Gyu-Kaku - Tustin
Traditionally called Yakiniku, this Japanese barbecue spot is known for their delicious, fresh (never frozen), high-quality meats!

Really great find! We wanted Japanese food and found this place and tried it based on the reviews. It was super delish! The service was also excellent. The only drawback is that there isn’t enough parking and there’s no street parking. But well worth circling the block a few times to wait for a spot to open up.
Took a friend for the first time. She said it was much better than she expected. We had tuna volcano, beef bibimbap, filet mignon, mushrooms and shrimp...followed by the season matcha tiramisu. Every bite was delicious.
The food is great, but, it does take a while to cook, so be sure to give yourself time to account for that.
The service is fine. The parking can be hard sometimes, but, we usually find parking after a while.
Making a reservation for dinner helps lessen the wait.
We had the Supreme or premium All You Can Eat. Top level. The meats were aged over 21 days and the flavoring justified the higher price. Friendly staff and very busy but we didn't wait too long between orders. The biggest issue was parking! The lot is small and the a joining lot is for other businesses so we had to walk over from around the corner.
they have the best garlic noodles and bbq is always bomb 😘 definitely going back and back again my fav spot to eat on a happy hour and just near were i live!!🙂
Always great coming here for a fun time and great food
I love this place. The food was great. Service was amazing :-)
We love this restaurant chain and visit many locations all over the country when we have a chance. It was rather annoying that we made a reservation for 7pm but didn't get seated until 7:30pm. Meanwhile there was several tables available the entire wait that just needed to be cleaned but nobody took the time. They really should prioritize getting people seated as it reduces the annoyance of waiting in the lobby, it also would increase their revenue as guests can at least start drinking!
We've been here probably 20+ times in the past. The last few times, I would say that the service has gone down just a bit. Also, the restaurant needs a little updating. Advice to the management/owner: Bite the bullet and shut it down for a couple of weeks and remodel (put in powerful fan/ventilation this time).
Great food and fun but def felt rushed. Food was out too quickly and then we felt like they wanted the next table in sooner than we were done.
This location has the best service! Very attentive to our drink needs and timing of bringing out items for the all you can eat bbq. Excellent food and very kind server!
The food is always fantastic at this restaurant and the service is usually outstanding as well. On this particular visit the only reason I had rated the service as a 4 star instead of the usual rating of 5 that I normally give was due to the fact that our waiter did not come by as often as they normally do in seeing if we needed anything, especially when one is having the all you can eat dinner. We had to ask other servers to either tell our server that we needed things or they volunteered to bring them. However overall I still love this restaurant.
Great food, reasonable prices but service is lacking, clearly not enough servers, overall appearance of the place is uninspiring (i need of major revitalization project).
Great place for a fun, social dinner with a group of friends. Service is outstanding - the servers know the menu and make great suggestions. Food is tasty and fun to cook.
Do note that your clothing and hair will smell like cooked food after your meal. The place gets a little smoky with everyone cooking on the tables despite a good ventilation system.
Great food, had fun with an old friend. I would highly recommend getting a reservation first to save time.
I’ve been here with my boyfriend a few times, and at the one in Huntington Beach and both are always awesome with everything with the exception of one rude hostess on a holiday. We came recently though for my brothers birthday and everything was perfect. The food still surprises me at how good it is EVERYTIME! I also like being able to cook my own meat because my boyfriend is very particular about how he likes it cooked and as a cook by profession I personally enjoy keeping busy and timing certain things as we prefer. The OpenTable option for setting a reservation was appreciated. It’s quick and easy to use and you can easily change or adjust anything on the reservations with out issues. I’ve recommended this restaurant to anyone who will hear about it and can easily admit that it’s my favorite place to go for any and all occasions.
Fast service, great food. We had a wonderful evening
Service could be faster. They didn’t bring out the food until about 15 minutes after each order for ayce. Beer was delivered promptly. Some orders were forgotten. People we were sitting next to were extremely loud. Food was very good. Would come back.
Such a fun place to meet friends for dinner. We had lots of variety; duck, shrimp, veggies and more. Great service even though the restaurant was packed. Definitely make a reservation. The only thing I would change is that the noise level was so loud it was hard to hear my friend at times. Can’t wait for our next visit.
