We went here for my fiance's birthday and was pleasantly surprised. We did the all you can eat menu and the food was seasoned very well. Our waiter was great and they made sure our table was cleaned for the new food we ordered. I would definitely recommend this place.

Good food but we got someone else's order at one point. Also, they changed the menu so I had to get my normal lunch item but it cost more and had extra food that I could not eat.

I made reservations during Happy Hour and wasn't disappointed as usual. I was able to sit where I requested and the server constantly took care of us. The food tasted great and the atmosphere was "live", but not loud and obnoxious. I was very pleased with service and dinner that night.

It wasn't our first time dining in gyukaku topanga, yet it was our best one.
The food was as delicious as usual, what made it special was our server, Jen.
All of our party were so impressed with how she served us. She was so attentive, polite and friendly. We chose AYCE and we ordered so many times. We saw that she had a lot of tables to handle that time, yet she didn't make us feel uncomfortable to order for more. She always took our order with smile. So far it was our best AYCE experience. 10 thumbs up for Jen

Glen was absolutely amazing! We’ve been to the Topanga location before but Glen has been by far the best waiter! Very nice & super helpful!

We are regulars at Gyu-Kaku. we go there every time our child comes home from college and for special occasions!

Zachary was overall a great server! He was super busy with other tables, but still managed to give us superb service. However when we got home we realized the poke salad was never brought out and we were still charged for it, but the manager was able to help us out. Overall, we love going to Gyu Kaku! Delicious food!!!

Your hostess at the time of my arrival was a no smile sad girl. Also rude and wouldn’t speak. Aren’t hostess suppose to be the nicest? The face of the company? She needs some change on her life. Maybe something more than grabbing menus and throwing it on a table. Maybe she needs to do some yoga to clear her mind. I’ll be returning to Sherman Oaks location because That’s what I call service. Good bye.

The food and service are awesome!

Booked reservation hours before. Got there and still waited almost half hour to get seated. They apologized and told us they are backed up. I would understand if I made the reservation half an hour or even an hour begore. I would think that over 2 or 3 hours is enough time for the restaurant to prepre a table.

Bad I've been to this place many times worse experience. First they forget about us waiting although we have reservations no one else was there after they call 2 couple that was there which I'm not sure if they have reservations ahead of us since on your app only 1 person at a time for 2-3 people. Then we only found out they forget about us waiting is when someone walks in they let them in. When we asked the desk we been waiting for 10-15 minutes with reservations. Then our waitress spill the hot miso soup on our table partly on me & mostly on her. Then it took another 30 minutes for the meat to arrive after they asked if everything ok I said no been waiting for my grill for 30 minutes. I love this place but today is horrible from checking in to service.

It wasn't busy but I felt like I had to go out if my way to order anything. I had to pull over my server as she walked by me and my party felt neglected

Unfortunately this place has changed. Some of their food items are different/no longer good, and some are altogether gone. The garlic noodles which used to be amazingly good are now just okay. The Harami as on the edge of spoiled. The avocado salad is still really good which is the only positive thing I can say about the food. The prices went up and the happy hour prices and choices are now pathetic All four of us decided that this was our last time dining here which is so sad because we used to really enjoy our Gyu-Kaku nights.

Food was excellent and service was best we had in a long time. The service can sometimes be sporadic since this restaurant is usually very busy, but the food is always on point.

Service was very slow. Garlic noodles were dry. It took long to get our drinks. Server looked bothered every time we asked her for something.

Foos was really good amd the staff was really nice. Will come back again

We scheduled at 7:45PM on a Tuesday night. We were greeted when we came in and seated right away which is great. However our table - is not really ours cause we have to share with the other couple and have the most awkward seats. I can’t even move my arm freely when I try to cook meat. The wait of food is ridiculous and I don’t how it can possibly take that long - for raw meat! The portion is really small and ordering is a pain cause one order is taking approximately 30 mins so we are scared to order more since we need to leave by 9. Overall it’s really not worth it for the portion of the food and service we received.

The service was great. the waiter was awesome .the food was really good. the shrimp was delicious. and the lunch portion was big even took some home.

This location always has great people serving you and good cuts of meat but I will say they need to work on their equipment.

Several times they’ve had issues with starting the grill and they also need to work on maintenance as lights were out and this is happened in the past.

They Changed the menu and it wasn't a great dining experience, missed some of the old items.

We picked a bad night. Who in their right mind goes to a good restaurant in a busy mall during holiday shopping season 😂. Fortunately we made reservations and were seated pretty quickly. Our server Jenn was excellent. She took great care of us amidst the chaos of the crowd. The food was very good and although it was like being at home (I did the cooking 😂) we had a great time. We will definitely return another night when it’s not so loud and crowded.

Food was tasty and good. Service was slow at times and server acknowledged there was an issue and backup in getting us our meat ordered.

Great food! Unfortunately the hostess was completely unprofessional. The restrooms were not kept up and were really dirty. The music was also so loud that we couldn't hear each other. Thankfully though, the food away amazing and our server was great!

We haven’t been here for awhile. It’s always delicious to eat here. Our twin 8 year old girls love the restaurant! Especially the tongue!!

This place is great as always only one small thing there were some lightbulbs out in the restaurant so I need to keep on top of their maintenance

I love the yaki shabu beef! My boyfriend and I usually order that beef with some noodles.

Our server was excellent the food was pretty good except for the fish. It didn't seem very fresh.

Anniversary

My first time here for my grandson's birthday, which I noted to Open Table and repeated to the receptionist upon arrival. The noise level was distracting. Five of us were jammed into a very small table, given that the center of it was the grilling area. The food was fresh and our server was upbeat and personable, but food items were delivered to the table in such a haphazard way that no one could keep track of who ordered what. The bill was on par with much more upscale eateries. My grandson's birthday was never acknowledged. While the novelty of grilling your dinner might be fun for some, I will go elsewhere where someone cooks it for me in an atmosphere where I can hear the person talking across my table for the same price as I paid tonight. It's not for everyone.

One of my favorite restaurants!! Love it dearly and enjoy taking family and friends for the first time
