Gyu-Kaku - Tustin Ratings and Reviews
We’ve eaten at the one on Oahu and they set the standard for service. Our bim bowl was out within minutes so we could add our cooked meat, there was a great flow of items arriving at table. We felt we were constantly asking for the next item here tonight. Everything tasted pretty good except the cheese wontons which some were “empty” shells and no cheese. Overall not bad but the timing of service could be improved. Waitstaff super friendly.
We waited too long in between ordering food to the point where we weren’t able to thoroughly enjoy our food. If you’re going to put a 90 minute time limit for all you can eat options food should come out more consistently not having to wait 30 minutes for your next order to come out.
Great for a different dining experience. Plenty of meat and non-meat to choose from to grill, and side items without the grill. A la carte ordering during happy hour is the best bang for your buck but set menus are good if you want a little of everything. The atmosphere makes for easy conversation while you grill though it can get a bit noisy when it’s the lunch or dinner rush. Overall a great place to take a date or get to know someone.
I booked a reservation on Opentable. When I arrived at the restaurant they told me that my reservation didn’t match what the restaurant had available and that instead of being seated at the time I had confirmed with my app, I would have to wait an add’l hour before I could get a table. I told the host I didn’t understand how my confirmation with my app couldn’t be confirmed with the restaurant and she told me they just couldn’t. I ended up having to leave to another restaurant because we couldn’t be seated.
I have been to the one in Burbank and now Tustin. Both are equal in every way. Service was great and the food was excellent.
If I had to be critical, I wish there were more variety of sauces. Or maybe suggesting a combination of incredients to create your own sauce.
We had a reservation and still waited over an hour to be seated. There were four other reservations that were experiencing the same thing as us. Our reservation was at 9pm...we checked in at 8:45pm...and were seated at 10:10pm. Our server was great and the food was good as usual but having to wait more than an hour even with a reservation is unacceptable.
I made a reservation and went. I arrived before the appointment time and was waiting, but I could not call you even though the appointment time passed. There was no meaning of reservation. And I ordered the highest meat in the store. It was insanely slow to be carried.
Better re-train to server. I think he forgot our meat order in to the kitchen (appetizer came quickly). We waited almost half hour to get meat and server never come to table to explain or never offer refill our drinks. He said kitchen is behind which is understandable but One of group came next to us about 20 minutes after we got a table and their meat came earlier than us.
We were not happy for his service and not going back to Restaurant.
I have had good experiences with this restaurant and location before, so I was surprised by what transpired during my most recent visit. Checked in at reservation time for dinner, was told I would be seated soon. 30 minutes passed, so I inquired as to when my 4-person party would be seated, and was informed it would likely be another 25-30 minutes. I left. I'm not upset they didn't honor my reservation; I'm upset they didn't inform me at the start that I wouldn't be seated anytime soon. What a waste of time.
As usual at this location, service was bad. Although, Neeva was awesome. Where our main waitress dropped the ball, as soon as Neeva came on shift, we had all that we needed. The main waitress would eventually refill sodas, but leave the old glasses. Neeva did it all and got us extra meat. When the main waitress didn’t bring the meat, Neeva found out and got to us within a minute. She rocked!