Good was okay. The beef orders we got that day was a little more dry and salty. Service was great but I personally wouldn't return for food in the future.
Great food. Great service. Happy time!
Very good food at very good price! Two of us had the lunch set meal. The set came with everything, miso soup, salad, rice, endemame, three kinds of beef, all for $12! You do the BBQ yourself at the table. The meat is seasoned well, tender and fresh. The servers are polite and we have a nice booth to ourselves. Great for couple and groups!
Smoky and delicious. Friends and I went for Restaurant Week and service and food were great. We were impressed by the staff and specifically: Doug was AMAZING!!!
The food was great but service was slow. We never received the rice to accompany our meal, though we had been told that it would be coming soon. Took a long time to receive our check though we had clearly been done with our food for a while. We went for the restaurant week promotion and perhaps they were busier than normal because of that?
We didn’t get seated until 30 minutes after our reservation. Food took a long time to come, and they had run out of many items. Portion sizes were good and food was good, but very slow. Waitress was nice and helpful. Seems to be just be an inefficient kitchen.
We took the family out for OC Restaurant Week and had a wonderful meal at Gyu-Kaku. We opted to try one for everything to try as much variety of the menu (4 different apps, 4 different desserts, 4 different alcoholic beverages, and 8 different plates for the grill). The restaurant was swamped with diners, but their staff was very friendly, apologetic, and professional. We had to remind our server of a few missing items, but we never had to ask twice.
It was little noisy inside, but I think that's just the nature of table side grilling with a full restaurant. However, it was little too smokey and I think they'd benefit greatly from better ventilation.
Great food and service.we really love this place but Even with a reservation we had to wait about 30 minutes
Our server Lida was amazing. The food was high quality and so delicious.
Love this place! You have to go during happy hour it’s the best!
Monday is the good day !
Would recommend Gyu-Kaku - Tustin to a friend
This is our favorite restaurant. We love coming here and visit once a month.
meat very good and tasty
Food took a long time. Portions were smaller than normal
Amazing food, great price, fantastic service
Paulina (or Pauline?) was my group's server and she was what made our night great. She was able to provide us with exceptional service. Only issue I had was the ambiance. We were close to a table with a big group that had more people than grills. Lots of smoke that seemed to not go away. Maybe a better air system would be better? Only complaint though is that. Everything else went well.
The food is always fantastic at this restaurant and the service is usually outstanding as well. The service on visit was not the usual outstanding service that we normally get at this restaurant. First the table was missing the dishes you put the dipping sauces in and one of the 3 sauces that have always been on the table was missing as well. Furthermore, we had to flag down our waiter to get these items in order to begin eating the dishes that we had BBQ'd. Also, since it was an AYCE dish that we ordered, usually our waitress or waiter had continuously checked back with us to make sure we did not need anything. This time we had to flag down our waiter each time we wanted to order something and so we ended up a number times just sitting at the table without anything to eat until we flagged down the waiter and he was able to bring out additional items we ordered. Also I believe believe given only 2 weeks notice that any points earned prior to August 1, 2018 would expire on February 1, 2019 was unfair as your new policy of points expiring 180 days after being earned should have only applied only to points earned after February 1, 2019 instead of making it retroactive to points earned prior to February 1, 2019.
Too dirty, doesn’t look like a clean and nice restaurant.
The food was fantastic and the service was outstanding as well. The only complaint I have is that they did not grandfather the dining rewards points earned prior to August 1, 2018 instead of just announcing that due to the new policy, all points earned prior to August 1, 2018 would expire February 1, 2019. This is really upsetting since I have been a loyal customer for quite a few years now and usually waited to use my points when I had earned 500 points to get the $25 reward, but now the restaurant is forcing us to use the reward points sooner on items that you normally get with the AYCE dinners and why would one want to use the rewards for that when they come with the AYCE menu.
Been here many times. Great food! Service was off this last visit .. server forgot to bring our rice and we were done eating our meal once we were checked in on (bummed bc we love their crispy rice) - ordered dessert and when the chocolate cake arrived - server forgot to mention tgat they were out of ice cream. So a couple of hiccups but wouldn’t stop us from returning.
