Hakkasan - New York

Not the same level as the ones in London. Food quality was average, presentation is sloppy.
Great place for Chinese food in French setting with great wine and cocktail menus! Food is delicious, but you probably can find in chinatown cheaper, but not with the decor, ambiance and service! Totally worth it!
Wonderful food elegantly served. We had dumplings followed by lobster and Peking duck. A california Merlot complemented the dishes. One wish though for softer and lower music.
PO Nystrom, sweden.
The Chinese New Year dinner was fantastic. creative, great presentation, extraordinarily fresh ingredients, and fantastic service.
wish they could someday return to being a 1-star Michelin. they deserve it
Great environment and decors, but the food is extremely overpriced because the food tastes below average. I would rather go to any other Cantonese restaurant in Chinatown than this.
I love Hakkasan, Iv been to the London ones several times, and this New York restaurant once before. Always great, servers helpful and well trained. The only issue I had this time round was the fine line of clinical service and allowing a relaxing experience to be crossed. Plates were being cleared the second there was only a scrap gone by support staff who seemed to be doing so under orders to keep everything very tidy but when you’re trying to eat it can be very off-putting. Seems to be someone there when you didn’t want them too but never when you needed a drink etc.
I think this is just a preference thing more than anything else.
Hakkasan in New York continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in the city. It is located close to the Theater district . The contemporary Asian-Chinese food is excellent, it has a great champagne and wine selection and there is very attentive service - I have always had a great experience.
Great place to grab a bite before a Broadway show, especially if you are looking for non-traditional Italian/American cuisine in the area. Cocktails are always a delight here and the tea selection is on point.
Food was amazing!!!! I loved the vegetable dim sum.
Chilean Sea Bass with Honey is a most have! I really enjoyed the lemon pot dessert.
Over priced and not worth it The rice was cold and even when reheated was cold. They try to think they are upscale but don't make it.
The food was excellent but service was somewhat slow. I was surprised at the extra charge for a tiny cube of dessert.
Worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant at this level. Unfortunately service ruined the experience we will certainly never return and would recommend others avoid this restaurant.
The service was severely lacking, especially for this price point. It was 45 minutes before we were asked for a drink order. The only exception was the gentleman on water duty. The food was delicious, however.
Excellent Peking duck especially for not being in Beijing. Our server, Derick was incredible.
Love this place. The Food is excellent and the cocktails are magnificent. It’s pricy so Expect to spend at least $120 for dinner including appetizers and drinks.
Lovely ambiance. The dim sum were a visual delight. The staff made our birthday celebration an event to remember. A thank you to all!
Waiter was helpless. Food was so so. Been a customer when you first open your first place in London.
Will be a return customer
Great food but service not attentive and music a little louder than would like
Unfortunately the long , long wait between courses and poor service in general detracted from an otherwise lovely experience
Wonderful treat being there on the Chinese New Year. Very festive atmosphere complete with dragon. Restaurant failed to consider that patrons spend more time than usual dining on this special occasion but the inconvenience of a very long wait to be seated was forgiven and forgotten when we were graciously comped wine and appetizer at the bar while we waited. The salt and pepper squid was tender and notable for the lightness of the batter; the jasmine pork ribs , hakka noodles and hakka pork belly all delicious. The pre-ordered, beautifully presented Peking duck (unfortunately not carved at the table) was as good as any I have had in the States - tender and meaty, the skin light and crispy, - although the pancakes were a bit thick. An excellent dining experience, worth repeating on a less noisy, less crowded night.
Food was delicious but took a long time to come. The service was a little off as well...server wasn’t very attentive and couldn’t describe dishes well. But will definitely come back.
Food is good. The front table makes you feel like you owe her money.
We went there for Chinese New Year. But the lady at the front-desk really disappointed me.
I’ve been to Hakkasan in Miami for many times. But this time is the worst. I had a reservation at 8:45, and we arrived at around 8:40. At first, The lady asked me to wait at the bar until all 4 of my friends arrived. BUT, the truth was we were all standing right in front of her!!! So I told her we’re all here. And she said she would checked availability. So we just waited for her at the front-desk. But the lady didn’t check our table at all, she just kept on helping other customers. After she helped two other customers, I couldn’t help but asking her about our table. She asked me what my name was, like she just saw me... I felt so disappointed because we were waiting for her right in front of her for a while and she just ignored us for whatever reason....
Although the food is fine, we’ll never go there again.
Chinese new year’s eve dinner — we sat in bar area for dinner.
