Gyu-Kaku - Times Square Ratings and Reviews
The wait time was perfect being that we missed our reservation by an hour. The lighting was just right. Our came right away to give us the whole rundown. The drinks were amazing! The food was even better! Being that we had to cook our own meats our food didn't have to get cold which I hate. The prices are very reasonable. Definitely will visit again when in the area. Amazing night!
Absolutely superb! We searched online and went through a ton of restauarants that claimed to be the best. We wanted a fun yet traditional way to experience food and we surely got that at Gyu-Kaku. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a unique experience and something different from the norm. The service was excellent and the food was out of this world. We were so surprised at the various flavors. We will be back for sure!
hostesses and servers was super nice. Manager was rude and offered me a table for hour even thou I had a reservation, the try to turn tables fast and they don't focus on the customer service aspect of hospitality, they rush you in and out & that's annoying- rude and it makes your feel as if you aren't valued
We ate here before a 7 pm broadway show. The waiter was very helpful explaining how to order. The meats were surprisingly lean and tasty. We cooked everything except the rice on the grill in the middle of the table. It was like fondu on steroids. We were all very pleasantly surprised.
A friend and I decided to meet for happy hour. As he lives in Harlem and I’m in Brooklyn, we typically meet in the Times Square are as a middle point. He had been to Gyu-Kaku before and I wanted to try it.
We arrived at 3:30pm which was during their happy hour making it perfect timing. I checked in with the hostess as I had made a reservation. My friend suggested we sit at the bar so we did that.
We started with drinks and weren’t sure on food quite yet. After ordering our second drink we decided to order food. We both ordered the Spicy Tuna Volcano and then he got ramen and I got th Garlic noodles. Without question, the Spicy Tuna Volcano was amazing. We both enjoyed them and were quite happy we decided to get two orders. Our other options were delicious but not amazing.
While I’d definitely visit again because the happy hour menu & prices are great, I will say the service was lacking. The hostess wasn’t welcoming and failed to check me in correctly for my reservation. The bartender wasn’t friendly nor was she attentive to anyone seated at the bar. Thankfully her shift ended and her replacement was quite friendly.
Overall we had a great experience here. Food was so good. And especially for the price. The only problem we had was the fact that we had a 7:30pm reservation, arrived at 7:15 and weren't seated until 8pm because of the fact that they 'forgot'. Meanwhile the table was ready as soon as we asked them what was going on, they seated us. Other then that slight issue, everything went very well.
This place was awesome! The food was tasty and well seasoned. The Japanese bbq was something I’d always wanted to try and this place did not disappoint. Super excited to go after we saw Kinky Boots. It was right around the corner. The vibe and energy were great. Check out this place. It was about $70 a person with some adult beverages. I would probably not take kids under 8 if you are going to bbq bc of the open flame. It might be a little anxiety inducing.
Staff is very nice loveeee with a passion one of the bartenders she a blue dress on love that place food is good wish there was a little more poultry to the menu and seafood but I heard every location is different but other then that this place will be my go to hangout with friends , girlfriend, etc.
The noise level depends on the time, the closer to the night the noisier it gets, but it is not that bad you can have conversations without yelling.
Totally Recommended place. I have eaten there for lunch and dinner. and if your table is not ready yet, you can try the awesome cocktails at the bar.
