new Auberge Mauna Lani Hotel just opened last week. The hotel is a total remodeling of the old Mauna Lani Bay Hotel. First, the interior design of the Auberge is awesome, certainly as spectacular as the other 5 star property on the island (Four Seasons Hualalai). The new impressive Halani restaurant is located outside, near the new swimming pool and is ocean front. The cuisine is Mediterranean, cooked with local ingredients. The food, service and atmosphere are superb. There is also live music, performed on the lawn, immediately adjacent to Halani. Additionally, this lawn is a perfect place for children to play or dance after dinner. Halani is certainly one of the best restaurants in Hawaii. Ben, previously the manager at Merriman's, is the general manager and sommelier. And his wine list is one of the island's best.
Food was terrible. Too fancy for a casual/family place.
A great new space in a recently renovated resort. Definitely worthy of a repeat visit. An interesting and varied menu with great customer service.
Halani is rated 4.7 stars by 33 OpenTable diners.