Kudos to hostess in blue dress with small nose ring for being so gracious.
The steamed dim sum platter was way undercooked as our starter.
The pan seared dumplings were very tasty and cooked perfectly.
Our next course — lettuce wraps — was inedible. Far too spicy with loads of pepper and spice.
The chicken in clay pot tasted like bland rubber.
The chicken fried rice was very good.
This experience was far different from past visits to Hakkasan. Very disappointed. Perhaps it was due to being busy for the Chinese holiday.
Service was slow as restaurant was too busy for her to handle all the guests and bartender was overwhelmed.
We came for the Chinese New Year menu. It was awesome! I'm amazed by chef's creativity. Good combination of modern and traditional Chinese flavour.
Made it clear it was a birthday. They put us in a worst tiny table possible in the middle of multiple groups. Also they used to provide a dessert or something for bday celebration, but this time even after I asked the waiter gave me a puzzled face - ‘no we never do anything like that. If you want a candle we can put on the dessert you order...’ No thanks, Hakkasan’s good old days are gone. Ambiance still good, but tons of comparable options in NYC.
Food is pretty good but the service is not satisfying
I left my cellphone in the restaurant and the staff contacted me to retrieve it. Greatly appreciated.
Service is bad. Food is so-so in the restaurant week menu. It's not genuine Chinese food in my opinion.
Wonderful decor and ambiance as you enter, marred only by an arrogant and palpably rude front hostess who appears to suffer from the delusion that admission to the restaurant is her specific prerogative . Comfortable and friendly environment exuding faux chic. Very slow service due to an obvious imbalance ratio of servers to clients. Dim sum lunch superb but some dishes cold and as consequence glutinous, due to inadequate number of waiters. No organization as to the timing of the food which appeared randomly at 2 mins to 10 mins intervals . Service persons helpful and delightful when they were available. Complete absence of oversight persons to manage food and beverage timing and delivery to the table. If you have a lot of time to waste or brought a volume of Proust to read, this is the place where intermittently a specific dish will delight you but devastate your credit card.
The service was sporadic at best. We didn’t receive our drink for 30 minutes and our meal took even longer even though the restaurant was half full. They forgot the second half of our meal and I’m not sure we ever got all the food from the Dim Sum lunch. The dim sum was delicious and very pretty, but not worth the poor service.
My favorite spot, great food, ambience and service.
The quality of the food is so poor compare to Hakkasan London... very disappointing.
Had to wait 25mins for our table and after that another 25mins for the server
I forgot our servers’s name, but she was amazing. Black mod 40’s female, maybe a British/Caribbean accent? Not sure, wish I got her name. She recommended everything we ate and they were amazing. Apart from the delicious food she was super attentive. It was a 10 star service from her and I eat out almost every night. She had several tables, but i felt like we were her only table. And I feel everyone else did too. I had to tip her more, because it was just amazing. I never write a review, but for this is just had to.
The hostesses had the worst attitude, she ruined our night
It's a beautiful restaurant. This is my fourth times there. I wish they will cut down the smell of the incense at the entrance, I was choked by it. Food presentation & tasting were good.
The food was quite tasty although not extraordinary relative to the price. For example, sauteed snow pea shoots at $22 a plate seems excessive, given that they really are just snow pea shoots. The hvac system was a bit breezy so it meant that our food got cold very quickly which was a shame. The cocktails were unique and the food was well prepared. Our servers were fine, although we inexplicably were made to wait about 15 to 20 minutes to be seated and there were plenty of open tables around us when we were seated, so I couldn't see the reason for the wait. The hostess' were not particularly welcoming. There were also very few Asian diners in the restaurant, so I think that speaks for the price and the location. Overall a pleasant experience but I probably will not return unless invited out on someone's large corporate expense account.
This was a real treat. The food is delicious. Very good portions. The service was unobtrusive. I love this restaurant. So happy I got to experience it with the restaurant week menu. Very nice selection. They even had some wine suggestions that were reasonable. Love the atmosphere. The bar is also a lot of fun.
This was not our first time in this restaurant. We went for a restaurant week lunch. The preset menu was imaginative, and all our dishes were excellent, as was the service. The cocktails are also outstanding - the strawberry ginger Bellini is fantastic, and if you are doing drink free January, then all their non-alcoholic cocktails are delicious and beautiful. If you like to end your meal with a light desert, then go with the exotic but delicious sorbets. This not the least expensive place in town, but it is a great place for lunch, dinner or drinks with friends. They have a great bar as well. Do go - you will not be disappointed.
