Service could have been a little better in the sense, that they didn't give a spare bowl for clam shells until we asked. Server needed to be requested a few times to come to us since he was super busy. So not blaming him, he was excellent when he attended to us. Perhaps more servers are needed. Sounds picky but in a restaurant of that calibre little things matter.
For a hotel restaurant, service and waiter/waitress etiquette should be better. Improving small things that most people wouldn’t make a fuss over can add up and most likely deliver greater tip amount! This place had great chicken and it would be best to stick to that. It’s a very easy going atmosphere with lots of space. Recommended for a simple meal and purposeful gathering.
We needed a fairly last minute reservation for 6 guests in downtown Vancouver on a Saturday night (all our flights arrived late) so we found H2 Rotisserie & Bar on Open Table and the photos looked good and we liked that the "H2" was an homage to Howard Hughes -- since several of us at our table are Pilots. Unfortunately, for a restaurant with "rotisserie" in it's titled it was disappointing. The rotisserie didn't taste extra special in fact the 3 of us that ordered the rotisserie chicken entrees had issues with our chicken not being cooked enough (bloody and rubbery - we do understand that the rotisserie process some of the meat near the bones may have some blood but when two quarter chickens had bloody liquid upon first and second slice, we expressed our discontent with our Server) and ended up craving and would have preferred Canada's well-known Swiss Chalet chicken. However, our Server Sharon was amazing and gave excellent service (thanks Sharon!) to all our questions (we needed drink and wine recommendations) and she was pleasant an hustled. The Restaurant Manager on duty Berek come over to introduce himself and provided options for our Rotisserie chicken that we were unhappy with. Also, we ordered the Halibut entree and the serving size (for the price) was a little too small for our liking - half the size of the palm of an adult hand. We ordered several desserts and were excited for the "Smores Skillet torched at table" but it was brought to the table supposedly torched. It was delicious but we wanted to 'watch' it being torched. We we hoping the food was good as we were also looking into trying their weekend brunch but after our disappointing food taste experience we probably will eat elsewhere. Would probably return but go to the H2 Bar for drinks instead. If you're looking for a restaurant in downtown/Coal Harbor area for large groups, this is a great place but just know the food quality is just fair.
Great service. Very good food. One person found the chicken too salty. On the house dessert with candle for a birthday which was very very nice
We were sat outside (per our reso request) in a lovely private spot called "the birdcage", which made for a quieter semi-private experience with friends, which was great! However, because the table was removed from the rest of the diners, we did feel neglected, and found the service to be fairly slow. While we may have taken a bit of time to decide on food items, we still expected due attention so that we could continue to order drinks. Getting the attention of our server was difficult. The atmosphere on that particular Friday summer night was really nice, as there was a guy with a guitar playing live music, singing covers. He was really good! Only a couple of us got some food, so can't comment on too much there, but the burger was really delicious, albeit a bit pricey. I got mine with salad, which came without dressing (I presume an oversight in the kitchen?). But because of the slow and difficult to flag-down service, I didn't bother sending it back or getting dressing, I just made due and ate it undressed. The goat cheese saved it.
Good confort food ,
I ALWAYS ORDER THE TOMAHAWK STEAK AT THIS RESTAURANT AND ENJOYED IT.
THIS TIME IT WAS POORLY CUT AND IT DIDN'T LOOK APPETIZING WITH THE CUT.
BUT WE STILL ENJOYED THE TASTE OF THE STEAK.
Great ambience. Maybe stop with the whole summer-bbq thing. Went in expecting carving station and french toast bar and was disappointed to see it wasn't there. Bbq thing is a little silly as you have to venture outside for it. Hosting staff could be more attentive as I found myself standing at the front for 5 minutes before being helped. Better communication among wait staff as I came back to my table at onenpoint to find my sugar, milk, and salt and pepper had been taken from my table even though I was still eating.
Great musician, enjoyed outdoor seating. Well layed out buffet aside from the bbq portion. I did enjoy my meal and would definitely try again as I do understand that as H2 is new to the buffet offering tgere are inevitably some growing pains and hiccups. I will probably not return until the fall unless the carving station is back and the bbq is gone.
Their highly touted rotisserie chicken was a huge disappointment not well seasoned nor even hot. As well the gravy was bland. Coleslaw was meh. The real highlight were the french fries and the friendly waitress! A supermarket bbq chicken is far more delicious than this poor offering. This signature dish is over hyped and it really should be scrapped or have the recipe revamped. Highly disappointing!
Awesome ambiance, great for relaxing mood.
We had lunch at H2. The oysters were fabulous!! We also had dim sum which was so enjoyable. It was pricey, but the food was very good and well presented.
More choices for meats would have been good. They did have a barbecue going with seafood and pork. Chicken or beef would have been nice as two of us have seafood allergies.
Service was very good and the food was very good but not excellent. Eggs Bennie had fabulous hollandaise, the best I've ever had, but sadly most of the muffins were burnt.
I brought my father for fathers. Day specifically for the rotisserie prime rib they raved about online they were having for this occassion. Cancelled my already made reservation somewhere else.. Excited.. My fathers fav.. We get there.. The service was mediocre.. The prime was not served the way they advertised..!!! It tasted like yesterday's prime rib. Very upset... I dont think we will be coming here again.. Disapointment beyond the scope of this review.
We were disappointed in the selection of items for Fathers Day Sunday Brunch. The service was okay but not up to the level one expects from The Westin.
Food was so so. Limited menu. Server was excellent.
