Gyu-Kaku - New York, NY | Times Square
Traditionally called Yakiniku, this Japanese barbecue spot is known for their delicious, fresh (never frozen), high-quality meats!
Enjoy an ice cold beer as you grill your own meat. Happy Hours offer the best deals on food and drinks, so be sure to wind down and get the night started right with us.
Made a reservation and still had to wait 30 minutes. I was always seated right away when I made a reservation in the east village location. When I walked in, what did I see? Empty tables. Not sure why they make so many people wait for a table when there were available tables.
My sister and I had a great dinner and enjoyed our evening! We hope you open one up in Northern NJ where we live!
Amazing experience , kids loved it . Great food , very attentive and friendly service . Definatelly coming back
Yummy food! Great experience, such good servers!
This is my to-go spot when I'm hanging out with my friends in NYC. The quality of the meat and food is always amazing. At our last visit, it was hard to keep track of all the orders of meat that were brought to us. They also missed giving us the sides we ordered. They took it off the bill after we mentioned it to them. They do an excellent job at refilling our drinks and changing the bbq grill. Overall, everyone enjoyed their meals. I wish there was an easier way to make sure all the food that were ordered came to the table since they come out at different times.
We loved the food and the experience!! Amazing place
Great value for pre-theater Happy Hour. Excellent food
We were seated quickly with a very attentive waitress. She brought our drinks and food quickly. The food was delicious and extremely reasonable (in price) for Korean BBQ. To top it off, it was happy hour so there was a discount on the beers. I highly recommend!
The food was a joke for the price.
It was just ok. The bathrooms are disgusting blood on toilet seats.
And the place is basically a rip off.
Not sure but I was sitting on the open Lon tables and it was hard to hear conversation. Which there was a type of separator but other than that. Everything was good! And staff was great
Came with my husband and 4 year old for a late night dinner. My daughter loved watching us cook the food and even took a shot at using the chopsticks. Our server was very nice even made sure to tell us when last call was, and even after last call managed to get us one last thing off the menu! This is one of our favorite dinner spots
We've been to this place several times and enjoyed it. This time it seems like the menu changed some and they scaled back on the portions. My wife and I usually share dishes but this time around the portions were too small to share. Also drinks at the bar were half price but we had to pay full price because we sat at a table. Not sure if we'd return
This is a Japanese barbecue next to the theatre district. We had our own barbecue to cook our meal. Nice ambiance and good drinks available. Less than 5 minute walk to our show. .
Asked for a fork and waiter told us they were out of forks. Management needs to purchase FORKS!!
Our waiter, Memo, was amazing!! He made great recommendations and took time to explain the experience.
Gyu-Kaku is always one of my favorite place to go. I've been to quite a few locations already and I still love it.
We were a party of 6 and had the Shogun barbecue set menu and it was a great value and the quality and selection of meats and the included food (soup, salad, vegetables, fried dumplings, and smores dessert) were well orchestrated and made up for a well planned and balanced menu. We avoided the stress of the decisions of what to order...We made reservations thru OpenTable and were seated only when the whole party arrived, we had to wait like 10 minutes, which was not bad. The Times Square location is pretty loud and crowded, high energy, but once you are seated and the staff attends to you then it's ok. We would have paid much more if we went to our favorite Korean BBQ place, WonJo, where they use charcoal for the grill. Unlike some bbq places, you have to grill yourself, and heed to the recommended settings of meat cooking ( 1 min per side, etc). We were 3 guys and 3 girls, and the quantity was ok, but can imagine that for 6 strong eating guys it will not be enough meat...
All good! Love happy hours. Fun with friends and family.
The food is always delicious, the steaks have so much flavor without even being seasoned! The service is great, multiple waiters are always walking by to make sure everything is okay. A particular waitress, Patty was amazing, her hospitality is great, she had awesome recommendations and was very friendly.
It was a great Sunday evening, ambiance was nice it wasn't over crowded. I will definitely be back.
Fantastic service and fun experience!!
Great service & food
Great food. Service is really fast.
Great service and food. A little chaotic and very loud which isn’t my personal preference. If that’s a non issue you’ll enjoy
The brown rice was hard...
Family dinner , great experience , super the food !!’n
great experience - very well done - perhaps the explanations should be a tad slower and clearer - it's not a language or accent challenge - its a speed of explanation challenge - but pleasant and exciting and energetic -but once they've said it they are gone - and you're left with small platters of raw food - which you know you have to put on the grill - but no longer know what they are : ) the crowd is young and excited, too - so they don't necessarily care what the meat is - they just have to cook it.
Love this place however we had to wait 30 mins for our reservation. I don't know what happened the wait is never that long.
I love the new never frozen meat options. The quality of the meat had always been top notch in my experience. Our waiter was very knowledgeable, made some excellent recommendations for the night. My favorite was hanger steak and beef tongue
Service was great and timely. Food was very affordable and I was full about halfway through the course.
This was my second time at a Gyu-Kaku location. It was a double date. We all had a great time. The meats we ordered were delicious, and the drinks were incredibly tasty! It was also quiet enough to be able to converse and enjoy ourselves. My boyfriend and I have already agreed that we'd love to come back just the two of us for a nice date. We really enjoyed the food.
Server was really helpful and friendly, but you can tell it's a standard to rush tables out on busy nights. However, food was still great and service didn't lack.
Great for fun lunch and happy hour specials we go often
The service was slow, but the food was excellent.
We were very happy with this first experience in the BBQ restaurant.
Service and waitress were very good, she took time to explain us the meals, she was clear and helpful any time.
Courses were delicious and not so expensive.
We warmly recommand this restaurant
Based on the special occasoon I did aspect that they will sing Happy Birthday with cake and candle.
It was amazing! But I forgot to bring the ID. So next time, I would like to try some cocktails
Excellent food, wonderful experience and great value for the money. Our server Memo was absolutely amazing!
