Hakkasan - New York Ratings and Reviews
Good food, meticulous preparation and service. The dishes were uneven however, some excellent, some just okay. Pretty much everything is prepared to be shared. Unique decor, otherworldly, spa-like, and as different as can be from the grimy street it is on. The attitude was very snooty. The response to saying we were ready to order was "I'll inform your waiter" as if we were supposed to have noted who was serving from the bar, who was serving wine, who was pouring water, who was supposed to take our order. There is nothing quite so off-putting as being treated as somehow inferior by the people waiting on you. Also, when I called for a last-minute reservation, I was told they could work me in but there was only a fifteen-minute window and after that the reservation would be cancelled. What a laugh. The place remained nearly empty the entire time we were there. The large and beautiful bar area never had a single person in it, and the several rooms had only a few occupied tables each. Given the expense, I prefer less snobishness and self-importance, better food, and more polite service.
Man... so upsetting! The drinks and dessert were AMAZING! But the food? Horrible. I don’t know if it was an off night or because they’ve been there too long, it just was not up to par. Mr Chows, Phillippe, and Tao blow Hakksan out the water. Not worth the price and the Food was just ok. The only thing besides dessert and drinks that was good was the fried rice, but not worth a $500 bill. It was great for $10 rice.
The waiter pushed us to order more than we could eat. The food were greasy and unauthentic. We've been to many Michelin-starred restaurants around the world, and Hakkasan is one of the greatest disappointments. Overall a terrible experience & would tell my friends to avoid this restaurant.
Reserved a table for four persons 3 months in advance as this was new years eve. While ordering our food specifically informed waiter that our orders should be separate as one of us does not tolerate fish. Ordered chicken fried rice for main course but they served fish fried rice. No apology was given - food abruptly removed and waiter scolded the person like a 5 year old "you should have informed me" and handed the menu for a new order !
Do you realize the consequences of serving fish products to a person who is allergic ?? Understand that mistakes can be made but no apology is completely unacceptable. When bill arrived only the "chicken fried aka fish fried rice" had been removed. Prompted our waiter for apology and only then got a worthless "sorry". Our bill ran for +400 USD but we will never be dining there again needless to say.
The food was outstanding. The service was good but the server took a very long time to take our order. They made up for it by paying very close attention after that and this redeemed themselves .
The crispy duck was certainly one of the best I have ever had !
Didn’t meet my expectations. I had been twice before at Hakkassan Miami and thought that since this was their “New York” was going to be better than Miami ‘s but the food was pretty average. Not a flavor to remember. The service was very kind though. But For me it was a “Very expensive PF Chang meal” nothing more.
Service and food was excellent. My only criticism is to tone down or eliminate entirely the incense -- it hits you in the entry vestibule and continues throughout the restaurant. It overpowers the food and drinks and is very distracting (especially if you don't care for an incense smell). I understand the need for the Asian vibe, but the food, decor, and ambiance speak for themselves.
My husband and I frequently dine at the Hakkasan in Miami Beach where the food and service are impeccable. Our experience today at the NYC location did not disappoint on the food aspect but the service was pretty terrible. The restaurant was severely affected understaffed. It took a long while to receive our food. We never received our tea until mid way through the meal and then they gave us a different flavor than what we ordered because they said they ran out of the flavor we selected. Turns out the one they brought us was more expensive but they didn't bother to share that until the bill came. The busboy was barely around to refill our water or clear the table. All in all a disappointing experience.
Service was very slow. We told them we had a show to go to. We had to ask someone to take our order. Then we had to have them check on the food. Two dishes came undercooked which the took back and subtracted from the menu but it doesn't make for a great dining experience.
I celebrated my birthday here last night and we all had a wonderful time. I was running a bit late and was able to move my reservation back 45 mins w/o a problem. We sat by the bar as my party of 6 arrived one by one. Bartenders were very nice and attentive. Drinks were great but pricey (expected at a restaurant such as this). Food over all was pretty good. One chicken dish we didn’t like too much and sent it back (which was taken off the bill). Overall a great dining experience and we will return in the future.
