Space is beautiful and calming. Staff is exceptional. Food is fine, but way too expensive for what it is. Great Theater District dining is rare. This is one of the better choices near theaters, just be prepared to pay for sweet and sour pork.
lack of follow up and pacing was deficient --could have been much better --both of the guests thanked me for dinner but were disappointed --
If you're not experienced to fine dining, you might think the portions are small. Overall experience is great, delicious food and relaxing atmosphere. The waitress did good job tio
Absolutely excellent as always!
Wonderful and creative ... as well as beautiful. Takes a couple of visits to understand the menu ... but servers and bar tenders do know well.
The only real issue is the small (measured) drinks ... and the very high price ....the small issue a bigger issue than the price ... seems unlike the balance of the overall experience.
Love the ambience there and they’re great at getting you out for theater. Menu has changed a bit and some dishes (dim sum basket, stir fried chicken)were disappointing. All very $$$.
Celebrating my wife's birthday, they surprised her with a wonderful desert. Loved this place
Beautifully restaurant with good service, BUT it feels like a rip off!
I went there with my wife for Valentine's dinner. We were offered a Valentine Prix Fix menu. I had my concerns about the Prix fix menu, but we ended up ordering from that and it was ninety-something dollars for a person. The food we got was very mediocre for the price but most importantly the portion sizes were super small. I'm not expecting American diner oversized portions in here! We go to high-end restaurants all the time and understand what to expect from a place like that! Here the sizes were not adequate for 2 adults!
For an appetizer we got crispy duck roll, 2 rolls - and that's not two full rolls, that was two sashimi like pieces with duck over rice. Two of them for two adults! The duck was overcooked and the rice was over-fried by the way! Then there was a famous supreme dim sum basket. 8 super small pieces! It tasted ok but I ate a better dim sum! For the main course, we had Land and See, with wagyu ribeye and lobster tail. This was supposed to be for two people. The ribeye was good but 8 thin slices. The lobster tail was good as well, but again it was super small, probably from the one-pounder lobster. As a side, they gave us mustard leaves salad. I was allergic to mustard and tolled it to the waitress but she was trying to convince me that mustard leaves and mustard that I'm allergic to are two different things, not realizing that mustard is made out mustard plant! So I could not eat that! To summarize the main course was good but supper small for two adults! We also ordered vegetable fried rice for the side, surprisingly the Prix fix menu didn't include it. The rice was really good, and a good portion size. So basically the only thing we really liked in this restaurant was the rice!!!! We enjoyed the desert as well. But the overall experience was pretty bad. If you go here, DO NOT ORDER FROM PRIX FIX MENUS!
Great food in an exquisite setting. However, they have an irritating policy of sending you to wait in their bar area even when you have a confirmed reservation and all members of your party are present.
Food was good, not great. You expect great for what we paid.
Expensive but very good meal
The waitress was spectacular and the food was extremely tasty
We went to Hakkasan for a lunch on Sunday before a show. We ordered 1 dimsum basket, 1 vegetarian dimsum basket, and Hakka noodle. We also ordered 2 cocktails (The Hakka, flower and stone) and a dessert. Cocktails were amazing, especially The Hakka. Foods were very good and the black sesame and chocolate dimsum dessert was very nice! Loved this place and will definitely visit again.
Very wonderful experience. The food presentation and taste terrific.
It was beyond our expectations.
What a beautiful restaurant! The food was excellent, drinks deeeelicious. Loved the atmosphere.
We were celebrating a birthday and everything was fabulous! Delicious festive cocktails. Amazing and creative dishes. Our server Sandra F was lovely! We’ll definitely be back!
We love Hakkasan NYC and have dined there many times since it opened. We have enjoyed great food, amazing drinks and knowledgeable servers. Our last few visits have been increasingly disappointing. Fewer cocktails and this last visit, the fried dim sum and a beef with merlot sauce were history. This dinner was more important because it was for business and we were concerned that our guests were unhappy. Plus the service was poor, so we were very uncomfortable hosts.
