Habitat Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Chateaubriand for 2 was lovely -- perfectly prepared, generous portion, more than enough storage beans, fingerling potatoes, etc. Béarnaise and au jus were a nice addition but unnecessary .
The creme brûlée arrives in a very large bowl but it was very good.
Our server was just right, attentive without being hovering, on Saturday evening.
There was a wedding going on in another dining room and a large family party behind us so it may have been noisier than usual
We really enjoyed our evening at Habitat Restaurant. We came here for our anniversary meal after reading some great reviews. We were not disappointed! Our server was very friendly and professional. He made us feel very welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service was very quick! The Creme Brulee was especially delicious! We would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Absolutely incredible food, ambiance, and servers! An absolute must stop for beautiful and well thought out meal. I had the mushroom ravioli and could have died, it was so amazing. Our server, Wayne, was a beautiful man who was courteous, engaging and well versed in the restaurant's offerings. I also had the "Chocolate Bomb" for desert and throughly enjoyed it.
One of the best restaurants we had eaten at in Canmore and will be returning!
Service was great on a quiet Tuesday evening. The decor had a nice feel to it.
The food was ok, but we didn't feel as though it held up to the price tag, nor compared to other dinners we had in the area. Overall, it felt like they had a hard time balancing the flavours on the plates. We ordered the short rib trio and the pork tenderloin. The ribs were tender and cooked to perfection, but the flavour overall was bland. The pork tenderloin itself was delicious, and it paired well with the kale and bacon it was served on. However, there were a lot of pearl onions which tasted as though they came straight from the pickling jar, and the quinoa had too much lime flavouring. The excessive tartness of these two additions was overwhelming and clashed a bit with the main flavour of the dish. Dessert was the mousse cake, which again was delicious, but felt like they were trying to do too much on one plate.
Overall, a decent dining experience, but I feel that Canmore has much better to offer.
My girlfriends and I recently ate here. We were on a girls weekend away. We found the atmosphere to be very nice. Our server seemed knowledgeable about the menu and was attentive. The meal itself was excellent, our biggest concern was that the meal was extremely rushed, no sooner was our salad gone and our main course was there. we also asked for wine with our meal, first having a cocktail, we didn't even finish our cocktail and she brought the wine (which was off). We requested that she hold off on our desert, that we just wanted to enjoy and digest. She was very courteous and professional but we just wished she had of slowed down and let us enjoy our evening out. We thought maybe they needed the table but the two tables across from us remained empty after the previous customers left.
Would I recommend this restaurant? YES, hats off to the chef, my advice to the server is "slow down " people are out to enjoy the evening, if we wanted to rush we'd go to McDonald's or A&W
A most enjoyable night out with the girls. Their Thursday night special is to offer free corkage so that is a great advantage to a restaurant already with a terrific menu. Two of us contemplated ordering the Chateaubriand for Two but would recommend that dish for when you have 2- 3 hours to indulge in three courses (appetizer and dessert of your choice) and have a very hearty appetite. We chose the Polenta, the Wild Mushroom Ravioli and the New York Steak, which came with bernaise sauce, some lovely vegetables and a layered potato. Am sure they will have some great dishes to offer for Canmore Uncorked (April 9-19) Food & Drink Festival.
The service was good. We ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer and when we got them they were barely warm. Very disappointing since they were $16. The rest of the meal was good. My friend had the pork tenderloin and I had the arctic char. Both were very good
The food was good, but for the price you pay for it, the price to quality ration just wasn't there for me. Additionally, not food related, they seated 4 teenage (17-19) right across from us, they were loud, and obnoxious. The one girl was wearing a sweat suit, and had her legs crossed on the seat with no shoes on. I wish the waiter would have said something.
Good food overall. The artic char was lame, the halibut was over cooked and sauce with olives and capres was too salty.
Nothing to write home about.
Will no go back.
For 2 people , 3 apps, 2 entrees, one dessert, one bottle of wine (less expensive one) and one port came up to $227 all in.
