- Reservations are mandatory. We hope that you will come to dine-in with us when you are ready. Please make a reservation via telephone or our website so that we can prepare for your visit.
- Please bring a mask and use it all times when you are not eating or drinking.
- We will measure your temperature upon entering the restaurant.
- To comply with spatial distancing rules we have spaced our tables out and limited seating capacity.
- There may be limits on party sizes.
- We are serving a limited menu. Not all Grand Menu items will be available during our immediate reopening.
- We only accept payment via credit or debit card. Cash payments respectfully declined.
Enjoyed a nice lunch in the COVID era -
We were greeted well with instructions on masks (to be worn anywhere when not at the table), and felt entirely comfortable the staff is doing what they need to keep people at low risk. The lunch hour was lightly attended, but with some music and nice daytime lighting, the environment was great.
The BBQ table setup is actually a huge plus because there is extra room across whoever is sitting on the other side. Plenty of room for 2 familiar people to actually eat at distance if needed.
Staff was attentive - if we had to do over again, we would really not need as much checking-in from the servers as all the food was brought to us and we really did not need much after that, including changing out the grill plate (but your preference may vary).
Considering the BBQ scene is something not easily done at home, I would highly recommend this missed experience!
We always love coming here. The staff is amazing, food comes out very quickly, and the experience during COVID-19 has been great. We'll definitely be back.

Food is good. However the flavor is tooooo heavy than before. I can't taste the meat flavor but only the sauce. Hope they can revise the amount of the seasoning.

Honestly, my girlfriend and I lovd coming here! They check your temp and have you apply handsanitizer when you come in. And all of the table are socially distanced.
The service is fast and everyone is so kind and attentive.
And food! Yall we get the first two person, planned out meal. Its so much food for 50 dollars. And the drinks and dessert are A1 amazing.
The food and service during the pandemic decreases a lot. The beef tongue is obviously not fresh in comparison to the normal time. They temporarily remove All You Can Eat menu and provide some combo plans instead. But each dish within the combo comes in very small size. Servant only got us sauces served for two people while we had four at the table. We asked for more sauce for four our five times and the servant finally brought us sauce for one person instead of for the rest of two people. It was not a busy hour at all. Disappointed. But I can’t blame on them too much. Hope when things get better, the food and service quality will be back to normality again. But business owner should really consider what if the pandemic will continue going and things will not get better any soon. How will they operate the business in this case in the long run? Will people continue using the pandemic as an excuse for decreasing quality of food and service in any restaurant?
Quick, friendly, and exceptional service. The food was good and the ambiance was as peaceful as can be. Highly recommend and will definitely be going back soon

had a reservation for my friends’ birthday at 5:00 pm for 7 people on 02/23/2020 at Gyu- Kaku located in South Bay, Dorchester MA. We had to wait for about 30 minutes for the table, which we didn't mind at all. So we started our dinner around 5:40 pm. For the most part, the meal was great and the server (male) was very attentive. Around 7:30 pm, one of the busgirls came and took my friends’ plates even though we still had food on the table. She took the plates without asking if we were still working on the food. Then a couple minutes later, the manager of the restaurant came and asked us if we could finish up because there were people waiting outside for the table. I looked around, there were so many empty tables in the restaurant. We had about 2 hours to finish our dinner and we didn’t get seated right away. It was my friend’s birthday and we were trying to catch up with each other. We ordered a lot of food and drinks for $417 total (including tips are around $497 for 7 people).
I had booked reservations at Gyu- Kaku for many events including my graduation party and my birthday party (about 15 to 20 people) in the past and I had never experienced the restaurant rushing us through our dinner like this. My previous dinners were very nice and pleasant. All the waiters that served for my parties were very kind and helpful. We were very disappointed with the experience this time on Sunday 02/23/20. We felt rushed. It also made me look bad, because I asked my friend to have her birthday party at Gyu-Kaku
Food was great as usual. Service wasn’t as great as I have experienced on previous occasions but it was okay.

I wish our waiter was more attentive. He forgot our orders and I reminded him numerous times. He still didn't get us the food that we ordered. It's not a good experience.
My reservation was cancelled for no reason. I called when the email came in saying "cancelled by the restaurant" they argued that it was cancelled by the customer. They booked me a new reservation which a called and confirmed later. Then I arrive and again they tell me that I cancelled (I didn't cancel). Luckily there were tables (Valentine's day, could have been a nightmare). The worst part was the staff insisting it was my fault rather than trying to assure me that they would work with open table to try to resolve whatever the trouble is.
I think the south bay gyu-kaku might be my new fav! This is my 2nd time visiting this location and easily my 15th time at a gyu-kaku. I love that this location it is a little more quiet and chill. Love the music too!
The layout can be awkward, but I've never been bothered enough to ask for a different table. I might in the future though.
The food came out in average time and nothing was 86'ed from the menu, something that has happened frequently enough at the Brookline location to make me stop going. As always, you're most likely going to save money by going during happy hour and ordering a la carte, but there's something special about the AYCE option, especially if you are celebrating!
The wait was insane even though I had a reservation. There were so many empty tables for a very long time that the wait doesn’t make sense.
Once seated, things were fine. Service was good. Food was fine; quality of the meat was ok and not worth the price.
Anna is one of the best server, patient, polite, and etc. Tells us how long to cook the food. Service is great. Can’t argue :)
We had a great family birthday dinner. The atmosphere was great, service was top quality. My only ask is for more vegetarian options. Otherwise, an all around great experience.
