What Insiders Are Saying
There are plenty of places to get ramen in DC, but Haikan is doing it a bit differently. Try it for a casual dinner next time you're in Shaw.
We cannot say enough good about Haikan, which has been one of our favorites for the last year or two. The ramen is the best we've had in DC (and we've tried a number of the top places), the service is great, and a dinner for a family of 3 does not break the bank. We also love the energetic, youthful, accepting vibe -- although it trends towards a 20/30-something clientele, we're in our late 40s and never feel out of place. A nice bonus is the terrace when the weather is nice. A must try!
The food was delicious. We were seated right away, and the service was top notch. I love ramen, and look forward to my return!
I went with some friends and got there before our reservation time. The people were so nice and seated us then so we didn’t have to wait. The service was great and everyone was very friendly. The food was amazing and I would recommend this to all of my friends
They got our order wrong twice and ended up bringing out two of the same order and charging us for it. The atmosphere is nice and the food is ok but nothing impressive.
Love this place- great ramen
My order- Spicy shoyu w/spice bomb and egg
I usually get the pork belly or poutine- decided to go with the wings.
Thought my wings Appetizer was underwhelming, but they were pretty cheap so it didn’t affect my meal.
I’ve been to Haikan several times, and it’s always been an overall great experience! Yummy food, great service and a convenient location.
Great food, friendly waitstaff. And here are some extra characters for my review.
Such a great place! When they open the wall to the outside it is just so nice to have a drink and some ramen! Plus their happy hour is awesome
Loved the inside-outside feel of this place. Appetizer portions are small but food was amazing! Highly recommend
Great ramen! I had the Shoyu and my partner had the spicy shoyu. The flavor profiles of the broth were complex and rich; highlight of the dish. The noodles were soft and chewy. As an appetizer we split the fried calamari, which was OK, and the portion size was small. Great happy hour drink specials for those looking for a refereshing beverage on a hot summer day without breaking the bank! I would recommend! However I prefer the company's other two ramen locations to Haikan.
Best ramen I've had in DC! And at a great price / portion size. I was getting really tired of paying too much money for a bowl of ramen I could never finish. The small bowl was perfect.
Great fun food, very casual, fun server
Appetizer portions were really small for sharing. Alcohol was semi-decent. Shoyu ramen was good.
Great time with friends. Service was outstanding and patient with first-timers even on a Friday night. Highly recommended
The shoyu ramen is absolutely amazing and I very much enjoyed the Regina George cocktail. Service was great. All around an enjoyable experience
The ramen is delicious. Vegetarian options are extremely limited.
I’m not a vegetarian, but Haikan’s vegetarian ramen is just so good that it’s one of my favorite restaurants in DC!
Lively. Ramen is on par with Daikaya but with additional food options.
Great place and the food was greaat. Our server gave us great ideas and describe the menu very well. WIll definetly return.
Amazing flavors + friendly service + casual fun ambiance + yummy cocktails = great experience and definitely coming back
The ramen was so delicious. I just wish the portion size for the small plates were available in bigger sizes.
Always my favorite!
I love this place have eaten here a few times. It's a nice place with great food and great prices.
I absolutely love Haikan I have gone there on several occasions and it’s great every time!
Best broth I’ve had in ramen anywhere. Delicious and affordable. Everything I’ve tried on the menu is amazing. Staff is attentive and awesome! Crave it all week
Went twice noe before shows at 930. They had us in and out in time for the sjow, with good food at a not bad price for DC.
If you don't like noisy restaurants, go when it's nice weather and sit outdoors. Inside is pulsing, but outside is moderate. The service is outstanding and makes good recommendations from the menu. The ramen is top-notch, with rich broth that's far more than just a way to keep the noodles warm, and a lot of options for "customizing." Oh, and, while it may sound weird, try the poutine!
Haikan always satisfies with their amazingly tasty ramen. Service is however, mediocre or disappointing on most days.
Spicy ramen, omg, I could eat it everyday. They changed the sauce for the calamari, didn’t like it as much, but still good!
Sit at the bar/counter - the Shio ramen is excellent.
Superb cold ramen salad.
Had dinner with a close friend with our two four year olds. The food was great, and they even had simpler fare for the kids. The service was patient and attentive, even when our kids started dancing in the walkway.
First time ramen eater and it was amazing!!!!
Really good ramen! The spicy vegetable ramen was phenomenal. Really interesting side dishes as well!
I love the food and the service. The flavours are consistent and the service so good :)
Ate here prior to a show at the 930 Club.. easy, convenient, and delicious!
One of my favorite restaurants in DC. The Ramen is amazing, the staff is friendly and it never disappoints. I strongly recommend !!!
My boyfriend and I decided to get dinnwr here before a show and it was absolutely amazing!
Loved this place!!! Omg can’t wait to go back!! Food incredibly awesome. Service wonderful
The prices are good. The food is pretty good. We had the wings and crab Rangoon. We also had the Shoyu ramen ...it was just ok. This was my first time trying ramen. I’ll try a different variety next time.