While in Canmore we tried Habitat for dinner. We enjoyed the elk meatballs, duck breast, steak and crème brulee- all outstanding. Well prepared, attention to detail, lovely presentation. We also popped in the next day and had an excellent breakfast including the banana bread French toast- not to be missed!
Excellent service- attentive and friendly. We will be back when in the Canmore area.
Always a nice time! The food is awesome and on New Year's Eve it was outstanding! We like to take our time when we dine and the pace of courses was right on point. My favourite was the Venison Carpaccio. I savoured the lovely and delicate taste and the presentation was beautiful.
Our Server, Christian, was professional and engaging even though he was quite busy. Perfect way to bring in 2015!
Thank you for, yet another wonderful evening!
Laurie and Cindy!
My fiance and I dined here on New Years Eve for a special 5 course menu. The food was nothing more than average. The food was OK but seemed a bit like they were trying to hard with the presentation and not hard enough on the flavor. Also both of our scallops were undercooked. It might've looked nice on the plate but definitely was not worth the $250 we ended up paying for the two of us. The service wasn't great either. We waited for at least 20 - 25 minutes before a server introduced themselves and another 15 after that to get our first drink order. It was just way overpriced...I wouldn't recommend dining here to anyone I know. If you want a really nice and romantic meal in Canmore I would pass on the Habitat and go to the Rustica Steakhouse at the Silvertip Resort. Great food and a scenic mountain view.
We decided to treat us and the kids to a little fancier dining and we were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the Habitat was. They offered pizza, chicken fingers and fries for the kids, and had an awesome meal for the adults. My only complaint was that my chicken was a little cold but still delicious! Our server was very good and helpful with the kids. It was a very nice overall experience. One other thing was that it was very hard to find! There weren't any signs to indicate where it was!
The food was amazing. They served duck like no other restaurants and my wife loved it. There was a function happening at the main room so it took for our food to be served but the service was great. They told us beforehand what was going on and offered bread while we waited. My daughter didn't get bored and thought that her kid's burger was so huge. Great find for those who are looking for a nice quiet place with good and a bit unique type of food and service in Canmore.
Took advantage of your Thanksgiving dinner. Everything was great. Michelle from Montreal was a great server. Of particular note was her at
attention to an allergy concern. She took the time to find safe deserts for our daugher, and, for the first time she was able to enjoy a desert at a restaurant. Much appreciated.
We had an awesome experience on our last night in Canmore. The waiter (Brad) was extremely accommodating and made the perfect suggestions for a shared meal with myself & my two sisters. All of the dishes were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Our only regret is we forgot to take a group photo to remember how fabulous everything was.
Thoroughly enjoyed celebrating my Mums 85th Birthday here. The atmosphere was perfect, we were seated in a lovely little alcove next to the window, had beautiful views of the mountains, our server had a great sence of humour and we never felt rushed at any point, Christopher took really great care of us and was knowledgeable in the wines he recommended to accompany our meals. Thank you for helping to make this 85th birthday celebration so enjoyable. If I could make one recommendation it would be for a few more options on the menu. I would definitely go back here.
We had a delicious dinner with our 8-year-old (who eats like an adult) at this restaurant. Our waiter, Monsieur Cristian, is a true professional of the highest order. As Vancouver/San Francisco enthusiastic eaters, we were surprised to see this quality of a restaurant in a resort town. Lots of good eating in Canmore, but this place really stands out. You won't be disappointed!
The hightlight of our dinner was our waiter, who was both very funny and very efficient. Beyond that there was something lacking. I had the rib trio, and the elk rib was so tough I couldn't cut it. The other two were fine, but the whole dish was awash in sauce, so it really didn't showcase the meat or vegetables that well. A friend had the Arctic Char, and liked it...but didn't rave. The other two had steak, and they also enjoyed it (and did come out as ordered), but both had had much better elsewhere. The sticky toffee pudding was tasty. Overall the food was lacking a little something. The decor is fairly nice - very modern and comfortable. Not a bad find in Canmore.
Food was excellent and our waiter was very attentive and informative. There are several items on their menu which are gluten free for those who require this - the spinach and bean polenta was outstanding. The elk meatballs were also very tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience and will definitely go back.
