Hakkasan - New York Ratings and Reviews
Really disappointed in this place. I have consistently been seeing the service get worse and worse for this terrific place. The menu now doesn't have their fixed price brunch, which I adored and the lunch is less value at the same price. The food is excellent, though the new desserts are more pretty than they are tasty. The service is aweful, extremely slow, they forgot a few items that we realized later looking at the menu. When confronted the waiter asked "what do you want me to do about this?". We had to ask for the promised tea 4 times before it arrived after our dessert started melting. Again, the food and the decor/ambience is great and I love their bar....but it needs a strong operational manager to whip the service into shape.
I don't know where to begin. This establishment is a great example of an all around fabulous experience, from the entire staff, omg the food, service , Ambience. I'm already plotting my next visit. From the moment we arrived, till the moment we leave the staff was friendly, professional.
Very good restaurant with excellent service and terrific food. Great ambiance to the restaurant with understated elegance and mystery to its facade and layout. Exterior is simple with only a number identifier. Interior makes use of oblique lighting throughout including the restrooms to create a relaxing mood to the place. Highly recommend going to this one of only eleven in the world with the first in London.
The decor unique here, and it doesn't feel like a crowded NY restaurant. The food was very good - the Spicy Shrimp were in fact spicy and nuanced, the scallop was fresh and flavorful. I thought the portions were very small, especially for the encouraged sharing. We left not feeling satisfied even though small plates, entrees , sides, rice and dessert. The service was excellent - attentive, friendly and helpful.
An interesting restaurant. Atmosphere is rather like a night club rather than a dining room.
Very noisy dance music, so not suitable for a quiet romantic meal.
The family opposite us, were having to talk loudly to hear each other.
But as there are a number of Hakkasan restaurants around the world, they must be doing something right.
We chose the most expensive tasting menu, plus wine.
Food was tasty but was served at the same rate as the fast dance music. We had to ask for a break between the 3 starters and the main course.
The server, Alex, was very attentive and took time to explain the menu to us.
My daughter and I have eaten at Hakkasan both in London (Hanway Place) and NYC. Tonight we were going to an early show and only had an hour to eat and wanted appetizers and Peking Duck. Although it took some effort to get through to the restaurant (rather than the reservation line in Las Vegas) I was able to speak to the restaurant and placed our order for both appetizers and the Peking Duck ahead of time. As a result we were able to eat a relaxed meal and the food was, as always, absolutely superb. I was very impressed with this phenomenal service and the preparation of an expensive meal started before our arrival. A wonderful experience indeed.
Great place for pre-theater dinner, especially if you are going to the American Airlines Theater on 42nd Street. We sat at the bar before we were seated. Huge drink menu. Good cocktails. Had a mango bellini. Tasty. Started with the dumplings. We do not eat duck so they swaped out with shrimp. Very good. Also had sweet and sour soup and lettuce wraps. Both were delish. Had shrimp with tulips and a seafood noodle dish. Service was good. But pricey, but there are nor good restaurants around here. Would go back!
Hakksan is a stylish Chinese - inspired restaurant close to the Theater district off 8th Avenue. I have dined there repeatedly and the service was always very attentive. The food has a very good variety and is very tasty - try the XO duck if you like duck, it is excellent. The selection of drinks, in particular Champagne, is also very good - overall I can recommend this restaurant for a special dinner.
I had made a reservation for my son's birthday and we came from Florida on 8/18/17. Upon arrival, the host greeted us and knew about my son's birthday. He gave us a beautiful spot. Duck dishes were great. Dumplings are a must. Server was in a rush and had no clue about the menu choices when asked for recommendations. While waiting for my table went to the bar. Great lychee martini but male bartender had a poor attitude. No birthday wishes from the server or a little congrats.
Overall I'd have to say we enjoyed the food and ambiance. The staff not so much except for the host.
We had a lovely meal at Hakkasan. We had the 3 course set menu at $42 per person as part of New Yorks' restaurant week. The food was very good and the selection very good.
Only a couple of things that spoilt the meal, there was a hair in my pak choi, unfortunately we were sat underneath a very cold air conditioning unit and were freezing throughout the meal. Also the waiters were clearing our table whilst one of our party was still eating, which is quite annoying.
This is a beautiful restaurant, one that has high end features, such as marble walls, slate bathrooms etc. The drinks were great and the food was amazing. The special dim sum appetizer and the ribs were our starters. We then had spicy prawns, black pepper rib eye, seafood fried rice, vermicelli with mushrooms and udon with duck. Everything was flavorful and delicious. And the best part of all was our waiter Alex. He made suggestions of food choices, was friendly and interactive, and truly was all around a great addition to the atmosphere.
If you're looking for upscale Chinese and want to eat someplace extraordinary, choose Hakkasan.
Celebrated my wife's birthday at the restaurant. Made a note of this in the reservation and also called them ahead of time to remind them. However, had to send back the dessert and ask them to put a candle in it, and dessert was not complimentary. Food was decent but there are many good options out there, will think twice about visiting Hakkasan again.
