Expensive but the food and the ambience absolutely live up to it. The specialty cocktails are outstanding as well. Good options for fans of both spicy and non-spicy food. Dumplings fantastic.
Great time for Chinese New Years great food great drinks
Came for Chinese New Year, as in the past. The place rocked with 2 dragons, drums and great food! Best updated Chinese dishes in New York.
Hakkasan is the most perfect place to celebrate Chinese New Year. The Year of the Rat menu was especially wonderful this year.
Special kudos to the highly symbolic red chili dusted chocolate ganache knot dessert. This very memorable dessert has been on my mind since we ate it. Eating the red chili slice is like a chili firecracker exploded in my mouth. It perfectly symbolized the firecrackers going off for Lunar New Year celebration. I have had so much fun deciphering the meaning of every aspect of this dessert.
I look forward to seeing the Lion Dance next year at Hakkasan!
Excellent Experience in New York for Chinese Fine Dining. Came in for Chinese New Year. The service, the food, the atmosphere, the specialty cocktails were all exceptional. Superior dining experience!!!!
Waiter acted “ too smart” in answering our questions or orders not enough attention
Outstanding ambiance, uneven food, overpriced menu. The interior is gorgeous and worth a visit just for that. Some dishes were nice - shanghai dumplings, noodles, an amazing lemon dessert. However, most menu items we tried (4 people) weren't above average yet grossly overpriced. Dim sum basket with 8 nice-looking dumplings was priced at 30 dollars, a small-cubed overspiced and overcooked steak entree was 40 I believe, completely unwarranted. Duck salad was good but a tad too sweet, and many items were too sweet. A man at the table next to ours tried a $40 Chilean seabass and told the erver , when asked, that he did not like it. So come for the ambiance, order the duck salad and noodles and the desserts.
The food took way too long to serve. They came sporadically over 1.5 hours and we had to cancel two dishes or we would have to stay for 2 hours. No one came to advise us of the delay nor did we receive any apologies from management.
Lovely ambiance, food, and service. Highly recommend this for whatever the occasion and even for everyday dining.
This worst dining experience started with the most unprofessional and impolite front desk...they literally wanted an elderly person to sit on a high top chair...please do not go to this place for Chinese food, it’s not worth it at all. Yelp some better spots in lower Manhattan.
always a great time and drinks and food is always amazing!
Food and service both excellent. Portions moderate. Prices high.
Duck salad and lemon dessert both outstanding.
We have used Hakkasan as a "go to" restaurant in the theatre district close to 10 times. Ambiance, wine list and usually the food and service make it a dining experience. However, this time we were disappointed as one of four in the group do not receive the correct order and one dish was not a tasty as the others that were shared by three. The other dish came afterwards as one watched the others eat. Of course we will go back as we are hopeful all will be exemplary again. Interesting though, we were not offered a complimentary drink or dessert due to the error.
Great food and location near broadway. Wait staff was efficient but not friendly
Always a place I visit in the city. Never dissatisfied.
Amazing. Just hit all the notes! The pastry chef is especially talented and makes fantastic desserts
Food was excellent and the cocktails were well made although one was not to our liking. Staff was very responsive to this feedback and brought an alternative cocktail. Venue is very nice inside - well decorated and tries to convey a sense of intimacy for each party. However the space is still open and therefore inherently noisy, especially when it is crowded. Overall service was great, as was the food. Would definitely dine there again.
Great food with wonderful service from our waiter and a delightful sommelier
All was good except for the spicy prawns which seemed undercooked and caused some stomach issues the next day
This place is not for business dining anymore.
Service is very different from what it used to be last year. Poor management; front reception, inexperienced floor staff and food quality down (sanitation) a long hair in appetizer.
It used to be my favorite place. I won’t visit there again in New York.
Birthday weekend in NYC. Wanted dim sum and this looked unusual. Loved the tea selection. The vegetarian dim sum basket was good and the wild mushroom lettuce wraps very good. Salt and pepper squid was light but lacked flavor. The eggplant clay pot and noodles were a great combination. They surprised me with a lovely bite of a lemon and coconut dessert with a candle. Sweet.
We had a great meal the table we requested to be seated in quieter area was granted. The servers were very attentive and helpful with the menu. We never felt rushed stayed for close to three hours. The food was very very good and the desserts - I’ll keep thinking of! You should go for sure!
The cocktails are amazing and worth the price of admission. The ambiance is lovely. The food is okay---i expect a bit more for the prices---kind of bland, not that interesting in terms of the choices, and to make everything a la carte seems a bit steep---like include some veggies in some of the dishes so you don't have to spend up on mains, rice/noodles, AND veggies. i don't think it's the best value.
We went pre theatre so it was empty.
Ordered a lychee martini. They gave lychee nectar on the side with a lychee garnish so I could put as much or as little nectar as I wanted. Loved that.
Very attentive professional staff. All willing to assist.
The Peking duck two ways is so amazing. The pancakes thin as paper. Duck has crispy skin. But meat still has some fat so it is not dry.
The dick with XO sauce is also worth it.
Yes it is expensive. But you get what you pay for.
Will be back but not to soon.$$$$
Reliably great food! A little pricey but excellent food and service.
Pleasant and elegant
First family vacation
Hors de prix pour ce que ç est
Bonne nourriture mais injustifiée au niveau du tarif
Not as good quality or menu as other restaurants in london, dubai or Abu Dhabi.
The ambiance gave a cool clubfeeling without being noisy at all, and we had an super dinnerexperience. The waitresses were smiling and attentive, and the food outstanding. Best Chinese food I've had.
Had dinner with 11 people and had an amazing time, food was excellent, especially the Peking Duck. Great service and friendly staff. Definitely will be back
Food is amazing and so is the ambience.. great dining experience
The food wasn't worth its value, this place might have been a hit before but it's overrated now. The interior is worn out, the music is too loud. The only good thing was the service but that doesn't make me want to return.
The dumplings were divine and beautiful. Ribs were perfect. Great service. Great cocktails. Dark and louder than I like.
We are frequent diners at Hakkasan Las Vegas which has always been outstanding, and this is our third time at the NY location. To be quite honest this was a very disappointing experience. We chose Hakkasan tonight bc we felt it was an experience we could count on to be of high standard. The service was not what we are used to. We had to seek out ordering a second drink when we had been with out a drink for the entire appetizer course. Dinner arrived and we had to wait five minutes for our rice dish to arrive so it made us wait to eat the entree. Should have waited to bring everything at once. Throughout the dinner our glasses were empty until dessert time when they were finally refilled. It’s as if no one cared about us. These simple gestures allow you to know someone is paying attention to your dining experience. We ordered the chicken clay pot dinner which came and the chicken had skin and lots of fatty tissue. It was not at all appetizing. Hakkasan has been a long time favorite - just read our numerous past reviews. We realized tonight that the NY location is not at all the same caliber as Las Vegas, even down to the lack of variety offered on the menu. We did express our feelings about the chicken dish and the waiter graciously removed it from the bill which was appreciated. Sorry for the semi-negative review, but just have to be honest. We are New Yorkers. And dining in the NY location you feel like just a number. The prices charged would lead one to believe the experience would be exemplary.
I've dined at the original Hakkasan at Hanway Place in London and loved it. When I decided to visit New York at Christmas, I wanted to experience Hakkasan in Midtown. A slightly different feel (London's is glossy black with whimsical Chinese architectural and design elements; New York's is a bit brighter), but certainly as energetic an vibe. The real standout was the Peking duck. OMG: the best Peking duck I've ever had. I'd return just to have that again!!
