Service and food were excellent!
It was so much fun
Food was delicious. It was a great place for a date night or family night. The skirt steak was amazing. Great calamari. Only complaint would be that the decor was getting a bit tired and the menu was a bit like reading a cartoon. Overall, loved the food and service. We will be back.
Great as always. A must try in Vancouver. Best Japanese BBQ!
Also a great time at Gyu Kaku one of our favourite places. Shout out to the manager that was working there. Couldn’t remember his name but he was great, very attentive when we couldn’t seem to catch our server
This was our second time coming to this restaurant. Our first experience was so good specially the service. That's why we came back for my husband's birthday. The food was great but the service wasn't that good. Our waiter would just drop the foods off and wouldn't come back and ask how we were doing. We asked for water and our cups were half full. But the food was great like last time.
We have been here three times and we will be back.
Food is amazing, staff are friendly and professional.
In general, the food is good, the service is great all the time. We haven't been to this restaurant for a while, quality of certain food seems dropped a bit, but we had great time.
Happy hour dinner set was a great bargain. Novice waiter was reckless in a cute way. The mediocre sake cocktail was not my favorite.
Wonderful service and fun experience to cook at your table. We really enjoyed it.
Everything is good. But i’ll mention a couple things
1. When I make a reservation I thought I can have a table at that time. I have to wait another 10 mins after reservation time. So I don’t know what’s the point to make reservation.
2. Toro beef was a lot of fat.
We were 1 minute late and the reservation has been taken. Before the dinner, I have received phones and emails to confirm the booking. I understand the policy, but it’s not reasonable and friendly because of “1 minute” late, we had to wait another 30 minutes. Will avoid such policy in the future.
Gyu Kaku is still our favourite restaurant. We are never disappointed.
The staff were super nice , food was good but small portions
Went here on a recommendation by my son. He was at a franchise in Calgary. Did not disappoint. Service was exceptional as well as the food. Plenty of time to enjoy. Will return next time we’re in Vancouver.
We always take our visits to this unique restaurant. Everybody always loves food here and entertaining by grilling food by yourself.
We got here before 6PM for their happy hour menu, which meant even more food for us!
Our favourites are the Sukiyaki Beef Stone Pot Rice, Garlic Noodles, and an assortment of beef, garlic shrimp, and veggies - all of which are cheaper for their happy hour pricing. Today's dinner did not disappoint, as what we expected in service, quality, and the food we got.
Your clothes will get smokey, so keep that in mind when you head to Gyu-Kaku for a meal. Reservations are highly recommended as there is usually a wait.
Lastly, keep in mind that this is a place where you grill your own meat and veggies. Similar to KBBQ restaurants, there's a grill in place in the middle. We loved this as it makes the dinner more interactive & also able to cook it to the level of doneness we like.
Thanks again for another great meal Gyu-Kaku!
Thanking my cousin for his generosity
The server may be new. He didn't answer my question properly.
Good food and service.
Felt a bit rushed with 2 hour limit though.
Still enjoyed very much.
The food is always delicious, I've been several times. One thing that is concerning is at the beginning of the night we mentioned my boyfriend's nut/peanut allergy. It was his birthday and when going to the washroom I asked the server if they do anything for birthdays. He said yes they bring icecream.
They brought out the icecream and luckily I took the first bite because I could taste nuts in it!!! At the bottom of the icecream not the top where it would be visible they put crushed nuts! If my bf took a bite first he could of died! This is a EXTREMELY SERIOUS thing. We then asked the server and he said sorry he forgot also there's no dessert that doesn't have nuts in it which is hard for me to believe since vanilla and green tea icecream normally don't have them. That was very disappointing and concerning that such a well established business would take a deathly allergy so lightly and have not one dessert without nuts.
I came for my birthday dinner with my boyfriends family. It was their first time going to gyu so I ordered for them and they loved everything that arrived. Excellent service as always. I recommend this place and location often and eat here once a week
Fun interactive atmosphere, great for a special occasion
The service is great and the food is good. table fit for small groups not over 6 and noise level is acceptable only if your next table too high...:)
Love their stone bowl rice, taste so delicious and the ice-cream is a must try especially the sesame one and green tea flavour good too.
Will recommend the restaurant to friends and perfect for a small group party.
I was pretty disappointed with quality of food and the service. Beef Kalbi was chewi and flavor was so so. Service was slow. Not the best experience and I don't think I will come back
I’ve been a customer for over 10years and every visit was so good. But this time, the beer tasted stale, so the server informed the manager. He offered the 2nd round but they charged it. They should be more careful with the quality control. Bad taste beer ruins the flavor of great food.
Service was excellent, food was to die for, and the location is perfect. Will come here again and again!
Love the food
More than some restaurants in Vancouver, even high-end restaurants are filled with too much noise and super loud music all the time, however; the Gyu-Kaku is very comfortable because I do not need to shut
all the time. Sometimes so exhausting.
Thanks, the Gyu-Kaku
Great service. Good lunch time deal.
Wonderful friendly staff accommodated us after the fireworks just before closing. We got a big order in and they took care of us wonderfully.
I absolutely love gyu kaku it’s my favorite restaurant I think the servers could be a little more consistent at checking on the table because I like to order lots of drinks so I’d like to make reorders as often as possible otherwise everything is amazing
Awesome little place with a good late night happy hour!
This place is awesome. It is a great environment, friendly staff and the food is authentic. It is a unique dining experience as you cook the meal at your table and the beer is ice cold.
It was super happy hour and the value was really good for late lunch.
Excellent service with delicious food. The combo has so much food. We couldn’t even finish it. Highly recommended!
Excellent food and service!! Always great to come back!!
We had fun
Repeat visits over several years and the quality has remained consistently good. Come for happy hour/super happy hour if you can. Wide selection of dishes, not just bbq.
amazing service! my parents were really happy!!!!!!