This delightful spot is along the waterfront walkway heading west toward Stanley Park
- just perfect for a summer evening. There is both indoor and out door dining.
Wonderful service, fabulous ambience, quiet setting, and great live music made our delicious celebratory dinner absolutely perfect.
I went here for the brunch table buffet for my birthday. Service was excellent and food was fantastic. There were some unique elements at the buffet that were a nice change from average buffet offerings and food was fresh. Had the best cupcake I’ve ever had in a long time. Relaxed atmosphere with high service standards.
Nice place with good value brunch. Service was however lacking.
Front desk however mismanaged the reservation and tried to force a bad table based on other reservations. We were moved quickly on insisting to do so.
Table service by Robert was very good. Manager checked in with us as well. Turned around a poor start.
Round table/booth requested over a month ago and two of these sat empty until we had left the restaurant. Failure to mention parking voucher and poor response on reluctantly providing one negated the attention from management.
With near 4 decades of different offerings in this space, the new food offering has improved as has table service, but first and last impressions fell short for a hotel that must demands the highest standards.
Great food and excellent service.
This restaurant has a great setting and the food is good. It was understaffed and the staff seem to need training on basics such as refilling water glasses. The live music was not needed.
The occasion was getting together with an old friend, and we were seated at a quiet table with a great view of your garden, and so we had the chance to talk for several hours, never made to feel we had to get going after our meal, left to sip on a second glass of wine and some coffee. Meanwhile the rotisserie chicken was excellent (for me) and an enjoyed pasta dish for my friend. Our waitress was particularly friendly and attentive with a great sense of humour.
Hotel restaurant. Amazing poutine. Everything else was just OK. Service was slow and a little disorganized.
Amazing service and food as we celebrated our parents’ wedding anniversary this past Friday. We had mentioned it was a special occasion in the OpenTable reservation notes and H2 was able to take note and surprise us! Time and time again this restaurant never fails to impress my out of town guests. Food — we loved the must-try rotisserie chicken and the steak were both done perfectly! Ambience — the atmosphere was relaxing as it should be, and there was considerable spacing between tables... will come again (and again)!!!
We found the food to be very good. Decent variety of choices and great taste and presentation. Cocktail list was uninspired but wine list was alright. Restaurant was quite slow and service was far below expectations. Service was slow, unpolished and no teamwork between servers.
Disappointed with the seating arrangement considering we had mentioned that we were there for the brunch buffet. We were seated the furthest point from the buffet area and closest to the loud music. There were plenty of empty tables closer to the buffet area which remained empty during our brunch. Being a vegetarian, I was disappointed that there was no omelette station and no prepared salad choices. Surprisingly there was no assortment of freshly sliced bread available either. There was no area with fresh juices or other drinks available. Finally, the pre-cut portions of roast beef and rotisserie chicken may have expedited the serving but without a permanent person at the station, it was disconcerting seeing the youngsters using their bare hands to pick up the wings and drumsticks. We will not be returning. Being an SPG gold member, it was quite disappointing experience.
I went to H2 on the valentine’s day for dinner. The special Valentine’s set was amazing with very delicious food and an all you can eat chocolate fondue for dessert. I would definitely come back to H2, it’s good for date and a lot of other occasions.
steak is over cooked. Soup is to salty.
Sunday brunch was awful selection was same as breakfast smoked salmon was crusty on edge potatoes hash was soggy there no chicken sausage
Rice and quinoa look and taste sooo dry like day old only roasted chicken was nic e
I like h2 so much and I like go there all time this review for the chefs and management
Birthday brunch with the girls. Great location for “older” girlfriends.
Was there for dine out. A unique twist as they offered chicken pot pie and only 1 other selection which I don’t even remember. Dessert was peanut butter mousse or apple crumble with peanuts filling the plate. It was a good chicken pot pie and it would’ve fit the bill if I was freezing or in the arctic somewhere. But for dine out not so much. Understaffed as she did her best but was solo.
A rough start ended with an unbelievable experience. The food and people were amazing. We will definitely be coming back!
Went for brunch and would have liked more breakfast options on the menu instead of all lunch items. Felt forced to have the buffet.
Great service, food and ambiance! Can’t wait to go back!
We went there for their NYE special buffet dinner. It was one of the best buffet food I've had in Vancouver, with a lot of selection and tons of seafood options, dessert station with chocolate fondue, carving station serving Chicken or Prime Rib, Lamb chops, and so much more. They also had live music playing throughout, and the ambiance was fantastic. Now, two things I'd improve... their food stopped at 10:30 which isn't great for a NYE event, and not all staff knew the details of the NYE event (menu, when does it end, etc...).
Overall, I highly recommend this place for special occasions, it's a bit on the pricey side, but worth the money.
We we’re there for New Year’s Eve buffet and it was below expectations. We came in at 9:30 and everything was just stale. They should have replenish the stations for people with late reservations. Taste was not that great either. The snow crab was too salty, duck was dry and desiccated . Gotta try the regular menu and see if it’s any better. But I probably won’t do the buffet again. Not worth 95 dollars.
Considering it was new years eve, i was expecting food that was at least warm and edible. With the exception of the lamb, the buffet was not enticing. The sushi was toocold and stale and the chicken was cold along with the beef. The dessert was a highlight. Very dissapponted especially given it was new years eve and the buffet was almost $100 per person
We absolutely loved our Christmas lunch buffet. Food, service and ambience outstanding. I recommend booking a table to get a great spot and make the most of the location.
Always good and service excellent love their breakfast buffet nice selection and fresh
Food priced good
