LOVED that they've not remodeled (ever, if my mom's memory serves from when she went to U of M in the 50's)....very cozy. They had nice a nutcracker display in the dining room. Our service was very good, as was the food. I had the turkey reuben and highly recommend! My mom is hard of hearing, and it was nice not having to yell at her over noisy atmosphere
The $24.99 prime rib dinner was a measly portion given the price. Our waitress was a little forgetful and brought out my salad with my entree. Very very average food.
My husband is absolutely wild about their fried chicken--best in the area according to him, and he's tried them all. The server allowed him to substitute healthy sides instead of the fries, biscuit, and honey. Our meals took a while to get to the table, but it was worth the wait.
Stay away! Not good! Years ago it was great. Do not waste your time on overpriced meals. Flies in the window. Gnat like bugs on table. Bread served had little to no taste. Prime rib was grisserly fatty, tough and no flavor. Salad was good. Waitress good.
We enjoyed the onion ring appetizer. The waitress was helpful with food suggestions. The dessert were also good. The main meal was filling but very average. I'm glad I went there for it's historic value but not sure I need to return.
Good home cooked food feeling
My red hat group was excited about Haabs celebrating Red Hat Society Day, April 25th. We were disappointed that our group ( 5 ladies ), were the only red hatters dining at the time.
One of our members, Grace Bowen, was a waitress there for 38 years !!! We enjoy hearing her stories about the early days at the restaurant ❤️
Excellent food, great atmosphere and perfect for a date or really any occasion. We want to try more from the menu!
The servers are very professional and wonderfully friendly. Food is well prepared. We went for St Patrick's day and the corned beef was great, lot of veggies.
Service and food were excellent as always. A "go to" place for good dining.
Absolutely love everything about this experience every time
T HE DINNER WAS NOT WHAT WE EXPECTED, WE WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED. WE TRY AND GET TO HAAB AT LEAST ONE A YEAR ONLY BECAUSE OF THE PRICING, AND WE GET GOOD SERVICE AS WELL AS GOOD FOOD. THE SERVICE WAS VERY GOOD, i WILL NEVER ORDER STEAK DINNER THEIR AGAIN , AND THE BAKED POTATO WAS JUST AS BAD. WE HAD OUR SON AND HIS GIRLFRIEND THEIR AND WE HAD TO KEEP APOLOGIZING FOR THE FOOD. OUR BILL WAS PRETTY CLOSE TO $100.00, TO MUCH FOR WHAT WE GOT. WE USED TO ALL WAYS GET VERY GOOD STEAK DINNERS.
I have always wanted to stop in and check it out. I was not disappointed our service was the best I've had in a very long time and the food was outstanding. From the shrimp cocktail appetizer to the delicious prime rib I enjoyed every bite. It will definitely be my go to place when in the an Arbor Ypsilanti area. Service was outstanding. Just ask for Dee!
Not what it use to be. Seems like they replaced their Chef with a Cook. Service was just fair and the food wasn't as good as in previous visits. We were seated near a window and it was freezing. Seems like they are they know they are closing and just want to profit from the last few months they will be in business.
Excellent London Broil and prime rib. They had a very good deal on a bottle of wine that you could take home if you didn't finish. We finished!
We went to Haab's to celebrate my son's birthday. My daughter goes to EMU and this was a good meeting location for all the grandparents to meet and easy for the college student to get to It was our first time eating at Haab's. The food was good, the service was fair, the building is in very poor repair. The bathrooms stank and had broken tile, no hot water and just looked grungy. The ceiling tiles in the dinning room had mold from a previous leak, the carpet looked to be 30 years old. I have worked in many restaurants and I know from experience that when a building is "grandfathered" it does not meet the health department standards. It grossed me out. The prices are all over the place, going from 11 to 25, so you can spend a lot of money here. Based on other reviews I was expecting more.
The food was delicious, the server was friendly and efficient, and the ambiance was warm and welcoming. We had a great time at Haab's!
Great Food! Great Service! Comfortable ! Great waitress!
We were on our way to a Michigan football game and I had never been to Ypsilanti. A friend highly recommended Haab’s and we loved it. Great food, great service, we were so glad we stopped in!
Good service, delicious fried chicken!!
Party of four enjoyed every aspect of the establishment. We will definitely return.
Whitefish for lunch was delicious as always!
When looking for a place for good steaks, Haabs popped up. Everyone in our group was pleased with the well prepared dishes. The service was great and the fresh bread was a amazing. I'm a huge fan of shrimp cocktail and not only were the shrimp great but the sauce was so delicious. When we are in the area again next year, this will be a must visit again.
Fabulous, as always. Appitizers: 1st class onoin rings and deep fried mushrooms as big as your fist. You have to eat here to see what a true London Broil is (house specialty), the best anywhere, bar none.
Food was not as good as usual but maybe it was an off night
We like Haab's a lot!
The food & service were excellent. I will certainly be returning for future visits.