Pretentious Chinese restaurant with boring food. The dim sum were great. The rest, mediocre. I had to ask for soy sauce twice; virtually no flavor in most of the food. And expensive too.
The food, service and ambiance are all perfection. Try to go off hours for a quiet dining experience.
Front desk needs to sort out there seating system. We checked in with a lovely gist at the front desk but the manager that sat us made us wait until he had sat three groups behind us before then seating us. Rather than ask who we were he simply sat the other groups and the girl behind the desk sat us. She was embarrassed whilst he did not give a damn. I was tempted to leave at that point.
Such a disappointing first impression when all my previous experiences with Hakkasan in New York and London Hanway Place have been stellar.
The half peking duvk is too small and comes with insufficient pancakes... But the food is amazing and the wait staff is very helpful and kind
Best rice in the world! The noodles are great as well. 👌🏼
What a pleasant surprise. Everything was excellent. We had a sampling menu. Everything was delivered hot and on time! The dessert was particularly good. Exceptional!
Excellent pre-theater dinner!
My chicken was actually frozen. We told the waiter and he did nothing.
The food is always outstanding here. And consistent. And yummy. Go for the dim sum and clay pot stuff. Won’t be disappointed. And the desserts are the bomb. Go for the Hakkasan signature stuff.
A bit noisy. Very expensive.
Always great adventurous food and cocktails.
I have to say the place was amazing decor. Waiter could of been happier.. The sweet & sour soup was amazing. Steamed dumpling where incredible. I got lobster as my main dish. Which was presented in shell there was no shell crackers. It was superbly cooked until I found a black hair! That was me done. On letting waiter know he immediately cleared he apologised & asked if I would like another dish. As did management. Unfortunately that has put me completely of. As this restaurant is a Michelin star Chinese restaurant! I Question completely How this could happen...
Expensive but the food and the ambience absolutely live up to it. The specialty cocktails are outstanding as well. Good options for fans of both spicy and non-spicy food. Dumplings fantastic.
Great time for Chinese New Years great food great drinks
Came for Chinese New Year, as in the past. The place rocked with 2 dragons, drums and great food! Best updated Chinese dishes in New York.
Hakkasan is the most perfect place to celebrate Chinese New Year. The Year of the Rat menu was especially wonderful this year.
Special kudos to the highly symbolic red chili dusted chocolate ganache knot dessert. This very memorable dessert has been on my mind since we ate it. Eating the red chili slice is like a chili firecracker exploded in my mouth. It perfectly symbolized the firecrackers going off for Lunar New Year celebration. I have had so much fun deciphering the meaning of every aspect of this dessert.
I look forward to seeing the Lion Dance next year at Hakkasan!
Excellent Experience in New York for Chinese Fine Dining. Came in for Chinese New Year. The service, the food, the atmosphere, the specialty cocktails were all exceptional. Superior dining experience!!!!
Waiter acted “ too smart” in answering our questions or orders not enough attention
Outstanding ambiance, uneven food, overpriced menu. The interior is gorgeous and worth a visit just for that. Some dishes were nice - shanghai dumplings, noodles, an amazing lemon dessert. However, most menu items we tried (4 people) weren't above average yet grossly overpriced. Dim sum basket with 8 nice-looking dumplings was priced at 30 dollars, a small-cubed overspiced and overcooked steak entree was 40 I believe, completely unwarranted. Duck salad was good but a tad too sweet, and many items were too sweet. A man at the table next to ours tried a $40 Chilean seabass and told the erver , when asked, that he did not like it. So come for the ambiance, order the duck salad and noodles and the desserts.
The food took way too long to serve. They came sporadically over 1.5 hours and we had to cancel two dishes or we would have to stay for 2 hours. No one came to advise us of the delay nor did we receive any apologies from management.
Perfect setting for two that features a taste for all food lovers.
Lovely ambiance, food, and service. Highly recommend this for whatever the occasion and even for everyday dining.
This worst dining experience started with the most unprofessional and impolite front desk...they literally wanted an elderly person to sit on a high top chair...please do not go to this place for Chinese food, it’s not worth it at all. Yelp some better spots in lower Manhattan.
