View Private Dining DetailsI understand that sometimes a maitre'd may run behind schedule on a busy Friday night. What I do not understand is why it is thought to be acceptable to run more than thirty minutes behind schedule and not offer so much as an update on when a table will be ready, or an apology (at the very least). In addition, whether it is the fault of the server or the kitchen, when there is a thirty minute lag between a first and second course, I would generally expect a manager to stop by the table and acknowledge the issue. Unfortunately, management seemed not to be present. As when a guest at the table next to mine hit a ceramic plate onto the ground (quite a bit of noise), and not one of the staff members within earshot came over to see what had happened. These service issues took away from what was a solid dining experience in terms of the food.
Dreadful meal, memorably terrible. Food was good but staff had no control over other tables (constantly banging into us, standing up and shouting right behind us and being fed more and more booze when they could have been asked to move to the bar). This was despite many promises to do something from the spineless manager who failed to deal with anybody’s issues in the section, and ultimately failed to comp anything from the check despite assurances he would.
Might be good on a Monday/Tuesday. Would certainly not wish our Friday evening experience on anyone. I will not be returning.
I love the Hakkasan!!!! Amazing food, fancy cocktails and great service!!!! I go there everytime when I am in New York!!! It’s just amazing
Phenomenal service! Fried dim sum platter was a little greasy but delicious. We had the Pipa duck was was so succulent, juicy and the skin was perfectly crispy. The lamb chops in XO sauce was extraordinary- perfectly cooked and so tender we literally cut them with a butter knife. The scallion egg fried rice with the XO sauce from the lamb was obscenely flavorful and just magical to eat. For dessert we had the coconut lime lychee plate with sorbet and granita... best dessert of my LIFE! Really this place is so hidden on 43rd street but beautiful and intimate inside. Completely worth every penny.
Delicious food and exceptional service. The steamed dim sum appetizer and grilled seabass main dish were my favorite from the tasting menu although everything was fresh, hot, and just sooo tasty.
My husband and I were in NYC and chose to dine at this restaurant because we had been once before and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We were not disappointed this occasion either. The restaurant is very attractive, the staff kind and accommodating, and the food doesn’t disappoint.
The prices need to be made less. It’s an amazing restaurant but the food prices need to be worked on.
Had a wonderful time. Food was excellent and wait staff were friendly.
Definitely not worth the cost. We had the tasting menu with truffle duck, cod, Brazilian lobster and veggies. The drinks are great but the food was not worth $168 per person. The dumplings in China Town were better and 1/10 the cost. Beautiful restaurant just not worth the cost.
Food Ambiacw and service were excv
Bit fancy but elegant Chinese. Would prefer a bit simpler
We were running late and they gave our table away. Made some excuse about how the computer bumped us after 15 mins, but we weren’t 15 mins late. Then they did nothing to make it up to us that evening. Didn’t leave us with a good feeling at all.
A really terrific Cantonese spot for pre and post theatre. We loved the space, the food was great, the service was top notch, and the staff is well-trained and professional.
The pika duck and the braised pork belly were outstanding
I'm so glad I made the reservation at Hakkasan for an anniversary/birthday date, after much internet searching for best Peking Duck restaurants in NYC. We ordered: dimsum platter (4 varieties, 2 of each), Peking Duck (half duck for $88 - NOT $38 as listed on OpenTable's menu), garlic peashoots, and panfried Shanghai dumplings. The Peking Duck was comparable to duck that I've had in Beijing with the right balance of juiciness and crispy skin, and the half-duck is plenty for 2 people. The dimsum platter was a unique twist on classic dimsum, and had high quality ingredients and craftsmanship, but was not worth the price in my opinion. Atmosphere and service was great - the hostess specifically held a corner booth for us. Overall vibe was modern, with dim blue lighting and design elements from traditional Chinese architecture. Would definitely recommend if your budget allows it.
Excellent, Excellent
Dining excellence: one of the finest wine lists, great food - especially the knock your socks off desserts and wonderful service.
Happened upon it searching for a nice lunch before show. it was excellent. food delicious and we are planning to return for dinner.
There was definitely great service and the food was high quality. However, we got the fried crab which did not sit well with me for the rest of the evening. It was an appetizer. The meal was delicious, I got the 3 mushroom stir fry, and the onion fried rice. The only other weird thing was the bathroom attendant who opened my stall and no other stall then smirked at me while watching me get out of the stall to wash my hands. No one else was in the bathroom which made this encounter extra weird.
Otherwise, I thought it was a nice restaurant with great service and good food.
This was my second visit, and it was even better than the last. The atmosphere is elegant - gorgeous wood and marble. The staff is attentive but not bothersome. The tableware is lovely. And the FOOD.... oh my! The pumpkin duck puffs are a thing of artistry. The cocktails are divine. Every item was beautifully prepared and tasty. This is an expensive meal, but it is worth it.
Superb service from start to finish, the hostess also ordered us an uber via her own phone. The waiter and bar staff were outstanding.
Food is stunning.
Fantastic service, wait staff answered any questions we had and made sure everything was perfect for us. The seabass was incredible; we got it as part of one of the signature menus, I would definitely order this again from the A La Carte menu. Look forward to dining there again
Expensive!!!
Nothing special for easter
The soft shell crab small plate was delicious, the Peking duck tasty, the udon noodles were very greasy and chicken fried rice bland.
The decor and atmosphere create such a cool vibe that, along with great food, cocktails and a wide ranging wine list makes it a special experience every time. One of our faves!
Came in after a show with my three older children. We arrived after a show. Minute we sat down we were rushed. Arrived at 10:15. Why take reservations if you are going to rush customers through. Kitchen closed at 11. That should have been plenty of time. Waiter was rude. Food was Luke warm at best, rushed out, and tasted like prepared hours earlier. I’ve dined here, and at other Hakkasan’s several times. Always been a special treat. This was simply unacceptable. It was so bad - the waiter encouraged to get dessert elsewhere as he had to go. Could have had better food at a corner Chinese restaurant. Can’t spend that kind of money for this. I’m so disappointed. Also, no one, was kind. Not a smilie from anyone who worked there. Must be a pretty bad place to work.
Poor quality, super overpriced. Fails on every account: bad food, ridiculous prices, cheesy atmosphere and mediocre service. Save your money and go somewhere else
Topnotch service, amazing Chinese fare.
Fine cuisine and excellent service from the waitress!
Would have appreciated if the table was in the corner or so. Lacked privacy
Excellent food expensive but delicious and in heart of theater district
Food very disappointing for the price. Could have gotten the same at a good neighborhood place.
this was sensational for a pre theater lunch. Food was excellent, not too expensive, ambience lovely, and service efficient.
Excellent in every way
The meal and cocktails were delicious. The service was outstanding including the coat check woman, the hostesses, the waitress and the bus persons. The waitress in particular was wonderdul - attentive, efficient and kind. We had a lovely evening.
A great alternative to the Times Square mediocre restaurants. Delicious, creative Asian cuisine, knowledgeable, friendly staff and a hip decor/ambiance.
Terrific food -- THe bok choy was great. The fried Szechuan dumplings were very good but not superb. The curry shrimp was succulent and lovely. The pipi duck was excellent.
Waiter- very helpful!
Drinks were the best part!!
