Gyu-Kaku - Honolulu, HI | Waikiki
Traditionally called Yakiniku, this Japanese barbecue spot is known for their delicious, fresh (never frozen), high-quality meats!
Enjoy an ice cold beer as you grill your own meat. Happy Hours offer the best deals on food and drinks, so be sure to wind down and get the night started right with us.
Nick was great!!
Amazing service at this location! Very prompt and polite
It was great food and meat options. We got the Makai option for 2. My only grievance was that I felt rushed. Pacing is a good idea .. but we weren’t given an option. As soon as a raw meat plate was place 100% on the grill, they brought another meat. Not wanting the meat to sit idle for too long, we placed it on the grill quickly. 🤷🏻♀️
Thus is always a great place. Enthusiastic and quick service. Fresh food with lots of choices
Yakiniku is a blast and we had a great time cooking all the different things on the grill. Be sure to order the spicy garlic sauce and some rice to go along with your meal!
Surprisingly, this was quite good! We went as 4 adults and 4 children and cooking the food occupied the kids. A nice change of pace, reasonable and good!
Had a great experience, food was great and service was excellent!! On vacation and we ate there two times for dinner.
Great food and great service!
My server was so nice! And made me a super yummy lychee martini. His Name starts with an A lol something close to Anderson but more unique. Every one who works here is on top of their A game every time I come in!
The staff was very helpful on making my other half’s bday go smoothly.
Our server was excellent. She was very professional and advised on what would be the proper amount to order for a group of our size.
Poor quality food, too noisy, average service,
Told to come here by a local. Didn’t disappoint. Fun to cook your own meal
The quality of their meats was less than desirable, and that made it very difficult to separate slices to cook, etc. Worse, they use disposable metal screens to cook on, and they move around and flip all the time, making it even harder to try and cook what they bring. The quality of the meat is claimed to be prime and Angus, never mind they don't have any Wagyu, but it looked and tasted more like choice. The waiter was cold and uncommunicative, and the overall experience left us thinking why did we waste our evening coming here when there are so many genuine Japanese and Korean BBQ places with quality meats and good service?!
Just had Morton the night before and
This place rocks. So... tasty
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. The food and exciting way of preparing your food at your table was amazing. Food and drinks were reasonably priced. Our son really enjoyed Smore’s at the end of dinner. We would definitely go back.
Got to enjoy a Christmas lunch with my close girlfriends, Such a GREAT time! Food was delicious and service on point! What a wonderful way to spend the holidays with friends! Thanks for all the AMAZING hospitality!!!
I love this restaurant. We got in a bit before our time. Got waited on very quickly. Sll the food was great and always brought quickly, Highly recommended!!!!
Great options for AYCE. Very friendly staff. We will be back on our next visit.
The food was amazing! We ended up ordering more because it was that delicious. When we first arrived however, we weren’t impressed because they tried to set us in a back area that was run down and filthy. Luckily we talked to someone and they placed us in the main restaurant otherwise, we would have left. The food made up for the experience as this was my first time to Hawaii and we celebrated my partners birthday the day before.
Food was very good just be prepared to cook your own meal. But that is why you are there. Good value with the Happy Hour special pricing.
This is a fun place to cook your own food. It is better for couples as the seating gets cramped around the fire ring. The selections are outstanding and too numerous to mention but the quality seems very good especially for the price. We went for lunch and it was very pleasant and easy for conversation.
Just so so all the way around. Meat was mediocre and fatty. Salad was terrible. Beer was good and binbimpop rice good. Would not recommend.
A hustling and busy place. Even the we made reservations it took a while for us to be seated. The food was good but you only have your self to blame if the food isn’t cooked to your liking since you have to grill everything yourself. The cheese wontons are strange they don’t fit into the theme of the food.
Ian and staff were extremely awesome!!
Always a great meal there!
The food was great and the recommendations by our waiter were right on pointe!
Amazing food !! And something different to do, love the plates for 2
Would not accept their own coupons
I didn't like that all 4 of us in our party had to choose the all you can eat option. We had two people in our party that don't eat much at all, but wasted $42 on each of them just to dine there. A few of our servers were wonderful, but there were so many people serving one table that it got chaotic and was very rushed to get anything ordered. One person in our party would order something and the server would disappear right after that instead of seeing if anyone else in the party needed anything. Often times half of our party had to wait to order items because of this. There was no flow to how our dining experience was. It was not worth what we paid for at all. Honestly I was very disappointed in the experience but because we were on vacation tried not to let it bother me. Also, it would be nice if someone actually explained how this restaurant worked - how to order - how to cook, etc. Instead of "everyone needs to order the same all you can eat option which one do you want?" Won't return or recommend.
The food was fairly inexpensive however the beef cuts were mostly fat. Very hard to eat.
Reservation - fast and easy. Called to reconfirmed the next day and spoke to Manager who was very professional as well.
Server - We had two servers - first server, was very nice but kind of hit and miss with our orders but second server named Arenson was awesome, attentive and very professional.
Food - all of the food we did order from the happy hour menu was delicious most especially the garlic fried rice , garlic noodle, friend chicken and fresh tofu.
Planning to come back for another happy hour after work.
No service at all. First time didn’t wanna pay any tips, more like a self serve all the way. From ordering till paying the bill, throughout dinning, didn’t get offered to switch the grill at all, the servers looks very unhappy/ grumpy. Our table was full of empty plates and no one came to take them away, have to keep asking the server to come make room for other foods that are on the way.
Been to so many other Gyu Kaku at different location, never had these kind of experience. Never going back to this location ever!
Great! Incredible! We were 7 and ordered a 4 Person Dish for only 100 USD!
Fun experience with my 6yo daughter.
Been going for years. Always fun.
Anh our server was great! Food was good! Loved it and will be back again
great place, great staff and good food . I always have at least one meal here and always recommend to others
1st time visit. Bottom line: I’ll be back!
Come hungry! The food was great! Try it all!
Kenny, our waiter, was helpful and informative!
We got the all you can eat dinner and got the middle package - it was around $42 per person I believe not including drinks.
